gum bleeding

My gums bleed some times when I brush but not often. However when I lift weights on like squat day, gum bleeding gets worst. Any particular reason for this are the steroids making my gums bleed or just blood rushing to my head? My dentist says I'm clean and maybe I'm using hard bristles brush and going too hard.

I actually had the same problem. My dentist recommended that I switch to a toothbrush with soft bristles and to make an effort to start brushing less aggressively. After making those changes, the bleeding stopped completely.

Steroids are not effecting the gum bleeding. Steroids can increase blood pressure which will increase blood flow and will make wounds bleed more, but the steroids themselves are not directly causing the gum bleeding. Your problem is that you are brushing too aggressively with a too hard of a toothbrush bristle.

What muskate said was correct. Definitely start brushing less hard.

Also every once in a while use baking soda and peroxide on them to really deep clean around the gum line.

Yeah, my dentist always recommends me to use the soft toothbrushes, as other ones can really mess up your gums

you are not supposed to brush hard regardless

i would talk to your dentist on getting a quality toothbrush, the ones they give you for free when you go in are cheap garbage.. i'm not even sure why they give you those anyway. i use an electric one, its way more effective

Steroids will increase blood flow but you still need some type of irritation to cause the bleeding. I agree with the posts above...go with a softer brush and less aggressive brushing.

Makes perfect sense to me - increased blood pressure leads to stronger blood circulation, which in turn causes injuries to bleed more. However, steroids do not cause these injuries, and it seems like your toothbrush is just to hard. Use a softer one, and I am sure that your problems will disappear. Also, you may wash your mouth with oak bark infusion, since it has a time proven ability to strengthen your gums, and has been used as a traditional medicine for hundreds of years.
