How are high fat/protien meal bars? Are they great for bulking up or would I be better off with just meats and shakes..

Most of them are pretty high in fat and overall the macros aren't that impressive in my opinion. Are they good for bulking?
Depends what you mean by good. Personally I don't consider them good bulking food, you might as well eat a Snickers bar.

read what is in them

even the most healthy 'protein bar' contains super high amounts of omega 6 fats which we need, but we ALREADY get too much of. the normal american eats 20 to 1 ratio of bad to good fats. it needs to be 1:1!!

i have a better idea for you instead of a protein bar. eat an avocado instead. they travel very well

As others have already mentioned, whole food is always the best option. But alot of people do throw in some protein bars occassionally, myself included.

If you must eat them, look for low sugar options and bars with as few ingredients as possible. I buy Kirkland brand protein bars from Costco. They aren't the best tasting if you're used to overly sweet processed food but it's like candy to me since I don't eat sweets.

The ingredient profile isn't terrible compared to lot of the crap out there. You have to get then directly from Costco though...they are marked way up on Amazon and other sites.

Meats and rice. Just eat man, bring some tupperware if you are on the go
