Hi all,

I am researching to see if this is for me. I have been working out for a straight year and of course see a change but not enough (or course).

I am 175 5'10"
10-13% Body fat
45 y/o
eat healthy... lean, chicken, veggies, protein shake and creatine
workout 5 days a week

caveat:
I have hypertension but take meds
cholesterol is good and low

What could I use and what could be a good cycle that would good to begin with, I am totally new to this but extremely interested. (but cautious).... I believe education is the key.

Thanks.

steroids can definitely help you but you really need to be eating more. the fact you want to bulk but are extremely lean for a 45 year old tells me you are engaging in something very active all day. do you happen to work construction or a labor job?

if so you have to remember you are going to burn a lot more calories then lets say an accountant or a computer guy

i wouldn't go too crazy but i would consider bumping your calories a bit more.. maybe an extra 200-300 calories is all it will take in your case

also if you are 45 and only been working out a year you gotta be more patient than that. your body does not have muscle memory so feed off from. so you will need to be extra patient and i think you are being a bit too hard on yourself

Totally agree here! You really are just starting, muscle growth is slow and takes time. Be patient and don't jump into something to soon. You have to build that base and with the stats you listed it sounds like your in great shape.

Only agreeing and confirming what was said above....But by all means, do your research so when and if you are ready...you will be prepared when asking educated questions.

I think this is probably a good time to get blood work done too. That way you can see where everything is at after a year of training and you will also have baseline numbers to compare against in case you ever decide to run a PED. At 45 it is a great idea to see where your test levels are at anyways.

I would definitely be cautious with any steroids since your BP is already high.

I would do a testosterone only cycle. Testosterone won't have a huge impact on cholesterol levels or blood pressure since it is already naturally occurring in high concentrations in the male human body. If you use an AI with your cycle like aromasin, your estrogen levels will stay in the normal range and you won't experience much water retention so your blood pressure shouldn't increase much on cycle.

The best thing you can do to improve cholesterol levels is to follow a cholesterol friendly diet - low in saturated fats and refined sugars, and high in omega 3 fatty acids -
and to regularly incorporate hard cardio that really gets your heart rate up into your training program.

A good overall cholesterol support supplement certainly won't hurt either. Check out N2guard from n2bm.com. N2guard contains 43 ingredients designed to detox the body and keep cholesterol levels optimal.

Here's what I recommend:

Weeks 1 - 10
testosterone e or cyp 500mg/week (inject 250mg twice per week)
aromasin 12.5mg every other day <- very important to prevent against estrogen related side effects like gyno and water retention
N2guard 7 capsules/day
fish oil 6-10g per day

After your cycle run the perfect PCT protocol: http://www.evolutionary.org/the-perfect-post-cycle-therapy-pct/

i actually have a desk job, i do have problems with my caloric intake. I am trying to eat more, just find it extremely difficult to pack in that much. I guess i should say, i started working out again about a year ago, slowed down once i got married and had kids. I was always leary about roids but research has educated me and showed me if used properly and responsibly the benefit it huge! Any suggestions on the caloric intake....i appreciate everyones input...thanks

You are the man muskate! Thanks you for the path to start, you are a plethora of information and i definitely respect your input. Thank You!

Thank you to everybody and your input, as with what most 40+ yo do (or at least supposed to), i get a physical every year with a full blood work up. Last one, Sept, was stellar according to my doc, took 50 points off my cholesterol levels (180). Since i still have access to my workup, what should i look for?

Your total testosterone and free testosterone levels. It might be that at such age you even need a testosterone replacement therapy. Which in this case would mean you get to inject testosterone for life.

In any case, I would hold off any cycle thoughts, as one year of gym is really not that much to already start considering steroids.
