Has anyone suffered from Staph infection from pinning ? I recently had it and had to take antibiotics. It really sucked! I don’t want this to happen again! Be careful!

If your gear is clean and you follow good injection protocols/procedure then this shouldn’t happen.

It’s seriously dangerous as the staph infection can form deep in the injection site then you don’t even notice it until it’s an abscess. With that said you can get any type of a bacterial infection from pinning, strep based or worst of all MRSA based too so stay clean.

I would double check your sanitation procedures prior to your next pin, or if you know your good then be cautious of the gear.

Wash your hands, clean the tops of the vials with alcohol, handle the syringe/needle with care, clean the injection site in a circular motion starting in the center and working your way out and let it air dry.

Never happened. Never use needle twice, draw with a different needle even, alcohol, alcohol, alcohol! Clean vial and injection site for a good 8 to 10 seconds with different swabs.

you sure it was a staph infection?

a lot of times doctors will give you antibiotics for swelling and irritation when it wasn't even an infection

Just make sure you are cleaning everything and making sure everything is sanitary.

If this is true and indeed from pinning then you are the first person I have ever heard get an actual infection from pinning steroids.
