Steroids got me sober

Smithmi94

That’s not click bait. I was in rehab 3 years ago because of alcohol abuse and multiple suicide attempts. I needed a “drug” that made me feel better. I didn’t want to die people. That’s why I started taking something that would make me feel better, rather than kill me. I’ve been on this forum, you might recognize me; (I know most of you will think this is backhanded, but it’s not. I’ve never been more happy than I am now.) trust me I know it’s not the best coping device, but you people have helped me, even though I don’t know who you are, or have met you personally, talking to you fellas on this forum about steroids and workouts has been a part of saving me. Just wanted to say thanks. Sincerely.

Well brother, not sure what to say other than glad you are still here. Thank you for sharing. I know you are not the only one who may have felt that way so hopefully someone else reading your story will also take what happened to you in consideration vs ending it.

And i know you said you have been here but welcome back bro

I'm quite happy for you, Smithmi94. My only suggestion is that you please be mindful of the ever-present possibility of estrogen rebound and that you do everything to avoid it. For it is widely thought amongst many clinicians that a casual link exists between estrogen rebound and the onset of depression. As Mobster alluded to, AAS is no less a drug than is heroin and cocaine. As such, it - AAS can lead to severe depression vis-a-vis those are so predisposed.
With that said, Smithmi94, I am delighted to know that this forum serves you so well.

Be well.

I don't think it was the steroids themselves but rather adopting a healthy lifestyle - weight training, eating properly, taking care of yourself etc.

Glad to hear you are back on track brother. Use this forum as motivation to become the best version of yourself possible

well said and i also agree... when you change your lifestyle and take care of yourself, everything changes in your life... you stop living in the dark and see the light of the world... its not the steroids, its being a part of a family oriented community and taking care of yourself, having people to talk to etc... thats what did it for you bro, not the steroids themselves...

it is normal to feel depressed, we are human after all

having a lifestyle/hobby keeps people on track. this is what you had happen and good for you

Yes, from time to time all human beings find themselves depressed. However, what I alluded to was chronic depression which, in the U.S., affects less than one out of ten people.

MAKE SURE u r taking care of your liver bcz u could quite possibly have liver damage. If I were u I would ONLY use injectable no orals & put your self on a 2month cycle of tudca 250mg/day to help rebuild your liver!!

Stay Focussed Smith!!!

Glad to see you turning your focus to a new lifestyle. Fitness is a much better choice! As you become more healthy with your diet and training I bet you wont feel the need to even use steroids anymore.

I think it is more mental than the steroids, I can tell you first hand nothing good comes out of drinking. I started working long hours got injured and started drinking. One thing led to another and got a DWI this weekend. I was not even drunk ran off the road into a tree due to the hurricane and hit a tree and totaled my car. Cops came out and I blew just over the limit. I was going to get more alcohol before it got bad outside. Lucky just my car got the worst of things. Had full coverage on my car so it will be paid for. I don't have an issue to start drinking just when I do, I have to get hammered. Will never touch that crap again. It just makes matters worst and I am kind of lucky this us all that happened. I am going back in the gym next month when my injuries heal up.

This lifestyle has, however, also ruined lives, most especially with respect to those who are predisposed to addictive behaviors.
So beware, Smithmi94. Beware!
