I read somewhere one should draw air into the syringe and then inject it into ampule for easier drawing. Not noting amps tend to be single-use, I did the same thing with a multi-use vial. Should I discard it?

It's to help maintain osmotic pressure in the vial. Not really necessary but it'll make the oil disperse easier when withdrawing. Inject the same amount of air into the vial that you plan on withdrawing
