Intro
Vince Taylor is a former IFBB Professional bodybuilder who is best known for setting the record for the most IFBB titles at 22. That record would later be snapped by Ronnie Coleman who amassed 26.
Taylor also holds the record for most Masters Olympia wins as he dominated the late 90s. He is considered by most experts, including us, as one of the most prolific bodybuilders of all time. In this article, we will go over his life, bodybuilding, and his steroid cycle. But first, check out this video summarizing his entire life
His stats at his peak are 5'9'', and a shredded 230 pounds for competition, and 250 pounds offseason. He is also well known for his terminator posing routine.
Getting his career going in a weird fashion
Taylor was born in 1956 and was always a gifted kid. He played many sports and dominated his older peers throughout childhood, his favorite being football. While weight training, to get better at football, he fell in love with bodybuilding.
Unfortunately, it seemed like the universe did not want Taylor to compete because on his way to his first actual competition, called Mr. Berlin in 1983, he got into 2 car accidents in a row. The first was behind the theater in the car lot and then the 2nd was 150ft away at an intersection where he hit a guy in front of him. Having to wait for the police to figure everything out, Taylor was late to the competition and had to compete in the heavyweight category. This was a blessing in disguise because he ended up winning 1st place.
Taylor took a few years off to improve his physique, and in 1987, he got 4th place at the NPC Nationals. The next year, he came back and won 1st place at the same competition which earned him a Pro Card.
Pro career
Taylor competed at Mr. Olympia in 1988 and got 3rd place, behind the 2 Lee's (Labrada and Haney). That same year he won the Night of Champions and finished 2nd at the Grand Prix England and Finland. In the 1991 Mr. Olympia, he again got 3rd place, this time behind Haney and Yates. His other Mr. Olympia finishes were: 1992 6th place, 1995 5th place, 2006 11th place.
As mentioned earlier, he also competed at the Masters Mr. Olympia and won in 1996, 1997, 1999, 2000, and 2001. In 1998, it was not held for whatever reason.
He briefly retired from bodybuilding in 2002, but a few years later came back at 50 years old and got 3rd place at the 2007 Australian Pro and 3rd at the Arnold Classic.
As mentioned earlier in the article he won 22 titles altogether! And he finished in 2nd or 3rd place in countless others. Here is the full list of his competition history which spans from 1983 to 2007 and deserves to be listed in full:

Notable videos and social
Taylor was in a documentary called 'Getting Pumped' which is quite good.
He also was in 'Beyond the Masters' and 'Vince Taylor Workout'.
His social media on Instagram can be found here
He also has many videos on Youtube floating around.
Training
Taylor trained 6X per week and took Sunday off to watch football and spend time with his family. At his peak, he was known to train twice a day, 1 hour in the morning and 90 minutes later in the day. He stuck to a split routine separating his pushing exercises from pulling. And then incorporating abs, legs, and miscellaneous.
He believes in feeling the muscle working on his lifts and rejects the characterization that he lifts 'heavy weights'. On the flip side, he rejects people saying he does high repetitions. Also, he believes in taking angles and lifting to feel the contraction of the muscle. Overall, he lifted much lighter weights vs. other weight lifters.
An average split workout for him is 30 sets and keeping the rep range between 6-12.
Here he is training the chest with his buddies Shawn Ray and Chris Duffy.
Taylor is still kicking butt even as a senior, he lives in South Florida with his family and can be seen at local gyms.
Nutrition
Taylor's nutrition was not like others at all. Genetics allows you to get away with things others cannot because he never believed in a restrictive diet. One example of that is he liked to drink coke before his workouts.
Another thing is he never found it necessary to eat many meals per day. His diet was very old school and he ate 3 good meals per day and limited the number of carbs, which is similar to how bodybuilders ate in the 70’s.
For example, a typical meal for him would be meat and eggs, that is all and he kept it simple. He talks about how "Overall, I'm not a big food consumer, never have been, never will be."
Steroid Cycle
Taylor touched on steroid use in this video but from a TRT standpoint.
He says he only used a small amount of testosterone but didn't like it and considered even 600mg a week an excess dose. During his peak years he had to keep up with his competition and use steroids, so let's speculate on what kind of cycles he ran:

- 200mgs a week Testosterone
The building block of all steroids, testosterone is a naturally-produced hormone in the body. It is secreted by the testes and is responsible for the balanced growth and maintenance of primary and secondary sexual characteristics in males - deepening of the voice, broadness of shoulders and narrowing of the pelvis, rapid hair growth (especially on the face, legs and pubis), and the production of semen for sexual reproduction. - 1200mgs a week Masteron
Masteron (Drostanolone) is a unique anabolic steroid because of the way it is derived from DHT (dihydrotestosterone). It is altered by the addition of a methyl group at the carbon 2 position.
