Most everyone was either with their families or in the beer tent. I camped out in my own little clearing.

I skied in three acts, which all I had to do was carry my girls and not fall, which I succeeded at! Hahaha.

It was a rough one though, our best driver, who is really the only one qualified to drive our triple engine boat, had a heart attack on Thursday. He’s ok, but we had to put a different driver in our twin engine boat which hasn’t ran all year, and yet another driver who although he is a very competent driver (his son was one of the best show skiers in the world) hasn’t driven in a show in decades. Also our best tier two chick is out for an injury. We should have not attempted our hardest act with that many things changed, and we could have skied safe and gotten into d1 nationals and took last place in August hahahaha. Unless a whole team shit the bed hahaha. We are way too small to take anything but last at D1. So we took third to last skiing our worst show of the year and maybe we’ll get 2nd or 3rd at d2. Which would be cool!

Personally, if I do this again next year, I’ll be trying to get a little more spotlight. I’ve started going over the jump again and I think I can do something with that, and I’m really close to getting up backwards barefooting, which our team has no one doing that in the show right now.

I’m itching to get back under a barbell, but it’s still going to be tough to do. I gotta get right back to work and likely traveling again soon

Sorry to hear about all the unfortunate circumstances but at least you're looking at the positive side. Getting to fight for the win in D2 will probably be more fun anyway.

You do jumps to??? That's nuts. That's a pretty tough skill to train and the consequences can be pretty shitty if it goes bad. I always wondered how those jumpers go good. Can't just train at home. Its a full send type of deal.

I just started going over the jump last weekend after like 11 years of not jumping. I’ll be attempting helicopters soon and I’ll bet if I stay at it I’ll get a front flip some time next year. It’s the really extreme stuff and the repetition that beats you up. There was a dude that did gainers on shoe skies that broke his pelvis, if I’m getting the story right. Had a buddy that did a möbius among other things. He was pretty tore up by his thirties, after skiing professionally on every continent but Antarctica. He actually committed suicide and I always wondered how much of that came from not really being able to do what he loved anymore and the isolation he felt from leaving a community that was everything to him since he was a kid. Don’t know

Damn sorry to hear about your buddy.

Those jumps seem fukn scary. Especially flipping. You're pretty extreme lol. You don't worry about getting even just a minor injury that could mess up work?

it’s a heap but everything works and it doesn’t leak (anymore). I’m the type of guy, I bought a $500 truck and drove it with zero problems for four years, and I bought a $50k truck that was immediately in a hail storm and had been in three accidents, and employee put 11 gallons of DEF in the diesel while it was running, I JUST found a huge deep red gash in the bumper. It throws check engine lights like whack a mole. So much more. Buying nice stuff from a bad luck for me.

It’s scary. Right before you hit it it’s always like, “can’t back out now!”

Nah I don’t worry about it. If it happens it happens. I can fall back on a six figure project manager position that’s been open to me for 10 years. They’ll buy me out too. And even if politics precludes me from that, meh. I’ve lived sooooo humbly before. And every time I let everything go it’s so liberating and so much easier to make my next move. I live my life fully prepared to lose everything because I have before.

Damn sorry to hear about your buddy.

Honestly I climbed poles with a fractured ankle for a little bit until it was obvious to everyone else I needed medical attention. I didn’t miss all that much work when I herniated the discs in my neck, but I did get a guy on my crew who could do most of the physical work, but couldn’t handle being a foreman. I’ll be aight.

When I first got into jumping, my driver and spotter were father and son pro skiers, and the dad’s dad was a driver for cypress gardens. They wouldn’t let me go near the jump until they could whip me through absolutely anything and my posture was unshakable. When you get it right, a simple ride over feels like hopping off the back of a truck🙂. But softer.

One thing about it that’s super crazy: muscle pumps in your feet! That was intense. The bindings are insanely tight

Yeah I don’t have woman problems right now. For the first time in 30+ years. Whenever I’m tempted I just think it through to its logical end. Sometimes I tell the chick how it’s going to end. Doesn’t always work hahaha

Makes sense that the bindings are super tight so they resist you literally getting ripped right outta them haha. You're a Wildman @toddthelineman

Love it. Gotta keep you away from dirt bikes and 4 wheelers cuz I know next thing you know you'd be flipping them too God forbid lol

You have that technical mechanical knowhow, I'm sure you can fix it easy. :D
and I actually find older cars last longer and less issues because less computer lol @toddthelineman

Man I was thinking the mk was not working for me. Been taking it for a week. Started taking it twice a day. It hit me in the middle of the night last night. Woke me up from hunger. I’ve eaten a lot today and it was really hot. I had indigestion from eating so much and exerting myself. I was HANGRY with a full stomach hahahaha. I used to feel like that all the time. I’m glad I know it’s doing something but definitely dialing it back.

That chicken was good. The whole chicken was tasty almost like chicken thighs. I can’t handle dry chicken. I’d risk getting sick before committing to eating dry chicken the salsa I put on it was decent too. But most of my food is as simple as possible. I like to focus on getting the inner temperature and the surface of the meat right. I’m no chef. I enjoy my food but I eat for fuel🙂

@toddthelineman Bro try to increase sleep time.....do meditation before bedtime for deep sleep.........
So I get pretty good sleep some of the time. This particular time I woke early Unintentionally and I knew right away that I wasn’t going to be able to get back to sleep. When this happens to me I’ve learned my best move is to just get up and be productive and avoid a nap later so that I can reasonably expect to get to bed early and get a good nights sleep and with luck, reset my sleep pattern and get some consistency. 🙂.

I’m not exactly sure why I woke up. I did have to pee but not super bad. But I was HUNGRY. I’ve been taking mk677 because I had somewhat lost my appetite and I struggle very much to maintain my weight in the summer time. For the first week the mk didn’t seem to do anything at all, but that night when I woke up it hit me hard and I stayed very hungry all day.

@toddthelineman that’s a neat little grill. Could make some good meals on it.

Haha madman. The boat sounds sick. Is it a stroked 383? I bet it is haha.

Those Honda 3 wheelers got taken off the market cuz they were killn kids. Lucky only the chicken coop paid the price haha. Too bad you don't still have it cuz those things are crazy collectible now.

Ya dirt bikes are big and intimidating if you haven't ridden them a lot. Not being able to get both feet down messes with peoples heads a lot. I got a KTM 690 Enduro R and that thing is a tank off road

Yeah stroker 383.

Idk why anybody ever gave me anything with an engine when I was a kid. They were trying to kill me. But I have an uncanny way of walking out of the hairiest stuff without a scratch. I wrecked a supercharged jet ski into a twin big block mastercraft, both of which were owned by my grandparent’s neighbor. They were like “sure, Todd’s fine with that”. Fucking no I was not. I had driven a 30mph jet ski. That thing was absolutely deadly. I hit the boat so hard I bent the handlebars completely forward. Cracked the boat real good. They took on a ton of water, then tried to lift it all the way out of the water instead of slowly to let the water out. Broke the lift. I was fine, for no reason at all hahaha. I got more stories like that lmao.

I would like to get a big GS when I’m old. I’ll probably do one of bmw’s riding schools. It’s supposed to be a hella good time.

@toddthelineman that’s a neat little grill. Could make some good meals on it.
I’ve probably cooked like five cows on that thing. I used to just throw a bunch of frozen beef in a yeti, and bring that grill on the road with me. I’d just pull whatever I was going to eat that night out of the cooler in the morning, cook like three pounds in the evening, eat most of it that night, snack on the rest the next day. That’s how I ate strict carnivore while traveling for work 4-10 days at a time. If I stayed out more than a week I had to find a store or butcher. Sometimes I could find a farmer with beef available. The grill runs on little butane cans. It gets really hot, and the surface is like thick iron, so once you get a good sear you can turn the gas off and let it cook. It was like $300 and it was worth it. I must have didn’t $1000 on cheap stupid grills. Junk

I just ate 15 tacos lol. This stuff is hilarious! I was six pounds heavier yesterday morning and sweat it all out in this humidity
the interesting thing about nutrobal is you get more appetite and eat more, but you won't gain fat on it.

I’m enjoying it. I did gain six pounds of water in one day! But it’s been miserably humid and I lost it all in sweat. So now, even though I have not hit the iron in weeks, I look very full. My pecs look like I have a pump. Strong stuff.

I wonder what the half life is. I started with12.5 mg mk once at night. I was already taking 1.8 iu serostim in the evening, and had less than my normal appetite. It didn’t seem to be doing anything at all. I started taking 12.5 mg in the morning as well, but I still was forgetting to eat and just not that hungry. I started searching the forum for others’ mk experiments and saw @RoidRage69 say not to use mk with gh. So I figured that was a good reason to save money on gh and give mk an honest try. I believe it was two days later my appetite came back very strongly. So I dropped the morning dose and now I feel, regularly hungry but not so hungry that I’m having irrational thoughts hahahaha.

@toddthelineman thats interesting. You're confirming my thought that using hGH and mk677 nutrobal as a stack is not needed. :D

Maybe for someone doing something more extreme than me it would be good. I don’t want to have to do any blood sugar manipulation.
Smart move, stay away from insulin for sure. :D

13 hours of work you're beasting it, thats a lot of cable damn!
you need that food to get things going smart move

Lol damn bro. Like I said...mad man.

I have a supercharged Yamaha gp1800r svho. When I bought it the guy was telling me you need to recalibrate your brain for how hard it launches. I was like whatever old man, I've been riding superbikes for 22 years. Man was he right. The first time I launched it it was proper scary lol. By the end of the season tho I was already looking for ways to tune it up.

That BMW riding school is supposed to be a blast. I have a few buddies with GS' and one buddy with a k1200. They all love them. I'm still a bit too much of a hoon for one of those yet.

I’m pretty pleased with it too! Especially unmedicated. It’s because I’m getting good sleep, for sure! I hadn’t unpacked my cuff since my last trip, and this MK seems to have put 5-6 pounds of water on me, looking very much like the blue tops I used to get. Those blue tops had my blood pressure scary high. So I see that mine is acceptable and that’s encouraging. I have ANOTHER tournament coming up and we’re practicing or performing every day AND I just got dumped on at work by a new old customer I’ve been trying to get back and the last of everything on my current project, which will light up three towns when it’s done. So I haven’t made time to lift at all and I done think I will for two more weeks. I’m just making work my cardio by jogging whenever I can and it’s always a good arm and core workout. I can actually get pretty serious pumps pulling cable

I bought that pizza and went to the end of where we were pulling the cable, told my guys I had the pizza and that they better get there with the end before it was gone lmao. I got halfway through it before they got there. Fun little incentive

Probably a good thing you don't. The mastercraft boats cost as much as a Lambo these days lol
Yeah but you can get a 30 year loan lol. All my show ski friends’ personal boats are old. Mostly carbureted. Because you can ALWAYS make it run and it’s all about the other end of the rope you know? My favorite boat I owned was an 83 nautique that buddy bought from me because he just had to have it. He’d never skied, at 53 years old, and I took him out and he caught the bug instantly. He put like 300 hours on it the very first year. He keeps talking about buying a big nautique, like a g23. Crazy as hell. Imagine a big dock rash on a boat like that? I would hate it. Would make me sick. I like having fun. I wipe my boat down when I’m done and I keep it running tip top and wax it once a year. The rest is all fun. If a little kid throws sand in it I’m not trippin

Lol no take off your shoes when you get it my boat type thing eh. That's how it should be.

When I was a kid we drove an hour to a competition cuz my mom heard they were towing with a ski nautique. It was the only time ever i got pulled behind one and it took my skiing to another level that day. At that point the best boat I had skied behind was a neighbour's j craft. I'd still say to this day that nautique is the best ride I've ever had. The wake was almost non existent. So good for slalom.

Oh my grandparents’ neighbors Mastercraft that I crashed into?! Yeah that thing was like a 1 of 5 prototype. The predecessor to the x80. Twin 454s! Basically a priceless boat. The neighbors were husband and wife both retired neurosurgeons. They were pretty pissed. My grandparents did have their kind of money but they did really good with what they had. They wrote a check for it all but they were never friends again. I felt pretty stupid and really bad about it all, but like, there’s no way I would give a kid that kind of machine man. That jet ski was retarded. Their grandson was on the back telling me to jump around in the wake of the boat. They slowed down right after I gunned it. Had no control. The kid bailed and I absolutely should have died

Ya giving that kinda power to a kid.... crazy. You like actually could've died. Crazy people.

My buddy’s barefoot Sanger outboard is theee flattest wake I think possible. It’s soooooo light. Mine is a bit so close second with it being so much lighter than stock. The sw platform is way above the water hahaha.

Barefoot Sanger wake this morning. It’s the only boat I feel comfortable crossing the wake barefoot. Mine, I can do it, the bubbles aren’t bad, but there’s a little more steepness going in. I HATE falling barefoot because I’m scared to hurt my neck, I know I’m healed now and when I do fall I’m never standing tall, but it still messes with me

Sick. Is that you barefooting in the pic? You weren't kidding about the no wake. That looks like a dream to ski.

That old Merc 200 looks mint. I always loved those ones. They're one of my favorite motors ever.

Yeah that’s me today, getting my reps in. The whole boat is original and in fantastic shape. 1989, I believe. I do upholstery as a hobby and will be doing some cushions for that boat soon.

Man is there anything you don't do???

Post some pics of the boat when you get a chance. I'd love to see it. You live on a river? Or you tow it over to go ski?

I live on the rock river, and my buddy who owns the Sanger keeps it on a lift at his in-laws house. We usually alternate who’s boat we use but he only barefoots and we wind up using his boat more. Which is great hahaha.

Lots of stuff I don’t do but I do a lot for sure. I feel like you can pay a business a lot of money to do a bad job probably, or you can do a bad job yourself for less, maybe do a good job!

Lol I say the exact same thing every time. Anytime I just say fuck it and pay someone to do something I end up pissed off with the work they do. The problem is finding the time to do everything yourself. Inevitably shit just ends up piling up on you.

I bought that pizza and went to the end of where we were pulling the cable, told my guys I had the pizza and that they better get there with the end before it was gone lmao. I got halfway through it before they got there. Fun little incentive
LOL! ;) i can imagine you sitting eating pizza faster as the cable goes. @toddthelineman

Yeah I have projects piled up to the moon. A homeowner’s association would have me in front of a firing squad hahaha. My buddy’s attorney paid $7k for an upholstery job on a ski boat, they stapled new vinyl to rotten wood. Lasted one season barely and the whole helm seat turned to dust. I rebuilt it to fit the vinyl. Very challenging for me, but he’s a really good traffic attorney and he lives on the river too, so I did it for free. I am definitely good enough to make money doing it now, so I’m getting my work and name out there. It’s fun, easy on the body.

Thinking about life after lineman work? It would be nice to make a hobby your job. I'm hoping to do the same. I'd like to go apprentice at at motorcycle shop once I got some fuck you money to live off.

My biological dad retired as a bike mechanic, after working on Saabs, then forklifts for like 25 years.

And yeah, I’ll need income when I retire and something to keep me busy. There’s several things I think about, but boats are top of the list. I live near Wisconsin. There’s so much water here. There’s a fella who has a monopoly on taking lifts and docks in and out for winter and spring. He’s getting pretty old and crazy lol. And a close friend of mine built his barge. I’m thinking about building my own barge from an old pole setting truck. Then I’ll just hire all the teenage boys from the ski teams. Just like he did for 40 years. Lots of people have tried to buy him out. My friend works for him now. Thinking my money and his youth and time could make a beautiful Partnership. And we can start secretly building it up now, let someone else buy out the old man, and we take all the accounts because we’ve already started… muahahahaha!

A little bird told me communication line work is going to boom for the next 6 years, then it will implode again. If I don’t have a company that can run itself(and maintenance contracts from the cities I’m building now) for the most part by then, I’ll be 51, and it’s time to cash in whatever I can and relax. I won’t be rich no matter what, but hopefully I’ll make some great opportunities for the next generation and they can carry me a little bit in return

Yep I remember you telling me about you biological dad being a bike mechanic and loving BMW's.

Both those possibilities sound like a really good plan. The guys who do the dock installs around my parents place charge a fortune but everyone just pays it like nothn. People are lazy, and only getting lazier. The market will definitely grow in the future. Plus you'd be busy twice the year doing docks making a bunch of money and the rest of the time you could do upholstery work at your leisure.

Marine mechanics get paid a shit ton up here. Not sure bout where you're at, but you could leverage your wrenching skills in that way too. People with bad upholstery might need engine work too.

Bike mechanics charge a shit ton here too. My local shop is $175/hr. I can do all the usual maintenance and basic repair stuff myself already. I figure if I apprenticed for a few years I'd gain more skills and I could just go wrench on bikes for a living after that. Could travel and post ads wherever I'm at and work on people's stuff in their garages.

Yeah an aunt and uncle of mine quit their jobs to do gelcoat repair on boats mostly in Lake Michigan. Yachts and stuff. All rich clients. Theyre doing well and very happy. The shop that builds most of the twin and triple engine ski show boat hulls is on the same road as my shop.

My home town is kinda poor and trashy, not the best but it’s doable. People are doing it

@BeMe this is my friend’s Sanger.
Holy shit that thing looks fukn sick! That retro paint job looks insane and those windscreens he put on it make it look like something Batman would drive. You weren't kidding about the way it sits on the water too. It's practically hovering lol.

That thing must fly when it's flat calm.

It’ll do 68, I think, but I’ve seen it do 60. Fast enough to get ahead of most boats, and get out on the rope and still be ahead of them hahahaha. My boat has almost double the power, it launches really hard but I’m lucky to get 46 mph. With more than one footer it gets down to like 43. Not ideal

Thanks bro. I’m abstaining from iron for the next two weeks. I was going to try to get two days of full body lifting per week but there’s just no way rn

It's all about weight and hull design when it comes to speed. Your boat can probably handle choppy water a whole lot better I bet

No it’s THE WORST hahaha. But it doesn’t lean much when people move around the boat. The ski Naitoque handled the chop really well, it could do 45 miles an hour even with a 200 pound barefooter , and it had 100+ less horsepower than my Malibu. It was a superior boat just really small.

Oh really??? I guess it's just a weight issue then?

Very flat from the pylon back. So lots of surface touching the water. The nautique especially is more v shaped, so it planes out more. That boat can actually jump a few inches out of the water if you punch it full throttle. Then, inboard direct drive boats have the prop pushing the stern up and the bow gets pushed down. With the Malibu, this really forces a lot of friction. The nautique counteracts with the more narrow v shape, but that makes it really sensitive to weight distribution. I have a friend, a previous owner of my Malibu, who was an engineer for Malibu. He helped design the Malibu sportster, and they let him take home a corvette Malibu for like a year hahahaha. He explained all this to me when he said I was wasting my time adding a lot of horsepower to the boat. It’s true I only gained like 1mph, but it’s still an improvement in many ways. The torque is awesome and useful. It holds speed anywhere from 9mph to 43 without having to constantly adjust the throttle. It’s on plane instantly and at barefoot speed basically as fast as you can go through the steps to stand up. But mostly it sounds awesome. Even little kids are like “this boat is different ” hahaha

I was reading the updates on your log. Did you/do you compete?

I never ever see people in the real world with physiques like you, man.

And your post about planning the cycle and sticking to it is very inspiring. I had zero plan when I started this log, and with encouragement from you and everyone else I feel like I’ve learned a lot and got a glimpse of what I could do with a proper plan. I let too much chaos into my routine, for sure.

I think I’m going to copy and paste that post into a note that I can reread when I need to. Very motivational!

Boats expensive
Friends with boats are priceless! I make my boating lifestyle affordable by doing most of my skiing on a team ($250/year, plus a decent amount of work to keep it all going), having friends with boats so all the gas and maintenance isn’t just on me, doing all my own maintenance and repairs(still adds up, but once you’ve got the basics dialed in old boats run like muscle cars. Very simple and cheap), and I invite lots of friends many of whom will put gas money in the glove box. I never ask for it, but I haven’t paid for gas in years. It’s very rewarding. Take some friends out, teach their kids to ski or pull them on a tube, it’s the most fun some people have IN THEIR ENTIRE LIVES🙂.

Nothing worse than boating alone. I tell all my friends, you are always invited, if you ever want to go, just ask me, don’t wait for me to ask, I already want to go for sure.
