My son is 17 and he's telling me about this whey protein and creatine. He's 17 so should I even allow him to take these supplements? He sees me taking different supplements even asked me about hcgenerate.

At that age most parents are fine with there children taking supplements such as Protein powders and creatine. Protein powders arent on the hazardous side, seeing as most of the ingredients are safe and can be beneficial for your health. Creatine can be found in red meat, but is a far shot from the recommended dosage from the stuff you buy in stores. If I were to keep an eye on what hes taking, I would aim your focus more towards pre workout powders, most are loaded with stimulants and garbage that aren't good for anyone. Ultimately that choice is up to you as the parent.

nice to see a parent taking an interest in this sort of thing :)

both supplements are perfectly fine in my unprofessional opinion.

Whey is a byproduct of cheese and produced by all major dairy companies. Its used in plenty of food products most baby formulas.

Creatine is a*is a nitrogenous acid*that helps to supply energy*into the muscle. This is achieved by increasing ATP.*It can be found in red meats including steak.

At worst, the biggest problem people (excluding myself) seem to have with both supplements is protein farts (from the whey) and muscls cramps (creatine). I have never experienced either and honestly dont know how comon either are.

Just remember, they are supplements (additions to something) so hopefully his diet and training is well and truly in line with his goals. If it is, both supplements will slightly aid his performance in different ways - possible increases in strength and recovery/muscle building.

You do not get muscle cramps from creatine. Where did you even come up with this.

As for the question - your son should first fix up his diet, then consider supplements

You probably already know what im going to say but, a cause for the muscle cramps could be lack of hydration? Creatine will cause intra muscular water retention so that shouldnt be the issue. Without sufficient water intake throughout the day, you will most likely be cramping up a bit. I like to think of it this way, if you run an engine without oil, it will seize, same principal as with water and muscles.

Mate, I made it clear in my post, i don't but others reckon they have suffered cramps whilst using creatine. Friends that have used it have complained about muscle cramps. Are their cramps caused by creatine? No not in my opinion on and not from my experience. Is it caused from a lack of proper hydration? - most probably.....

when i was 17 I took nothing and still gained. I never saw anybody using anything in my school weight room. today parents are much more 'helicopterized' so they want to stick their nose into the kids stuff so this is an excellent question

as long as your kid isn't using something suppressive to the HPTA or that is stimulant based, it is safe to use.

so creatine, whey protein, and hcgenerate are perfectly safe

the only caveat is get a QUALITY version of the first two. many supplements are filled with sugars, hard to digest stuff, and other fillers that will just make your kid fat and make him have to shit at school with a stomach ache.

n2bm creatine ancient strength is capsulated, so easy to take and pure.. and their whey isolate is free of garbage

They are perfectly safe for a 17 year old but not completely necessary. He should really be learning how to eat for gains and not rely on supplements. If his mindset is that food is still best then there are no issues at all.

As a general rule, these are extremely safe supplements to take, especially when used properly, but I would rather recommend spending this money on very good nutrition - at this age high quality natural food will do much more for your son than these supplements. Besides, high quality food will give your son the same benefits as these supplements, and much more. At this age kids don't really need more than good food.

Not nessery to take supplement in this age just focus on diet...when i was 17 i did not take any supplemnt and i achieved nice gain with real food

Whey protein and creatine are both safe to use by teenagers. Whey protein is simply a milk protein derivative and supplement creatine is nothing more then the amino acids glycine, arginine, and methionine synthesized together. It is not a hormone and does not require a PCT (post cycle therapy).

If a 17 year old want to use supplements, get him to use the basic 'foundation' supplements like whey protein, fish oil, creatine and good quality multivitamin.

Educate him on what supplements are and what they are used for. If you simply tell him no he's going to go behind your back and buy supplements himself.
