Low thyroid issues.

Hey guys,

I hope someone out there has some 'magic' insight that I could really use. Here is my background:

In high school during a football physical I learned that I had some cardiac murmur that was resolved, however I always had some issues with weight/fat. Well, some preliminary blood tests found that I had an underactive thyroid (all levels were low) but I had no health insurance and was unable to follow up with this.

By the end of my first year out of HS I had exploded to 278 pounds at only 5'9"; but I found the gym and was determined to lose weight after a visit with a local doc (eventually got insurance through Walmart) told me I had until I was 36 to live if I kept it up. I didn't understand what to do as my diet was usually around 2500 calories. But I began to destroy my body, I ran until I would black out and walk 20+ miles at work every day. The only nutrition I had was strawberry syntha-6 and a multi-vitamin.... For four months. I dropped to 200 pounds and felt amazing but hit a major plateau.

Since then I began working on admissions into medical school and have been working the medical field since high school, so I understand a bit about the human body. And now that I have put on a good bit of muscle, I really want to lose this last bit of fat, but 100% strict diets and absurd amounts of hiit and cardio can't even budge my weight. Even with properly dosed Clen!! To be honest, 40mg a day of drop and 3500-4000 calories a day was barely enough to put on 10 pounds after six weeks.

This makes me wonder if my thyroid issues are the root of this problem and am searching for info on say, a t3/t4 supplement that may help. Or, if I would be lucky enough to find someone that was able to get out of the same rut.

I hit the plateau three years ago. And even though I am in much better stronger condition now.. I would just love to drop this last bit of padding. So thanks for all help brothers!

I feel you , I've been on synthroid most of my life.Your thyroid is an amazing thing and controls everything .A good Endo and keep working out like a Mutha. I take a sick dose daily of synthroid daily and still fight the issues.Good luck your not alone.

Also , You dont want to be over active ,If you are you get all kinds of negative issues as well. You'll need to stay in the high end of normal and push through it with steroids...and diet

Warmouth, I haven't had anything recently. But if it is part of the normal hormone panel I can look for it when I have bloods done this week? If not and I need to have an additional test what would I need to add?

Rock: it really is an amazing organ, and it isn't just by itself, it is so connected with the parathyroid and limbic system that it controls much of our lives.
What is synthroid? Any good locations to get it?

The doc but I think you can get it through most of the pharm grade sources.I take an amazing 450 mcg daily 3 150 pills.I still maintain at the low end of normal. Most docs havent seen this dose but it is what it is...

Bro get your thyroid levels tested it's not uncommon at all the thyroid is complicated

My Best Advice:
Get your Thyroid Levels tested.
Then if needed, go see an Endocrinologist and let him put you on the Medication.
In the Beginning, you need a couple Blood Panels to get your Dosage Correct.............................. JP
P.S.
From your previous experience, and what you're saying now, your Thyroid could be the Culprit.
It's an easy fix under an Endo's care.

I'm on levothyroxin (t4) for Lo thyroid it blows but once it's regulated I'll feel a lot better if your thyroid is the issue.

1st.....get bloods and find out exactly what your dealing with.

than you can go about hormones, but don't push things too much. let the doc's do their job and you should be able to get in the gym and put in hard work & it will pay off.

once things are very stable, you can go for a light cycle.

Try nascent iodine. Survival shield brand is the best quality I've found.

you aren't alone.. a lot of people have thyroid problems

you can try getting on a high green veggie program.. I recommend kale shakes every morning and see how you do

if that doesn't work then you might have to get thrown on T4 for life.

I would see a Doc cause sounds like you got insurance handled, if not go run bloods yourself. Optimum Thyroid functionality is imperative to achieving your goals..

I don't know all the ins and outs but from what I understand selenium and iodine as well as boron play a role in a properly functioning thyroid and most are deficient in this area

Sounds good guys, I kinda have insurance figured out. But since I am in the military I am going to have to wait for my blood to clear up, and even then I still have to worry about getting kicked out for having a thyroid issue.

That's why I was going to try and get some labs done by myself, and go from there but I am not certain which labs to order

Thanks everyone for all the help!
