Veteran Log Why fasting helps you live longer, helps build more muscle. and my prolong fast LOG

So one of mobsters buddies came on the podcast who has had severe crohns his whole life. He couldn’t figure out what to do. Tried all the meds and diets and nothing worked. He ended up getting advice from the right person
He tried a diet of raw dairy, almost raw meat and lots of fasting

He is now a world champion powerlifter and has his crohns under control. It just shows that everyone is different in what will work for them nutrition wise. So you gotta figure it out. His son also has the same issues so it’s genetic.
This is why I want to strangle these online gurus who copy/paste the same nutrition plans to everyone. Everyone is gonna be different ! Some people do good on carnivore and some people don’t. Same with raw dairy. Some cannot digest it at all and some can.. fasting though is universally something that we evolved doing so it absolutely needs to be done by ALL. no matter your situation as the benefits are too great.

And it’s a lifelong thing too. I’m still learning what my body likes and doesn’t and it changes over time. So it’s a lifelong battle. But most people in North America just eat crap and feel like crap. They think it’s normal to be sick all day and have bathroom issues. i used to work in an office and every morning you had the same guys stinking up the bathroom on the toilet for 30 minutes with diarhea. you would have thought by now they would have figured out what they were eating before work was no good, but they are too stubborn to change. it will only hurt you long term to stress your body like that. Gut health controls everything
Fully agreed here, fasting works for everyone. It's a universal aid for digestion and longevity. :D @stevesmi

This is interesting

Weigh-in today was 165 on the dot. this is the lowest I have weighed since I was around 27 years old almost 20 years ago before i ever touched steroids. I'm gonna start posting some updated physique pics in a couple weeks once i get shaved since I am a hairy beast right now.

abs are starting to pop really good. i'm doing a lot more core training which should help them get more developed and harder.

I increased the reta dose back to 2.4mg from 1.8 for this week
killed my appetite bigtime. I can manage 1-2 meals a day. that is it. and if i eat the wrong thing i feel in trouble
workout this morning was very good.

will take tomorrow off and then tuesday hit it again

here is my lunch from today
this is grassfed top round. also ate some fruit with it. now is the season for guenepa and lychee which are 2 of my favorite fruits. also had mixed veggies,

then for dinner i had a turkey sandwich with coconut yogurt, lettuce and 1 oatmeal cookie (no sugar all natural)

on my workout days my appetite is better. on non workout days reta kills it. so it works good for cal cycling.

@stevesmi you're getting very lean, impressive. :D but what are the sides you have? you said "if I eat the wrong thing I feel in trouble" how do you feel? you mean bloat or what feeling?

like an overeating feeling of i wish i wouldn't have eaten that

just gotta be careful how much you eat on this stuff. it slows gastric emptying so if you overeat in 1 sitting you will find yourself struggling a little bit with that 'full feeling' which makes it hard to workout

@stevesmi That is some good looking fruit. I'm gonna have to see if I can find that in my area. I'm sure it has a ton of antioxidants.

i have found leaner meats digest easier
i can't handle high fat meats on this reta probably due to slow gastric

the guenepa is supposed to help burn fat. it has some fat burning chemicals in it
tons of anti oxidants. all tropical colorful fruits have tons of anti oxidants

@stevesmi how tall are you? 165 is low

@stevesmi how tall are you? 165 is low
i'm 5'5''/5'6''
as i stated this is the lowest i've weighed since my late 20's. i'm very surprised how much weight i have lost but i weighed all of 119 pounds when i was in high school. i've always been skinny as a rail growing up and very lean.
highest i've weighed is about 197-198 in mid 30's and benching 420 and squatting 600.. those days are long gone. different goals today but 165 looks good on me and health markers look outstanding.

remember the idea of this log right now is to lose body fat and weight. that is the logic of using retatrutide so i am going to roll with wherever it takes me man. if i end up at 150 or 155 pounds then so be it. its about helping others on this one.

Okay so am doing update on my reta ride
I moved my dose back down to 2mgs. i've been alternating it as high as 2.4mgs
my current weight this morning is 162.6. had a really tough workout yesterday evening

wanted to report on some things that are happening to me on retatrutide as I am now a full 8 weeks into it

1. on days i train HARD and burn a ton of calories my appetite is very good. on days where i don't train as much or rest my appetite is very low like i can fast all day with zero hunger. the logic here is you burn a ton of fat the more you train. this stuff turns your body into a fat and calorie burning machine.
2. i notice i pee more on this stuff. I researched this and I believe this is similar to what happens while you are actually fasting. to dumb it down those fat stores have to go SOMEWHERE to get expelled and for me urinating it out is the way my body likes to do it. for others they might sweat it out or breathe it out. just an FYI CO2 is exhaled through lungs and H20 is excreted from urine and sweat. I'm not a huge sweater so for me urination is the way my body prefers to get rid of it. I get up at night and pee A LOT at once. and I also pee before bed and when i wake up.
what makes this very fascinating is I am NOT peeing out ketones like i would during a fast. so these GLP-1's are not putting you into ketosis yet i am still losing so much body fat. it is quite amazing.
3. my weight drops more after a strong cardio workout. so the more you train on this stuff the more you will lose
4. the studies on reta show a 20% loss of total body weight from those who use it 6 months. earlier someone said I was getting too lean on this stuff. well that IS sort of the point DUH. you don't use retatrutide to bulk. that would be like saying I'm going to use dbol to cut. it makes no sense. . I started out at 180 pounds so if i lose 20% of my body weight that would put me at 144 lol. I don't plan on getting THAT lean but it could happen. considering in 8 weeks i have lost around 16.5 pounds that is about 2 pounds a week. i expect that weight loss to slow down obviously.

anyone have any questions feel free to ask I can't think of anything else right now

I think this is an amazing testimonial from a guy who actually does fasting about retatrutide benefits. You obviously had food control in order already and look how reta worked magic! 16lbs down is amazing, I'm surprised. @stevesmi

I think this drug is the best fat burner on the planet and the studies prove it

add in fasting, iron clad diet, and daily exercise and the results are outstanding.

are you still having issues digesting fatty foods?
how about things like fruit and fiber, those help or hurt?

great job
I think the key on these drugs is you have to have your diet and training dialed in.
I've seen a lot of people use them with very minimal success.

how you gonna fight me when you stop by to fish with me?
gonna pick you up and throw you into the pond
fight? NO
i don't fight
but fish yea

are you still having issues digesting fatty foods?
how about things like fruit and fiber, those help or hurt?
I haven't eaten fatty foods lately

i do eat fruit. but you won't be able to eat a lot

I don't plan on getting THAT lean but it could happen. considering in 8 weeks i have lost around 16.5 pounds that is about 2 pounds a week. i expect that weight loss to slow down obviously.

anyone have any questions feel free to ask I can't think of anything else right now
bros this impressive
you showing how to use retatrutide so others can learn
that going to help so many people

thanks for taking the time to educate others
i've learned more from you over the years then anyon else

i'm 5'5''/5'6''
as i stated this is the lowest i've weighed since my late 20's. i'm very surprised how much weight i have lost but i weighed all of 119 pounds when i was in high school. i've always been skinny as a rail growing up and very lean.
highest i've weighed is about 197-198 in mid 30's and benching 420 and squatting 600.. those days are long gone. different goals today but 165 looks good on me and health markers look outstanding.

remember the idea of this log right now is to lose body fat and weight. that is the logic of using retatrutide so i am going to roll with wherever it takes me man. if i end up at 150 or 155 pounds then so be it. its about helping others

I can manage 1-2 meals a day. that is it. and if i eat the wrong thing i feel in trouble
workout this morning was very good.

will take tomorrow off and then tuesday hit it again

here is my lunch from today
this is grassfed top round. also ate some fruit with it. now is the season for guenepa and lychee which are 2 of my favorite fruits. also had mixed veggies,

then for dinner i had a turkey sandwich with coconut yogurt, lettuce and 1 oatmeal cookie (no sugar all natural)

on my workout days my appetite is better. on non workout days reta kills it. so it works good for cal cycling.

see pics of food
If you don’t mind me asking, where are you getting your retatrutide? I need a clean trusted source and am just afraid of getting some bunk stuff. Thanks!

@stevesmi that’s some great weight loss man. Looks like it’s doing its thing

That is alot of cool and awesome information steve! Ive learned so much from this log and the glp1 episodes you have done with the podcast, that sounds like the best of everything! Dont eat when u dont workout hard or train get hungry when the body actually needs the fuel, its a miracle drug damn near.

Went through the first post, cannot agree more with what @stevesmi says. Once every few years I fast 7 days, barely any electrolytes and I never feel better. Maximum fat loss happens during those times, I think I need to make this an yearly event.

There is a reason why every religion has fasting days in the name of god. More important if the person is not exercising.

the downside is if you come off
so before someone uses it they need to consider their long term plans.
but the same can be said about any fat loss drug

yes we have been fasting since the homosapiens first walked the earth 2.5M years ago. our competition went extinct because they couldn't survive long famines like we could. same can be said about many animals out there who have managed to survive and thrive through famine

it is in our DNA to use fasting to our advantage and the benefits are incredible whether you are a top level IFBB pro or you are a soccer player or football player. fasting can benefit any sort of athlete no matter what your goals are.

Yeah that is true, for normal people that will be a shock what happens if they come off, for people like us who workout or body build, as you said in the podcast it is super beneficial for us, especially going into a cut or comp, then gaining some of the weight back to be in a sustainable range, really beneficial for those reasons.

There may be long term side effects for any drugs, these are still new. But at this point with a damaged metabolism and stubborn body fat, I dont see the reason to come off at all. Yet to start Reta, but 5mg Tirz split into 2 already bot my A1c from 5.2 to 4.6 and fasting insulin from 15 to 9 and put a complete break on my random eating as I worked from home.

I follow this doc and the positives might outweight the negatives on a maintanance dose for long term or even life long use. Though you should still be good without it if you follow a very good life style, which most dont.

I think a dose of 1mg every 2 weeks would work fine for people to add to their hrt long term.
and as they develop better options down the line people can always graduate to those.
We simply live such a privileged lifestyle where we can eat what we want when we want. It’s almost like we need these glp1 and controlled fasting to overcome it
I mean every middle aged male in North America today who isn’t a methead has a gut. The wealthy Mideast countries are even more obese and other places like Asia with a growing middle class with people eating out more and consuming sugar are getting there
We gotta do what is necessary to offset this

If you come off any glp-1 drug, you will not be able to control your appetite. Trust us, it's a FACT. @John Carmack

@stevesmi you've been fasting and had appetite control before retatrutide or GLP1s so its a night and day situation.

I was merely speaking on the lack of education side of the coin with this, many who get on these drugs dont look at the long term or understand from a weight loss perspective what happens when you come off if you dont learn proper nutrition and diet/portion control, many get on them and lose weight due to the fact they just dont eat or they eat once maybe twice a day and are way lower in calories than they should be even for weight loss, ive seen it happen, these drugs are fantastic when utilized correctly and people put the time and effort into making a complete life change for the better. I would cycle off because i body build and was speaking from a competition stand point as i would use it when in a hard cut to drop weight and again for that extra push in % needed to be peeled on stage for 1 day, its something id cycle off just because my goals and mindset are different and why i would utilize the drug would be different from a normal person who doesn't body build, if that makes sense.

100% true, I already feel it if I miss it on the day of injection. For now I dont plan to for another year or two and then taper it down, which is how it needs to be done anyway. But will surely add reta to the mix, its next level.
I dont see a problem with it, its just something you need to be aware of. Better inject retatrutide than be fat lol :P

Avoid Super fatty foods cus they will exaggerate the gastric emptying effect and I've seen someone end up in hospital after consuming a bunch of fat whilst on sema
100% man. it almost works to peoples advantages cause they will no longer able to eat things like fast food or pizza, etc. super oily burgers, fries, etc.

I like this log not just entertaining, but you take your time to educate and explain the things you're doing.
That’s what it’s all about man. Information and knowledge is what separates the smart from the ignorant in our society.

A lot of the stuff over the years on fasting and nutrition learned was from people I talked to and interviewed on early podcast episodes. Plus reading all the studies we have seen put out and data. I’ve had several guys on here email me studies they’ve come across too. So I’ve been able to mash it all on here pretty good.

@stevesmi information is what makes strong broly i love the info you put out on the podcast with @Mobster

Just wanted to post up some musings about how GLP-1's and fasting have completely destroyed the concept of IIFYM. This should have never been a debate in the first place but there are some very stubborn people out there who insisted that IIFYM (if it fits your macros) was a legitimate diet idea. They based this on hormones in the body did not matter. it was all about just calories in/out that determined weight gain/loss. this means you can eat every 2 hours, eat pizza, fast food, mcdonalds, subs, and all that other crap and not worry about a thing since at the end of the day just like were were robots its all about cals in/out. I've always argued that you can calculate calories in to some degree, but calories out and hormonal changes (which both CANNOT be calculated accurately on a day to day basis or even week to week basis) in the body will ultimately determine fat gain or loss. We see this example with weight watchers where people count points and eat in a deficit and fail to lose weight, in fact many GAIN weight following those types of calorie counting diets.

anyway we've seen guys like Dr. Jason Fung argue that hormones play a huge role in fat gain or loss and how fasting helps change your bodies fat burning abilities by improving insulin sensitivity. Now I don't agree with EVERYTHING he advocates however on this particular topic he has been proven 100% accurate and I never doubted him for a second because he always backed his shit up with HUMAN STUDIES without bias. It was always amazing to see guys like Layne Norton, Milos Sarcev and other meathead online gurus attack those people and call them wrong without a shred of scientific evidence. Of course these guys can lift heavy ass weights and look like huge bodybuilders so they must be smarter then a geeky looking guy in glasses right? It's just 'trust me bro' mentality. It makes me sick to know how much BETTER these guys could look if they listened to the science and how much better the people they coach could look.

Well if these GLP'1's aren't evidence of who is right and who is wrong then at this point you can chalk up enlarged ego and ignorance on these folks. You see, you can eat the SAME FOODS and take GLP'1's and STILL LOSE BODY FAT. why? cause they effect your hormones in the body. OR you can already be eating perfect for years and not get good results, but then go on a GLP-1 and implement fasting and have terrific results in a short time period.you can also STOP taking the GLP-1's and STILL EAT THE SAME WAY and GAIN FAT BACK!! yes the studies show this and we have seen the anectodal evidence of this. So our bodies ABSOLUTELY are effected by hormones. The same logic as to why pregnant women GAIN tons of fat/weight during pregnancy even if they eat the same diet, their hormones change! the same reason they produce milk like magic too. hormones PLAY A HUGE ROLE. same reason if you run a ton of dbol and test and don't use an AI you too can have lactating nipples. HORMONES ARE IMPORTANT and ignoring them and pretending they don't matter is a huge roadblock to your sucess.

Retatrutide does 3 things as a triple agonist which I go in detail on my podcast https://www.evolutionary.org/evolut...de-benefits-and-new-studies-by-geneza-pharma/

the 3 things are:

1. GLP-1 of course which regulates insulin secretion and appetite (exactly what Dr. Jason Fung has been saying for YEARS to some deaf ears)
2. GIP which improves glucose and lipid metabolism (exaclty what time restricted fasting and long term fasting accomplishes)
3. GCG which effects glucagon (glucagon will rise during a fasted state while insulin drops) This effects how energy is expended and puts you into a fat burning mode.

when you eat in a time restricted window, implement fasting AND add retaturide to the mix you put your body into a fat burning mode WITHOUT the nasty side effects found in other fat burning drugs. Insulin is controlled and glucagon is humming right along. It is truly the best way to burn fat in 2025. The magic formula is here.

Now I'm seeing these meatheads putting out videos admitting that GLP-1's work, but now their logic is still assinine. They claim it only works because people eat less on them which is 100% innacurate. people in the studies ATE THE SAME WAY. The placebo group lost 1% of body weight, the Retatrutide group lost 20%. and then the Retatrutide group who came off who also kept the SAME DIET gained weight back. Listen to the podcast where I expalin the studies in depth. it is a never ending cycle of stupidity and ignorance with these people SMH. They will never admit they were wrong no matter what.

The lesson is when it comes to this stuff listen to the people who bring the science and not the people who bring the bro science.

Every time I read your post, its like reading my mind out haha. Calories in vs Calories out is Decent to a level but BS concept if the food used is all junk. Fasting, eating least processed food, working out, walking, avoiding foods you are intolerant too are all the right concepts. I once told Layne Norton that me eating more sucralose (a chloro carbon) causes hair loss and heart palpitation. He had just launchd his own supplements just then. His reply? "There are no studies proving what you are saying". I was like WTF, if there are no studies it cannot happen? I then stopped following him. The only thing i learnt useful from him was his leucine studies.

Also when it comes to mixing GLP-1s it seems like some people suggest mixing Sema with Reta instead of Tirz with Reta. The reason being Reta already does the 2nd and 3rd agonist part and Sema does the 1st one better. So Tirz isnt required. Dunno how effective the combo is, but will have to try someday.

Yes man this industry is infested with a lot of guys like him. He has some good stuff but on this particular topic he is dead wrong. Ego is a huge problem in our industry and comes with the territory.

On the 2nd point Novo is coming out with another drug called CagriSema which is a mix of Sema and Cagri together. I discussed it on the sema podcast that just came out. From what i've read on it though it isn't as good as retatrutide. This is why Novo stock is getting hammered while Lilly stock keeps rising. the market knows that Reta blows either of those drugs away.
I don't see a benefit of mixing Sema and Reta. Reta does all 3. Sema is only a GLP-1 agonist. might as well just use reta with tirzepatide being the #2 option.

One thing i dont understand is how some people on reddit lose over 100 pounds just injecting Tirz. Some say they did not even exercise or reduce thier eating habits. Ofcourse they would have been on 10+mg per week or probably even 15. But still no exercise and losing that much weight is insane. Especially if you visit reddit mounjaro group that transformations are amazing and very few failure cases.

I have read many posts where people say Reta's ability to control hunger is lesser than Sema or Tirz. In my case I feel 5.5mg Tirz is the minimum required to block my ADHD - low dopamine driven food cravings. My dose will only increase over time if I dont reduce it and fast a few days to bring in natural control. So 4mg Reta may not be enough based on what I have read. Many folks in such cases are mixing Sema and Reta or Tirz with Reta as the Sema and Tirz have better hunger control brakes than Reta.

there are different situations. I've talked to pharmacists researching these and they even say they have the same clients coming to them every 2 weeks to pick up their rx and don't lose any weight.
in the studies they fat people who put on moderately clean diets and were required to exercise. but the ones who combined all of the above with the GLP'1's had sensational results. the placebo group had tiny results.

so the drugs do work, but you still need to do everything else right.

from where I am sitting the absolute best results I have seen on these is the people who have existing hormonal issues (either through their own past experiences or just genetic issues) that prevent them from losing body fat even though they are already doing everything right currently. Then when they add the GLP'1's and fasting to their protocols its like BOOM magic happens. they were missing that cheat code. growing up in America or Canada on cereal, fast food, restaurant food and other garbage our parents would feed us absolutely made a high % of us as adults have major issues that aren't going to be solved by weight watchers. its time to bring in the big guns which are fasting and GLP'1's

@John Carmack they lose a lot of muscle mass and fat mass and bone mass, it's not just bodyfat loss. They're like sacks of skin and bone because they don't train.

And you're on tirzepatide now? you should start your LOG and share your journey with us.

We will be debating this on the Evo podcast we do. One point I feel it's worth pointing out is ALL the GLP etc etc type products gave out diet and lifestyle advice. This recognizes that in Type II diabetes examples it's very common to see many aspects fixed by not eating crap, eating less and getting off your asses and moving about more.

The issue where @stevesmi MIGHT be correct (and probably is), as far as I know, NO subjects were locked in as it were. They had the weekly jab and went home. How many 'fixed' their diets? Very few. How many regained etc as stevesmi said? Loads (it's in the data).

I'd also argue 'eating the same' (color me a meathead lol). On 2 of the three options you CAN'T (or it's very difficult). They literally make you less hungry AND make your body slower at gastic emptying (meaning you feel full for longer). We discussed this very point on 2 shows

those are good points. we will discuss them in depth on the podcast

the ones who rebounded were thinking they were still on the drug. it was a placebo. that is why the studies work so well

Fact of life that IIFYM is a joke to begin with, just eating random foods to fit macros is a disaster IMO @stevesmi @Mobster

I weighed in early this week 2 straight days under 160. its the lowest body weight i've had in about 20 years since my endurance traithlon days. i'm now down 20 pounds since april so a bit shy of 3 months. I am keeping my dose at just 2mgs a week of the reta and having virtually no sides. I've had just a bit of constipation as my only concern, but i'm able to go the next day no problem when that happens.

workout last night as dragging. I had a bit of a rough night 2 nights prior just with some stressful things going on as I am preparing for a move next month. but just like everything in life i will push through it. I've always been told over the years from experienced athletes that it isn't the sleep you get the night before a workout or event, its the sleep you get 2 nights prior. so if you have a bad night monday night, then its not your tuesday workout that will suffer, it will be your wednesday workout. and that is what happened with me.

today i had a nice lunch with sirloin steak on the grill, potatos in the air fryer with coconut yogurt. and I am currently prepping some asparagus in my rice cooker. I also cut up a jackfruit and pineapple which I cut up into pieces and freeze. this helps them last longer and stay fresh. both are organic, i got the jackfruit from a local farm outside of the city and i got the pineapple from the store.

I am sticking to 2 meals per day. first meal being between 1pm to 3pm area. and 2nd meal usually round 4-5pm. so eating in a 4 hour window or less daily. i have NOT put a single unhealthy thing in my body in longer then i can remember. its 100% clean diet. cheat meals are for poosies as bodymonster would say lol. i have zero desire to have them

@stevesmi amazing food and an amazing approach. :D I do want to comment on your very strong stance on "cheat", I think the issue is naming them cheat meals to begin with. You should think of them as refeeds. Refeeds can help regulate leptin, T3, cortisol, TSH and liver enzymes just to name a few, and on retatrutide that's something you really do need. You don't have to stuff your face with KFC, but a nice homemade pizza with a ton of carbs would help your body a lot.

On Tirz I feel the same. Dont feel like eating any junk. I do eat a few chips every morning because my sodium is low and I crave salt. But thats about it. My freezer is loaded with fried junk purchased 6 months ago that I dont even feel like looking at. Its like food anhedonia. I am coming off Tirz this week for that refeed/break from Tirz so body builds back sensitivity. Sorry cant log Lev ;)

food is looking good on that. that steak doesn't look like sirloin. you cooked it too much probably on the grill.

correct. I did overcook the steak. i sliced them thin and in smaller portions and it was raining off/on so i couldn't cook them the way i usually like.
