caseinate vs whey protein

Been reading about the benefits of long-chain proteins, seems like whey breaks down into sugars, so why do bodybuilders use it? Seems caseinate would be a better option.
 
you ideally want to use about 60% whey and 40% casin

fast and slow amino's to the muscles, a steady stream is key. you really want that, why do you think BBer's eat 6-8 small meals a day...

N2BM GEAR is also a great amino, take 3-5 pills with each meal you eat. Greek yogurt is good for slow protein too.
 
I like to use blends so you have different absorption times. . Keep that metabolism running as much as poss
 
different purposes..whey is better post and preworkout because it faster hitting. casien will be in effect for longer periods, so it will keep you in a state for muscle growth for longer periods of time

They make a very nice mix and maybe people prefer a blend to get the best of both worlds.
 
Bioavailability of casein is much lower than whey, so I don't see the benefit in it. Contrary to popular belief, your body will use the aminos from whey for hours. Casein is unnecessary
 
Casein protein raises protein synthesis higher than whey on record last I read.

Not that BB.com is infallible lol far from it, but it does support what I read in an actually clinical study I just can't find the original study. But again the difference is Small I'm sure.

Whey post workout, casein any other time for me If I can afford it. It is a bit more costly.
 
RickRock, what is your height weight bf? Your a built guy, I mean god bless the monsters, but im not wanting to get too much bigger&built than I am now, and your physique from your avatar looks legit..off topic I know, I dont have enough posts to pm :P lol
 
If you're body is In a catabolic state it'll turn any protein in te blood stream into sugar through gluconogenesis it's just that whey will be broken down faster if I'm not mistaken.

I take Whey protein early in the day and before training, until I switch to Caseinate + Omega fats before bed or close to bed time.
 
Sanck machine is correct: cottage cheese. Most caseins out there are garbage anyway. The good old days of real Micellar Casein (met-rx when it came in 2 tubs) are gone. Greed and skimping has made it hard to find a truely good casein protein. If you do find a good one it will be so thick and taste like utter shit you probrably won't want to drink it anyhow. Eggs everybody !!!!!!!! 100% bioavailibilty.
