Doctor prescribed me synthroid a while back...my thyroid isn't really that bad...just right at the lower end..so he prescribed me synthroid. My question is...is synthroid any kind of potent..??? How is it compared to T3 or T4..???? will it help cut when i start trimming down..???

Just curious...thought i would ask. THis is a great place for information.

Yes...I was on the lower end...can't remember the exact number..but my dr said I made the cutoff point and needed the medicine.

Do they work for burning fat..???

Yeah it helps burn fat but imo if your thyroid is alright but at the lower levels I wouldn't take it. Dangerous shit. I'd see a naturopath and try something less invasive. Last thing you want to do is burn the thyroid out. Proper diet and training is all you need. Might just take longer cause the levels are lower is all

you go on thyroid meds you go on for life

go kick your doctor in the balls and stop taking that crap ASAP

start drinking kale shakes every morning and fix your diet and your thyroid will improve .. you are just lacking minerals in your diet

As someone who was also prescribed synthroid years ago, I can tell you that you should not up the dose and just listen to your doctor's advice. Most likely he/she put you on a low dose, and wants to see where that brings your levels. Besides, if you up the dose hoping to get fat burning effects you will run out before it's time to refill your script and your doctor will of course know that something is up. The sides aren't worth it anyway, take it if you truly need it like I do (my thyroid was physically damaged) and just clean up your diet if you want to lose fat.

Huh? For life? Why is that now?

Yeah the thyroid is very resilient. You could be on thyroid meds for years and still recover. However, if you don't have a thyroid issue you shouldn't be put on them by a doc anyways. Only time a doc should do this is if the person really has a thyroid problem and in that case it would be a lifelong thing like TRT is.

Yes sir - this is spot on. The thyroid comes back almost always. There is a lot is science behind it and proven studies.

It is surprising a doc would prescribe that with out being outside the 'normal range'. They usually stick to these numbers to the tee.

Well...this didn't go how I thought lol..

I haven't been taking it...looks like I won't.

the scary thing is that there's so much misinformation about things like this... insinuations are made that these should be used to burn fat etc... can they burn fat is one thing but are they safe or used in that manner is an entirely different one and it tends to carry an entirely different answer... there are things that are specifically used for that purpose and others that can be extremely dangerous if not used for what they are intended... always remember that when you talk about the thyroid, its SERIOUS... it's not "kind of" serious, its a big deal man... i won't mess with anything that can cause any irregularities, have possible sides in that area, etc... if you want to burn fat then there are a million safer ways...

synthroid is an artifical copy of t4.its basically the same thing. t4 converts to t3.
