Approved Log Mad-Scientist 2024 recomposition testosterone cycle log

I’m Mad-Scientist,

A long-time steroid forum member since 20 years old and a former Steroidology moderator. The goal of this cycle log is to see how my body responds to steroids after not doing any sort of true steroid cycle for a long time. I would one day like to compete in classic physique but I will have a lot of work to do before that is possible.


After a year of working 65 hours a week and struggling to maintain consistent workouts due to work, injuries, and totaling my car, I’m starting a new cycle for the first time in 11 years and looking to the community for motivation and feedback.



I will say in 2023 l I did get in the best overall shape of my life probably but that was stopped in its tracks by a shoulder injury that eventually subsided after 8 months.



I am very paranoid about acne. That is why I am ramping up dosages slowly.



**Basic Info**



- **Age:** 35

- **Height:** 5'11"

- **Weight:** 200 lbs

- **Body Fat:** 15%

- **Training:** 20+ years



**Cycle Details**



Duration: 4-6 months Re-comp phase



Compounds:

-Test E or Test C starting with 150mg -200mg



- I could use Primo also but feel I should focus on my response to testosterone, and use primo in a dedicated cut come next summer.



Will consider increasing the dosage in 50 mg increments every six weeks or when gains slow down. To try to maximize gains before increasing doses and to minimize side effects by slowly increasing blood levels.



Support



- **Aromatase Inhibitor:** 0.20 Arimidex EOD



Hcg: 250 iu x2 a week or I could start at 125 iu 2x a week

Steroid cycle history



18-21: years old probably about 5 pro hormone cycles, which, of course I proceeded to lose most of all gains from afterwards



22 years old:



750mg TEST E for 3 months ending with random pro hormone and I didn’t have absolutely horrible acne all things considered.. because I was literately not using an AI and just using nolvadex.



24 years old:



4 months 850 mg test E/ turnabol kick start/ 600mg npp



Transitioning into:



2 months 850mg Test/ 600 Masteron



11 years ago, I went from 205 to 235 lbs in 4 months at 15% body fat using 850 mg of testosterone, 600mg masteron and it ended badly once I added in masteron with full blown cystic acne that took 3 years to resolve. Yes I know I admit it dumb choice.

Here’s some pictures of me from August of last year on a 2000 cal 200 g protein diet not keeping track of any other macros doing an hour of cardio four times to five times a week and lifting weights 4 to 5 times a week. Did this diet from April 2023 to October 2023 and started to waste away from getting to thin, never got the six pack I wanted. But I didn’t use any performance enhancing drugs unless you count Adderall, which I am prescribed at 25 mg a day.

I am starting my cycle in one to two weeks just trying to basically relax, recover, and prime my body to be ready and not burned out from work. I am on vacation right now.


I will post more recent pictures of myself, In my opinion I can look the same as I did in those pictures in 1-2 months of solid diet and workout. Or quicker than the gear could hit my system noticeably probably.

Diet, please share actual meals foods and when you eat it, I see you gave rough and you don't keep track of macros but if you can lets start at least working on macros into the cycle prep, since you'll need real high protein on this recomp
Training, please share actual training as you go like reps sets weights, if you can more details would help us understand how strong you getting

OK, this took me an incredibly long amount of time. I tried to get all the weights accurate, but I have many on the lower side, and also tend to focus more on perfect technique, and squeezing the muscles at the end of every rep.

I go to failure on every set after my second set on any exercise listed. Also if it’s something like concentration curls I tend to usually keep pyramiding down in weights and save those for the end of my workouts.

I don’t think I have a perfect workout routine by any means, but this is give or take what I’ve been doing for the last 10 years I would say. If I focus on strength for a month, usually all my numbers will go up by 10% at the least but I haven’t ever kept with a strength training routine and when I do it’s usually I just drop the reps to the five or six mark.

While the contraction etc is good the reality is you're not as big etc as you wanna be. Up the weights
You have a good point I’ll up the weights and focus on increasing strength and size. I’ll have more fun and focus on trying to push my limits more with the weight 😎.
 
@Mad-Scientist good update I like your protein intake but carbs can do down by about 20-30 grams if you can to level out a more balance, with the 20-30 grams going to protein

I take fish oil, cook with lots of olive oil, and tend to eat a lot of meat I think those are my main sources of fats. I need to pay closer attention to fat sources.

@Mad-Scientist check closer your omega 3:6 ratio, try to have a higher omega 3 much better for arteries and your recomp stack

**Weight:** 196 lbs (Down 4 lbs, starting to look leaner)

I’m restructuring my life to better achieve my goals. While my current job has held me back, with long 13-hour days, I’ve decided to quit, and my last day is Wednesday. The goal is to find a job that allows more free time to focus on training and making real progress.

I will soon have much better updates and more time, I’ve tried to write stuff down a few times for this log but have just been constantly on the go because of work.

**Progress:**
- Haven’t made major physical gains yet, aside from getting leaner due to work demands. However, with the change in jobs, I expect bigger gains to come.

**Plan for the Future:**
- I’m pursuing certifications: NASM CPT, CES, and CNC over the next 6 months, and may later look into NSCA requiring a bachelor’s degree.

**Cycle Planning:**
- I had to cancel a blood test due to poor sleep but will reschedule. I want to see my natural testosterone levels before starting the cycle, though I’m tempted to begin now.
- Decided to go with a steady 200mg-250mg testosterone dosage for 3-6 months to maintain stable hormone levels, rather than gradually increasing from 150mg.

OK, I got my blood test back. My first injection will be Monday. I plan on doing sub Q injections of 250 mg of testosterone. split into two dosages.

Honest explanation on my blood work. For the past six months basically been eating pretty bad overall mostly just eating whatever I wanted to, and binge drinking excessively on weekends. I am back on a diet now and decided to cut out drinking all together for the next 6 months and to keep it to a minimum after that.

The nine months before that, though I didn’t drink or smoke weed and had a perfect diet so this isn’t really normal for me I was just stressed out working too much and to sum it up I just slowly kept pushing the boundaries farther and farther.

I believe I can get everything back into range pretty quickly, and the 250 mg of testosterone wouldn’t have too big of an effect health wise.


My total cholesterol: 213 is not great, but considering that my HDL is 62 it’s not horrific. The lack of cardio, heavy drinking, and horrible diet probably are the main cause of this.

My bilirubin total: 1.3 is high, but that is to be expected, after partying like a rockstar for the last six months every weekend.

Ast: 20 I thought ast/alt would be higher considering bilirubin total is 1.3

Alt: 16

My estradiol level: 36 is high and I am guessing that that is due to compromised liver function, and alcohol.

Total testosterone: 520 is not too bad, I think it should’ve been closer to 600 though because the test was taken at 10:30 AM and I wake up at 6:30 AM

Free testosterone: 79.3

First the E2 estrogen is a lack of Ais and yes also drinking.
We need to get you back on self TRT 250mgs testosterone is a start lets do it.

you should definitely go donate a pint of blood
that will help thin out your blood
 
I recommend giving red cell or plasma
that goes a long way toward helping these numbers
 
cholesterol is also about diet and stress
make sure you're dialing in that diet and no more alcohol
 
the partying really takes a beating on your health
but I'm glad you're acknowledging it and being honest
 
much respect for being open about your past activities

January 2025 300 test

January 2025 - February 2025 400 test/400 primo stopped cycle because of AC joint injury

April 2025 - June 2025 200 Test / 600mg primo/3iu hgh: This felt like a waste at the time but it got me lean enough to properly grow after this cut and push test higher.

July 2025 - September 2025: 600 test 300 primo 3iu-4iu hgh attempted to push up higher but would get gyno, this is when I realized high test was important

Dec 2025 Febuary 2026:

This is my most recent cycle and has been hell. Test 750/ deca 500/primo 500/ d bol 25/ hgh 6iu /caber/ aromasin 1mg everyday other day.

Resulted in hot sweats all night and gyno by day 15 had to stop everything but kept primo at 500 and started aromasin 1mg everyday then nolvadex at 80mg for 4 days then down to 40mg for a week to reverse gyno.

I added my 750 test back in then to go nuclear I decided no gyno shall survive and without ever trying EQ front loaded 1 gram then started 500mgs a week. Lol the anxiety was immediately unbearable no amount of anything could help so I stopped that after a month.

Then on February 2026 I decided TEST IS BEST… so I upped my testosterone to 1250mgs a week with HGH at 5ius.

Now I am making great progress and feel amazing.

So far this is what has got me to where I am now and I realize in the future I need to do everything better and more calculated.

Biggest game changers to me have been using high testosterone 750mgs at the least, using HGH at 4ius at the least, and pushing calories extremely high when lean to explode into a bulk phase. Primo is amazing but for size gains it just takes up space in a syringe, I didn’t particularly like EQ because of the mental side effects but it did give me more size and fullness versus Primo. Primo made me look like a fitness model with shrink wrapped skin though and I would drop water.

End results after 1 year and two shitty cruises where I lost all muscle due to inconsistent eating and training 195 to 218

Crestor dramatically cleaned up my cholesterol, and I am on Atenelol for BP and enalapril for the the HCT lowering effects, inositol Ip6, berberine, cialis, NAC, Tudca, krill oil, grapefruit juice, baby asprin and occasionally 2-3 months of methylene blue at 25mgs a day

Blood work is not bad but I over donated blood and have low Ferritin.

I did a 100mg cruise to 150mg cruise which I slightly regret going that low. I also wasn’t eating enough calories, protein or consistently training like I should so I lost lots of gains.

This time around I would cruise at 250mgs with 3-4 Iu’s of HGH and hit all my macros and train consistently.

January 2025 - February 2025 400 test/400 primo stopped cycle because of AC joint injury

April 2025 - June 2025 200 Test / 600mg primo/3iu hgh: This felt like a waste at the time but it got me lean enough to properly grow after this cut and push test higher.

July 2025 - September 2025: 600 test 300 primo 3iu-4iu hgh attempted to push up higher but would get gyno, this is when I realized high test was important

Dec 2025 Febuary 2026:

This is my most recent cycle and has been hell. Test 750/ deca 500/primo 500/ d bol 25/ hgh 6iu /caber/ aromasin 1mg everyday other day.

Resulted in hot sweats all night and gyno by day 15 had to stop everything but kept primo at 500 and started aromasin 1mg everyday then nolvadex at 80mg for 4 days then down to 40mg for a week to reverse gyno.

I added my 750 test back in then to go nuclear I decided no gyno shall survive and without ever trying EQ front loaded 1 gram then started 500mgs a week. Lol the anxiety was immediately unbearable no amount of anything could help so I stopped that after a month.

Then on February 2026 I decided TEST IS BEST… so I upped my testosterone to 1250mgs a week with HGH at 5ius.

Now I am making great progress and feel amazing.

So far this is what has got me to where I am now and I realize in the future I need to do everything better and more calculated.

Biggest game changers to me have been using high testosterone 750mgs at the least, using HGH at 4ius at the least, and pushing calories extremely high when lean to explode into a bulk phase. Primo is amazing but for size gains it just takes up space in a syringe, I didn’t particularly like EQ because of the mental side effects but it did give me more size and fullness versus Primo. Primo made me look like a fitness model with shrink wrapped skin though and I would drop water.

End results after 1 year and two shitty cruises where I lost all muscle due to inconsistent eating and training 195 to 218
You are truly blessed, man, to be able to experiment like this and figure out what works for you and what doesn't. @Mad-Scientist I hear you on the anxiety as well man. It could be from too much androgens and too much estrogen. Who knows?

@Mad-Scientist you can definitely go that route but I would cruise on a little bit less of each because you don't want to end up building a lot of insulin resistance. You don't want to have a blood clot from too much testosterone for too long.
 
Crestor dramatically cleaned up my cholesterol, and I am on Atenelol for BP and enalapril for the the HCT lowering effects, inositol Ip6, berberine, cialis, NAC, Tudca, krill oil, grapefruit juice, baby asprin and occasionally 2-3 months of methylene blue at 25mgs a day

Blood work is not bad but I over donated blood and have low Ferritin.

I'm no cardiologist at all so take it with a grain of salt. If you take cholesterol medication to clean up your cholesterol, in a lot of cases you're doing more harm than good because that's what cholesterol medication does: it cleans up cholesterol but it doesn't fix the root issue if that makes sense. @Mad-Scientist

I thought to myself I should look at the cholesterol numbers with a bit of bias because my cholesterol numbers are like 25% better than normal and I am on a pretty heavy blast to a degree.

Basically I figure it helps but sometimes I wonder if some of these medications are just really good at changing blood work results and that their is more to it than what I see. So I guess what I’m saying is I’ll try to use the extra head room with cholesterol for more healthy bodybuilding food and still focus on living a healthy bodybuilding lifestyle not just add Tren in because blood work looks okay…. Which I thought about because I haven’t tried it 👀😂

Yes it's sort of what you're saying. At the end of the day it's fool's gold because if you're still causing damage in your body and the medication is masking it then are you really healthier or not?

Thank you man. It felt like I was stuck unable to grow until I bumped up the testosterone over 750mg. I think for future bulks I will stick to high testosterone and maybe a little bit of primo or Deca if my body can handle the deca.

I think the new age approach held me back until I said fuck it and did high testosterone again.

So far HGH and testosterone are by far the strongest compounds I have used, with Deca being 3rd. The HGH allowed me to grow without getting fat where if I had done this same bulk at 24 instead of 36 with no HGH I would have not had visible abs.
 
Estrodiol came back at 53 2 weeks after upping testosterone from 750mg to 1250mg. I would imagine that means my estrodiol will cap out around 70 when the testosterone fully builds up.

I switched HGH to fasted morning injections and raised the dosage to 7ius from 5ius temporarily as an experiment and am noticing a tighter mid section and more fat burning. I seem to be sensitive to GH I got a full noticeable body pump first time trying 2ius.

I am starting to get a little bit of random acne like 3-5 bumps, erection quality has went down since about a week ago, and water retention has been rising and falling throughout the week. I’m considering going down to 1gram of testosterone from the 1250mg, and splitting my shots into 3 shots a week instead of 2 shots a week.

I could add like 200mg-400mg primo but then I will have to deal with more injection volume which I hate.

I can drop the dosage of test, or raise my aromasin higher than 10mg every other day. What do you guys recommend?

P.S. This is random but I feel like I am at that point where in a bulk cycle or two from now it would be smarter to add in insulin than push anabolics to much harder or past 1500mgs.

I noticed you said you lost a lot of your gains from two shitty cruise cycles. Do you think you'd be better off getting diet dialled in rather than focusing on pounding huge gear doses? Seems like you weren't off for long between cycles either.

What's going on with your thyroid there mate?

Your bloods are concerning bro but your lipids are solid. I think your thyroid is angry at you. As for e2 if you don't wanna drop the Test dose I'd run aromasin ED asap and don't rely on any AAS for e2 control at the moment.

There's a lot to unpack both with your bloods and with your updates so it would be best for you to start a new log if you don't mind; repost your updates since Monday 23Feb2026 as a new log intro including your bloods and we'll get to work.

I decided I’m probably going to lower my testosterone dose to 1g split into 3 shots per week instead of the 2x a week and see if that helps. I may add some DIM in also. I could up the aromasin I’m not sure if thats a good idea because it’s hard for me to dial in. My aromasin schedule right now is 10mg eod.

My testosterone just came back at 8,164 and free testosterone at 3,166 lol
 
It is up to you, lowering e2 would work, adding aromasin would also work to lower, if your on 10mg eod at the moment maybe 15?

Primo would work and be smooth, but finding the right ratio would be a bit painful
15mg of aromasin could work pretty good I think my estrogen is still climbing so I don’t think it would be over shooting

My issue with losing gains on my cruises were more of an issue with me mentally being overwhelmed by life and pushing steroids to hard at the same time then coming off and basically completely stopping the bodybuilding lifestyle while on my cruises and drinking a lot and eating like 80g of protein a day. At the time I told myself I was doing the Kevin Levrone method 😂. I am not partying anymore and have a GF to keep me in line now though, plus I realize I won’t achieve my goals if I do that again. I will say you’re right and I should have focused on diet more before starting this cycle because diet is what seemed to move me forward the most.


I have no idea whats going on with my thyroid. ChatGPT said it was expected on bigger cycles for thyroid to be affected. I thought maybe you guys would have a better Idea. I can’t stay awake through the day though it is pretty bad I fall asleep at like 12pm a few hours after breakfast it’s literally like I start nodding off. No amount of caffeine or stimulants can stop the crash around 12pm I get.
