Liver enzymes

Ok so Ive been working out heavy for around 4 years now and have made huge gains. I eat plenty of meals a day ( 6 or 7) and as far as supplements I only take whey protein and creatine. I only take 50 grams of whey protein a day which is very little compared to the amount of protein I get from food. I only take 1 teaspoon (about 5 grams) of creatine and only after I work out 4 days a week. Recently I got a physical and the blood work came back and showed that I had increased liver enzymes. The doctor said that it is probably from the creatine. She wants me to stop taking it for a month and come back for more blood work. So I guess my question is, does creatine cause an increase in liver enzymes? Also, should I expect any adverse effects of stopping creatine abruptly?

tl;dr I have increased liver enzymes, is creatine the cause?

Creatine should not affect your liver enzymes, and stopping creatine won't have adverse effects. Are you on any medications, or do you use otc pain medications? Also have you run any cycle especially with orals, or are.you on trt?

Creatine is removed via your renal system so it will no adverse impact on your liver enzymes. Any methylated supplement, acetominophin and/or heavy alcohol consumption will. In addition there's a condition called fatty liver disease that is genetic and will unfortunately cause cirrhosis over time. I have a fatty liver and so does every Male on my fathers side of the family.

doctors are not trained or knowledgeable on weight lifters or athletes unless you are seeing a top level sports doctor who works for a college program or the pros (we don't have access to that as gym rats unless you have a trust fund)

so take nothing your doctor says as any truth

as far as your blood work the best i can offer you is a 1 on 1 consultation with me to go over it because it sounds like this doctor is greatly confused or stupid or both. I can rest assure you that taking creatine has no effect on your bloodwork in any way. she likely is refering to creatinine which is a kidney number. and if she is seriously thinking that creatine effects liver than she should be fired on the spot for incompetence. i can talk to you 1 on 1 and go over it and explain things to you in plain English. hit me up man.

I know a dude that was taking all kind of shit, so he got a fatty liver.
Get your supplement usage to minimum and it should normalize.

My mums friends son took creatine for years non stop and went to hospital and somthing along the lines of being creatine... But the details are faint and I think he had other problems too.

Fatty liver has two caused. Alcoholic and genetic. Along with the alcoholic cause would also be anything like methylated supplements designed to survive first pass metabolism and abuse of other compounds that are toxic to the liver like tylenol. Unfortunately for me my fatty liver is caused entirely by genetics. Every male on my fathers side of the family has a fatty liver and most of them don't even drink at all. We all gotta die sometime. If I live long enough to die of cirrhosis of the liver due to my genetic predisposition then I will most likely pass in my seventies or early eighties. That's good enough for me.

Yeah man, I hear so many stories that people who use protein powder, creatine powder and every type of powder, have liver issues.
That's not good and that's definitely why you should be taking breaks with them
