How much melatonin should I take before bed? I just got a bottle that says 5mgs per tablet with some GABA and stuff. Is 10mgs too much or is this perfect dose? I haven't use melatonin before so this is new to me. Problem sleeping lately so have to do something drastic! fast!

bro 10mgs is way too much...you're a first time user, hit about 1-2mgs first...

yes, 10 is far too much bro and completely unnecessary... you never want to overdo it like that... its irresponsible and detrimental man...

If you need some to help you sleep, always start at a low dose and adjust from there. You always want to use the lowest effective dose possible

I used to take 1-2mg and it was plenty. You will notice a difference... Or you should.

If I were you I'd take those tablets and split them down the middle. They already have 5mg melatonin plus extra gaba and other substances that may completely put you out for 11 hours and leave you waking up tired as hell and ready for more sleep. Cutting the pills in half would probably give you a more effective dose. If you still can't sleep then id move up to a full tablet.

I'm so glad I don't have sleeping issues. I seen my pop's struggle big time in this area

I take it that the 10mg is both gaba and melatonin with the 5mg being the melatonin portion.

First off, melatonin is not a "sleeping pill" in as much as it does not put you to sleep. It resets your body clock. That's why airline pilots take it and it's prescribed for older people whose bodies do not produce enough so they end up not going to sleep and/or waking too early, then nap in the middle of the afternoon because they have not had enough quality sleep. An endless vicious cycle.

Maybe put the jar aside for now and go get some 2.5mg tabs that dissolve under the tongue. Much more effective than swallowing them.

Lots of other factors can cause sleep issues. Going to bed without following a set procedure can cause sleep problems, so make a habit of brushing your teeth, showering then going to bed at a set time. Aim for 8-9 hours sleep, counting back from the time you have to get up.

Allow a bit of extra time to read for a bit, from a book, not your phone or computer. In fact, turn your phone off or put it on flight mode. Make the bedroom pitch dark and keep it cool to cold. Avoid coffee and other caffeine for at least 6 hours prior to sleep.

An orgasm is a great sleep inducer for men (not so much for women) so use that to your advantage.

If you are young (under 40) you are better off sorting out what's causing the problem instead of looking for meds. And for fucks sake, do not take sleeping pills. That's a road leading one way and it's not pretty.

10 is to high.. take 3 mg

Everytime I take melatonin it puts me to sleep. Its also sold in many preparations and formulas as a sleeping pill or a sleep aid.

Yes, it's kind of like GNC selling ZMA as a "muscle builder". It doesn't actually build muscle, but it helps you so sleep which is when you build muscle as the body repairs itself. Same with melatonin. It's sold as a "sleep aid" but not because it puts you to sleep. It resets the body clock so that you sleep when you should.

The whole sleep issue is a very complicated situation, being a field of study that includes Polysomnography. Often insomnia is related to stress which can be countered with all sorts of remedies including placebos. If you are physically tired then have your stress removed you can get rid of insomnia. Herbal remedies, such as teas, can help as well, even if it is a placebo effect. Many people find a combination of herbal teas, stress relief through diverting your thoughts (i.e. reading a book), following a "going to bed" protocol and a good vigorous fuck with your lady does the job. Toss on top of that some ZMA and melatonin and you are good to go.

I used to take 10mg tabs.. Didn't do much for me. This is coming from
An ex alcoholic and someone who's abused many things.. 3mg is all you need.

If you build a tolerance or if you just don't respond well doses of over 20mg a night have been used by some but doing so obviously doesn't come without consequences although it I people have done this and lived.

Start with 3mg, i have taken 6mg before and slept for 12 hours and woke up confused lol. Needless to say i was rested

A mate of mine, pro bb get melatonin sublingual spray. Man take too much and you have CRAZY dreams. This stuff orc though man, you need a compounding pharmacy though and a willing doc......

careful taking melatonin to long, it will make your body reliant on it and harder to sleep in the future if you abuse it. once or twice a week is fine tho try not to be regualr
