Sup bros!! As always I have a question for you guys... :)

Looking for some legitimate sleep aids meaning ones that have worked for you all who have tried them.. Or you all that have an understanding of the ingredients that are used...

It's been killing me ever since I've been back in the gym i find my self just laying in bed till the wee hours of the night or morning..

What my gym schedule looks like...

Before the gym 5g of creatine and 3g of BCAAs

8 -8:15 pm hit the gym 9:30 -9-45 leave the gym (I workout with 2 other people my little brother and his friend witch drags the time out ;) also depends witch chick is working the desk) .

After the gym I make a shake consisting of 25g of whey protein 5.5g of BCAAs 5g of creatine and 4g of glutamine... At 11pm I try to hit the hay lol and as of writing this post it is 12:48pm :(

Lol I've tried a few tricks here and there from drinking warm milk with my shakes even heating up the lemon water I drink before bed... Showering in different water temps not showering and so on leaving the tv on or turning it off... Yeah I've heard of melatonin it's the main ingredient of the Dymatize Nutrition sleep aid... And I'm a Dymatize Fanatic I stay within the product line aside from trying pre workouts.. So I think I'll give there sleep aid a shot..

As always thank you for the swift responses guys!

"Somnapure" has all the best ingredients ! Lovin it ! Voted best natural sleep aid 2014.

working out too late is your problem

I'm not going to get specific and list everything wrong with doing that but this seems to be a trend in the gym and its growing the same way insomnia is..

I am leaving the gym at around 7 after my yoga class and ready to fall asleep from an hour of weights and an hour of yoga.. and I see meatheads in there hooting and hollering throwing weights around.. you are leaving the gym at 10pm.. that's when you should be in bed and you spend the past hour exercising instead of preparing for bed and unwinding. so what did you expect to happen? sleep is crucial and I'm sorry but your immune system and results are going to suffer mightily until you fix this schedule

now I will assume you get off work late is why.. so all you have to do to fix this is workout BEFORE work. problem solved

I always try natural and exhaust my options before I take the medicine route

this is spot on

when you use medicine to help you sleep you will never sleep deep. sleep aids are the devil.

nobody needs that crap if they fix the underlying problem of why they aren't getting sleep.

brother none of those suggestions I would of recommended to you

there shouldn't be a tv in your bedroom anyway.. bedroom is for sleep, not watching tv or even reading

ZMA or Melatonin works for me. But you and also try the natural way of raising your melatonin = settling down and shutting off the lights in your room around 8-9pm.

Working out late does that to me. Are you taking a preworkout mix? That will keep you up as many of them have caffeine. Turn off the electronics and try an herbal tea like chamomile or valerian root.

yep in bed by 10:30 and sleep till 6:30 or 7 is ideal

the whole working out late thing is not the way we evolved as I mentioned on the first page.

and then caffeine should be taken BEFORE 2pm only... you are 100% right and I see this sort of thing a lot where guys take them late in the day and workout. your body is going to want to stay awake all night if you do that

I have to agree with stevesmi. I understand the pain of scheduling sleep and gym time being that my work has rotating shift hours. I used melatonin after hearing it was a natural way to induce sleep, and my body said f-you. Every time I tried it, I woke up feeling like complete shiot. It's really best if you can find a way to get to the gym earlier. And if you happen to through in some HIIT, your body will be begging to sleep come night time.

And you grow when you rest my friend. Follow Steve's advice. He is 100 percent correct.

Oh yeah I know growth is important that's why I finally decided to ask about a sleep aid. And I would go earlier but we have 1 gym in town and unless you go at 5 am or 8pm you may as well be standing in a cafeteria line....

It's even worse with the New Years resolution crowd still lingering around lol!! People sit and talk and stay on the same machine or bench for hours lol it's literally this if you want attention.

Yeah I will try some HIIT because currently I don't have a job still looking... Jobs here are sarce unless you go 2 county's over and even then they are pulling out Catapillar witch is going to leave lots of people jobless.... So all I do Is loafer around the house and do an elliptical to try to burn off dragnet energy during the day.

I'm on tren right now so I have no choice but to take Seriquil or I am up all fucking night long. But yes melatonin and also an over-the-counter sleep aid called equate works well too.

I've only been on cycle now for about a week, Before I started the cycle it was the first break I taken from cruising in years. I only lasted two months though and I was like fuck it I'm getting back on haha. But regardless on cycle and off cycle I have a terrible time sleeping melatonin and equates work well off cycle but when I'm blasting I usually can only get 6 hours of sleep no matter what I take.

ZMA is where it's at. If you're working out hard, you're probably losing a good amount of zinc and magnesium. It has definitely helped my recovery. I just have to make a new batch of it and cap 'em up.

Agreed about the working out late part. I workout early in the morning at 6AM before work. I NEVER have problem sleeping and get very good quality sleep. Doesn't matter if I'm on Tren or anything else. I sleep like a baby until it's time to get up the next day. Try moving your workout time, and I'm sure you will see just how effective that is

does anyone find that MElatonin helps? I have struggled with both falling asleep and staying asleep for years. What dose do you use?

Yes, it has helped me, BUT

It should only be used on the rare occasion, if at all. Melatonin is a hormone; it is the hormone that regulates our circadian rhythym/sleep cycle. It's just like with test, our body regulates hormones via a negative-feedback loop. If you're popping melatonin to help you sleep every night and you stop, you're going to have a rough time getting deep sleep because your body won't be producing any.

The only real time it's most useful is when you have to change your body's circadian rhythm, like when you're changing time zones or switching from an overnight shift to a day shift.

Fun fact: Melatonin is illegal to purchase in Australia. But hey, what isn't?

ok thanks. Probably not what I need then as I would need to take it too often

ANother thing I haven't seen mentioned- do NOT use your bed for anything but sleepin or fuckin. No snacking, watching TV... it needs to be the place where you sleep. If you lay down and aren't asleep within 20 minutes get up and read a book or watch a little TV (something mindless that won't get you interested) until you feel sleepy again, then head back to bed.

Getting in a good pre bed ritual helps a lot too, may sound kinda gay but there is no price on sleep..

I'm like you out of work and just don't know what to do with myself. I miss the work routine so much it was like a good habit, sleep go to qym pre work, home make dinner and watch a bit of tv and on the computer then easy off to bed was about 10:30pm.

Now all my routine has gone I still go to the gym early before the crowd get there but there now just seems to be to many hours in the day left to just worry and fret about possibly never getting employed again.

Sorry don't I hope I haven't made you feel worse I'm just trying to be sympathetic your situation as it seems to resemble my own.

Over the counter; Alteril, melatonin 5 to 10 mg. Prescription; Ambien for short-term use, trazodone for long-term.

I'm with Eatliftsleeprepeat on this.
ZMA and/or Melatonin work.
But I Agree with Stevesmi that your Workout Schedule is Too Late at Night.
Many People just can't Fall Asleep after a Workout................................................... JP
P.S.
You could Always try a "Ballpeen Hammer" ~ Works 1st Time Every Time (LOL).

Not to sound like a damn hippie, but...personally I try to meditate before bed. For me, it works great. A quick google search will return a ton of meditation sites, guided and non-guided meditations, and most of them are completely free. Find what works for you and stick with it, develop a routine and getting to sleep will be much easier.

The only thing I'd advise against is any type of benzo. They work great (if you NEED them), but if you use them consistently you can become dependent on them to get the sleep, and if you get to that point trying to get off the benzo is a complete bitch.

It always sucked on days we worked late, I would stay up half the night then back up at 6am. I started taking melatonin and putting on a movie Iv seen a million times out like a light.

I'm a big fan of GH Blast, GABA, melatonin, 5-htp, ZMA, pain killers (if you ache like a mofo like I do) and carbs. Mmm, carbs - always handy to have a good excuse to eat some carbs late at night :)

I’m a light sleeper, and if the stress level is high I’ll sit up all night. Aleve PM has been a HUGE help. My wife bought some one day just to try out, and it’s made a major difference. This is an over the counter product. The primary benefit for me personally is that it keeps me asleep. Once I’m out, I go into a deep REM sleep and stay down for at least 6-8 hours. I wake up refreashed and do not feel drugged. Give it a shot!

Oh it's fine I feel for your situation to.. Lol I would go early except from 5am to 8 it's packed weekdays.. Weekends though freaking ghost town except the people who go at 8 when I do.. Looked into another gym closest one is a new golds gym on 365 boarder line 985/I 85 right around 27 minutes away there was one about 15 minutes away but my best guess is it being a mom and pop one it died out to the golds I mentioned opening on the interstate 10 or so minutes from it...

A couple Calcium-Magnesium capsules ~half hour before bed does wonders to help you sleep. Valerian root also, but I find it makes me really groggy in the morning.

Of course if the situation was dire .5mg of Xanax or an Ambien will do the trick, but as you stated who wants to resort to pharms if you don't have to.
