You need to compete

Many need to compete to have a sponsor why would someone sponsor a guy just to look good naked you need to be competitive at least a couple of times to get credit and promote yourself you’ll also make friends in the competing circle that can further your contacts and help you promote your sponsorship by the way you look people will want to mimic your results so you can see how it helps here by telling them what you do they will do the same thing

Even with Instagram if you just post photo videos but haven’t competed you still are a nobody until you stand on stage next to other guys then this provides a better platform to work from

Competing is not cheap it doesn’t land you money it doesn’t help your life in making money but it can help your sponsor and your circle of connections through making more friends per say and the word goes around he uses this lab let me buy and use that stuff you see then in this way you are promoting from competing and everyone wants to use what the biggest freak is using

this is also in gyms being a freak will certainly help here

But yes genetics is everything to be top Olympia that 99 are not but you can still compete have fun and understand that yes you aren’t going to be paid or contacted by clothing supplement company’s unless you win a huge show and have built a huge platform on social media

But forget the money and enjoy becoming a freak do this because you love it

happens all the time. if you have a huge social media following that is all you need to pick up a sponsorship these days. people buy followers, post up meme's, say outlandish things to draw in more people, insult people and start fake wars with other influencers, and then use that to monetize things. rinse and repeat.

they could not care less aobut fitness or bodybuilding, they just want attention and money.

mobster and I talk about that on our podcast all the time. none of those people are of any interest to us, and i'm not going to buy a tank top or buy some shit supplement from them, but when you got 1M followers all it takes is a few suckers and you can make easy money

I agree, I want to see more guys compete in bodybuilding, physique and overall fitness shows. If you can't do full classic bodybuilding, there is physique too and many smaller competitions in this industry.

Competing is a MUST in this industry and every guy on the forums should try it, even Joe at the office should do it. It's fun and exciting and it's a sport that supports our lifestyle.

If you train all the time, you might as well compete and be rewarded

bro who being sponsored who not real bodybuilder out there? give examples
My childhood best friend growing up has never competed a day in his life but has fantastic genetics and responds very well to gear. He's got a few supplement sponsors, clothing sponsors, he's done some real big modeling gigs with some big names, and is now considered an internet celebrity and has an only fans page that he makes a fortune off from the gay community. Never once stepped on stage.

thats an example of what i posted above. marketing genius. if he has 1000 followers @ $10 a month that is $10000 just for wacking off in front of a webcam and posting it 5 minutes a day and then doing whatever you want rest of the day. not a bad gig i guess

I completely disagree. The social media guys who have never competed are often pulling in more coin and sponsors than competitors. Maybe you are speaking to only fitness related sponsors. The youtube/IG dudes will get sponsors from a variety of companies, not just fitness.

It’s just something that has never interested me but I can see why some people like it.

I've been down that road. Im glad I had the experience aa a competitor but competing is not for everyone. Its expensive and requires a lot for little to no reward. It stresses your family and social relationships. For some people its worth the price. For some of us we prioritize our lives differently. I compete every day, with myself and I balance it without letting my lifestyle ever get in the way of life or experiences with my family and those im close to. I support anyone's decision to pursue what makes them happy, but behind the scenes hard-core competitors battle stress and depression more than the average person just living life every day. In my opinion any extreme is bad. You can apply that to anything. Balance and moderation in all things is the key

I mean if you are sponsored by a company that provides steroids etc you do need to promote here in shows also as they don’t just give you it to look good naked

Well said brother

I personally did not like the competition thing on many levels. I didn't like the way the shows were conducted, or presented. I didn't like the way they treated the athletes. I didn't like the way the criteria by which they were judged. What I did like was preparing for the show. That headset was intense. (Oddly enough, my dad was a pro boxer and said he liked the training but not the fighting -- even though he was ranked in the top 10).

Working toward looking your best is something everyone should experience and having to show it on stage is a great incentive. But I don't think I'd ever do it again because I have enormous resentment for the NPC. (And it has nothing to do with my placings. I really didn't give a shit about that. It's a lot of other stuff ).

Yea except in my buddy's case he has millions of followers. Kid has an addition for his cars.

100%. My buddy that I mentioned earlier is literally sponsored by Tinder among many other fitness and non-fitness related endorsements. Just for having a nice face and good genes. He was on Good Morning America a few years ago for getting the most "right swipes" on Tinder in the entire US.

I personally can’t do the social media thing. I have friends that do but for me. I love to be in the gym and feeling the pump. I’m not going to be the one grabbing my phone and recording a video to post. Lol. I do it because I love it and when I get on stage it does cost a lot of money. I have no desire to make money off it. My desire when on stage is too compete against others that have put in just as much work as I have. Love it!
