So today, my wife and I went shopping after church... Since we were both hungry and there's obviously not anything at the mall either of use were going to eat, we stopped into GNC very quickly to grab a quest bar and a isopure drink... She was looking at the green supplement area so I was just kind of waiting and looking at a few things and the kid working there comes up to me and says, "have you seen this sweet product here that we have? It increases your libido and can actually boost your testosterone too!! My wife looks at me and starts shaking her head laughing because she already knows there is a huge smartass remark coming from me... So, out loud, in front of so many customers, I say " Bro, why the fuck would I take that... I take REAL testosterone." LOLLL He was speechless for a minute then he says... "Oh the REAL stuff... Wow, well yes, I can tell... LOLLL I think we laughed the entire way out the door to the car... LOLLL
 
I kinda find it insulting when a over weigh employer comes and ask do you know what your looking for...you serious!!!

This drives me mad. Sitting over 200 lbs at 8% with veins flowing down my forearms and some heifer has to ask if I've used creatine and understood the consequences? Smh
 
LOL Dylan ... sounds like something you would typically say! I detest it when 'know-it-alls' i) Approach you and try to inform you about the various products they have on the shelf or ii) Tell you that you should drop whatever you are about to pay and rather try this/that when you KNOW that what you are buying works for you through trial and error and then iii) Are blobs of water retention from either Estro-overload due to long estered test usage or waaaayyyyy too much creatine and then they try do advise you on what to do and what not ...

Now I am not the biggest or most shredded guy out there ... I sit at 210 17%, which is about 185 stage-ready, but then still, do they think I got here by not knowing my supplements, my AAS or what works for me and what not?

I usually just give them a side-glance and the missus will step in and explain that we know what we want, but thanks nonetheless ... especially when I'm on and week 4 approaches.

She got to a point where she forces me to get EVERYTHING I would need on cycle prior to starting ... prevents me from ending up in precarious situations ... haha.
 
I go into GNC for the free samples. I stand there and devour the chews while some lard ass tells me about natty t-boosters and shit.
 
I haven't been into a GNC in years, but a couple weeks ago an employee of GNC came running out to get advice from me, since the GNC is right next to the place I tan, and he has seen me walk in there several times and thought I looked "jacked" lol.
 
That's hilarious! I deter anyone from that store that I possibly can. Coworkers and friends are constantly asking me what they should buy at gnc for a boost in the gym. The obvious answer would be dat der cell tech, but let's keep that our secret in the bb'ing community ;)
 
HAHA well let the truth be told! I'm sure the kid was not expecting that answer but all in all I bet it was worth a chuckle for that afternoon.

I love Vitamin Shoppe.. and they have some of the most 'intellectual kids' born working there usually........one kid.. probably college aged would constantly follow me around asking every time I touched a product if I had tried it? and if I said No!. then he'd proceed to tell me how his friend has and has gained 25lbs of muscle in one week....Finally after his continual 'questioning'.. I picked up some creatine and then I asked him.. "Hey.. do you know that snorting this will get it faster into your blood stream"?......lol...then I walked out.
 
GNC sucks.. can't believe any serious lifter would actually go in that place. I walk by and look inside and the garbage they have displayed just sickens me. tubs of garbage

compare that to our sponsors on here. sarms1, NTBM, myproH, and ag guys .. places that sell real shit and real supps

i told my wife, next time we'll just starve until we get home... LOLLLL i am not kidding, she nearly had tears running down her face because of the way i came across and the way people looked... i made the kid look and feel dumb as rocks, im sure... i had not been in a gnc in years... it was funny to see how misguided and ridiculous that entire store and the customers were... i wanted to pull them all aside and get them on real cycles...
 
I worked in a gnc in the early 90s while in high school (back when Met-Rx was cutting edge). This company is about as cutthroat as it gets, total slime. They used to cut their gainers with "corn solids" ie powder hcfs, sugar cane stalk byproduct, and hydrolyzed fats. Employees got zero training and were told to just rehash the marketing on labels. Commissions were based only on the sale of gnc brands products so there you go.

who would've thought??? LOLLLL its like going to sections at best buy and asking someone about a computer who still can't even use a fucking typewriter... LOLLL its prevalent... that's not to say there are not some there that know "something" but generally, most don't know their ass from a hole in the ground and they prey on all the people that come in there that are completely in the dark on everything... its absurd... this is one of the several underlying factors that has me moving towards opening my own store in vegas (which I am thoroughly working on)

I know, these are my go-to for all my supps and ancillaries. GNC is such a ripoff.
 
Buddy of mine works at one...I get all the free returned proteins lol. I have like 10lbs+ of Isopure whey.
Now my local GNC a funny thing happened a few yrs back...maybe less. 2 bro's got caught pinning each other with gear in the back room. I know this b/c the manager goes to my gym and was trying to quietly discuss it with the gym owner but I could over hear everything. He said, 'they looked gay, the one employee was bent over the desk like he was taking it, and the other had his face in his ass trying to figure out where to pin" I laughed so daum hard out loud everyone in the gym thought I was going crazy.
I mean can ya'll imagine walking in on two bro's doing that shit LMFAO!!!!!
 
they have fishoil ain't bad. one time I walked in there was actually a bodybuilder taller after course he just got done doing a so to speak a natural I don't know for sure if he was but. told him mystate teen wins when I was his age he made a good point how it might be easier farting noticed at a natural contest as far as sponsor. as long as they don't do lie detecter. he and I talked he explained and I already knew. everything that's in there that may help, is way under dosed. and stuff that's behind glass that's a bullshit cabinet nothing is worth a damn.well took this out of proportion the thread I still like walking in and laughing at the hypes on products just like muscle tech has a product that promised 17 pound gain 12 weeks and the placebo gained 4 pounds its called clear raises m.tor hell we raise that naturally don't they make enuff.when I was a kid wasted alot of money finally I watched Lee Haney every morning he stressed on eating good. that's my secret I have slightly more offseason fatty than most about ten pounds but I feel like I eat a bull lol everyone I love this forum

I don't know what the corporate structure of GNC looks like, but I've worked in a supplement store before.

We got paid on commission. So yeah, I was that guy who would ask people if they wanted to help, and steer them towards a whole bunch of supplements with a whole bunch of fillers that ultimately will impact their wallet more than their body. But did I feel bad? Not really.

45% of supplement store customers are your overweight, average person who hits the gym twice a week, and on the special week that they get there 4 times a week, they have a big cheat weekend.

The next 45% of customers are your natty gym bros, who believe that Steve Cook and those Physique Olympia dudes don't touch gear. They might get a little ripped for a festival one summer, but they're not educated enough about supplements to know what they should/shouldn't be taking. They also party tons, and that stops them from ever hitting a decent size/shred.

So the final 10% of people that come in actually know what they need. Most of the time they're only in there because they forgot to re-order their protein online, and need a 2lb tub to tide them over until they can get more. You can't sell to these guys, and they're in pretty fucking immaculate shape, so you generally know when not to bother.

The bottom line is - if people genuinely BELIEVE the marketing of the products, then the product has a perceived value to them. Who am I to tell them its bullshit, they get what they want, and I get commission. Win fucking win.

(edit: that isn't to say the the supplement companies who put a few micro-doses of ingredients into a capsule and fill the rest with corn flour aren't scumbags for doing so. they are some of the worst people on the planet. but I just worked for the company at a very low level, and I like money.)
