Veteran Log Why fasting helps you live longer, helps build more muscle. and my prolong fast LOG

I weighed in early this week 2 straight days under 160. its the lowest body weight i've had in about 20 years since my endurance traithlon days. i'm now down 20 pounds since april so a bit shy of 3 months. I am keeping my dose at just 2mgs a week of the reta and having virtually no sides. I've had just a bit of constipation as my only concern, but i'm able to go the next day no problem when that happens.

workout last night as dragging. I had a bit of a rough night 2 nights prior just with some stressful things going on as I am preparing for a move next month. but just like everything in life i will push through it. I've always been told over the years from experienced athletes that it isn't the sleep you get the night before a workout or event, its the sleep you get 2 nights prior. so if you have a bad night monday night, then its not your tuesday workout that will suffer, it will be your wednesday workout. and that is what happened with me.

today i had a nice lunch with sirloin steak on the grill, potatos in the air fryer with coconut yogurt. and I am currently prepping some asparagus in my rice cooker. I also cut up a jackfruit and pineapple which I cut up into pieces and freeze. this helps them last longer and stay fresh. both are organic, i got the jackfruit from a local farm outside of the city and i got the pineapple from the store.

I am sticking to 2 meals per day. first meal being between 1pm to 3pm area. and 2nd meal usually round 4-5pm. so eating in a 4 hour window or less daily. i have NOT put a single unhealthy thing in my body in longer then i can remember. its 100% clean diet. cheat meals are for poosies as bodymonster would say lol. i have zero desire to have them
Love it

Next phase begins end of this month after my move. Packing and planning a move has taken up a lot of time. every free second has been either move preparations OR working .. plus i had to take my car in for service yesterday and then pick it back up today.. so I've not been able to train the way I've liked. its been twice a week training only.

After I move and settle in I will be doing the next phase which will be boot camp style training. There is a park nearby by new place and they have an obstacle course and trail. I plan on doing the obstacle course atleast 4x a week which will include pushups, situps, pullups, running, monkey bars, and rope work. I plan on meeting up with some people and us racing each other. I also have been looking at some workout equipment at my new place since it will be bigger which will save me more time.

Long story short my weight is at 158 so it hasn't budged in 2 weeks. been at the same level. I am still using retatrutide at 2mgs a week.
Today's meal plan is:

fasting 20 hours

cardio this morning for 45 minutes

then lunch was:
frozen jackfruit
sliced chicken + sliced potatoes.

early dinner later will be 2 eggs and salad

WORKOUT 1 hour

then after I might have some raw nuts and a light snack.

btw I got my blood pressure checked multiple times. its 122/82. also resting HR is hovering 55-62 area. which is outstanding for a person in my situation with a high stress and high move lifestyle. so cutting down has been awesome on my lipid health.

Man is there anything you don't do?? Powerlifting, bodybuilding, triathlon, and now bootcamp? Crazy bro. You're a machine.

Any crossfit in there?? Seems like it would be right up your alley.

Best of luck with the move. Moving is by far the most stressful thing if you're an organized type A personality, which you clearly are lol.

i've done crossfit before. its fun. yeah i do it all you are right. i was the kid who was in like 8 sports and 10 clubs. i have a lot of interests is my issue. i conquer one thing then move on to something new. i always need to be challenged or i get bored as fuck. i was that kind in kindergarten that was bored out of their mind while all the other kids were playing with their toys

Lol ya I kinda know what you mean..don't think I had it as bad as you but I was pretty similar with all the sports and activities. These days I barely have enough time for any hobbies so I really have to focus down on a few.

Really cool to see what you're doing. Very interesting and motivating.

Just found the log and I'll be following along.

i'm a very good time manager. once fishing season and football season starts i am not sure what i'm gonna do. both will take a huge chunk out of my weekends.

As per replies elsewhere when I've been crazy busy it's the same as you - 2x a week and maintenance only

sounds like a great strategy. i'm not surprised you aren't losing any more weight. you are already so lean, its gonna be tougher to lose anything more.

Hmmm possible iron man comeback ? I can see it happening 💪

No sir. I’m done competing. My body took too much of a beating for little reward.
I heard you say on the podcast the other day you're almost 50?!?! That's crazy you're still able to train the way you do. My knees are shot and I'm only 41. To be fair they've been fucked since I was a teenager but at my age now they're really really fucked and running isn't an option anymore. Amazing that through all you've done your body held up. I shoulda stuck with non contact sports if I was smarter

Sounds alot like bodybuilding in a way with the beating and little reward.

i credit yoga, healthy diet and fasting. nobody believes my age. people think i am in my 20's

and just an FYI. i have done cardio EVERY DAY. i cannot remember the last time i didn't do it. when i say i am only working out twice a week i am talking about weight training only. but cardio is daily, i dedicate atleast 30-90 minutes to it. it helps keep me balanced

yes. although i didn't compete in bodybuilding i still was a bodybuilder at one point. endurance athlete and powerlifting i went up against my peers and it was fun competing. took a beating over little reward. fun fact all those trophies and plaques i won during all that are in the trash. could not care less about any of it. but at the time i took great pride in them. once you go full circle you realize the only person you have to prove anything to is yourself. at this point my motivation is to share knowledge and help others.

Im like an anomaly with this, i have zero social media, no IG no FB the only people i share my jounery with is the community on our family of forms, i never entered this for the glory or any of that, i completely understand why alot do it and the aspect of social media, im actually doing this as you stated in your reply im trying to prove to myself i can do this, i have what it takes and i can one day win a show and prove im a decent bodybuilder and show myself i had what it took this whole time. I offen think all this fit a trophy if that is what it was for me i wouldn't be trying to compete, much like u im on a jounery to prove to myself i can do something difficult.

Ya I assumed you were younger than me. No idea why. You do have a really young guy voice and vibe and you're really active from the sounds of it.

Cardio everyday sounds like torture in my world but I can see why it would add balance to your life if that's what you're into. There is a sorta natural high you get when you complete a hard cardio session.

Really impressive @stevesmi

low impact cardio is the key. example: instead of running on concrete sidewalks or on roads like i see so many people doing, run barefoot on grass.. find a soccer field and just run in a circle around it. also find cardio you enjoy.

hit a hard cardio session this morning. then a brutal workout hitting my arms today. was pretty pleased with how it went. vascularity seems to be crazy good and getting good pumps. i carbed up pre workout this time and managed to break out some vascularity in my arms.

wanted to update on how things are going. if i add masteron now i know i will harden up bigtime. BUT i hate masteron lol. it makes me feel like I am sleeping on rocks. anyway I would guess my body fat is somewhere around 8-9%. my goal is 6-7%. the lowest i've ever been was 6% in my mid 20's when i was an endurance athlete running around 40-50 miles per week

I'm going to keep the reta at 2mgs a week for now. playing it by ear week to week but that seems like a good dose.

i shaved literally 2 days ago. my hair grows so fast. even after spending around 3-4K on laser hair removal (complete scam for me) next pics will do my best to be more clean shaven and i might oil up more lol

Ya like mountain biking and rowing. Mountain biking for the adrenaline rush on the trails and rowing for the full body aspect and low impact.

Running on grass sounds interesting. I'll give that a try and see if my knees can handle it. If shit ever hits the fan running skills will be important lol

if you got bad knees like that the go with pyro pilates and hot yoga. that is solid cardio and doesn't involve pressure on the knees

God damn Steve you are fucking ripped my dude! With the times weve talked before and on the podcast i always was curious how you look, hearing you for so many years on the podcast and learning with all the knowledge you have, i offen wondered what u truly looked like, Jesus i am not disappointed, you look fantastic man!! Hell of a physique 💪

Holy shit bro you looks massive. You're only 165lbs right now??? I know on the podcast you said you're kinda short but even still you look a lot heavier than 165lbs.

How do you avoid sarcopenia with all the cardio? You're holding a lot of muscle and your doing time restricted fasting. When I was doing TRF I lost so much weight including muscle. I felt good but I got so skinny.

Losing muscle from cardio or fasting is a myth. The body will always shed fat first. You need to be to 3% body fat to truly lose more muscle vs fat.
In other words if you lose 20 pounds yes a % of that will be muscle but a greater % will be fat. So you will look more muscular even at a lower weight without a shirt. With a shirt probably not you will look smaller. Like those martial artist guys who weigh like 130. With a sweater on they will look super skinny but when they take their shirt off it’s like dayum they are ripped

Now having said that you will absolutely lose strength by dropping body mass. Hence why there are weight classes. When I was 198 pounds in my mid 30s I was benching 420. I was strong as fuck. But now at my weight especially after a torn shoulder I’m lucky to bench 275 max. I won’t even attempt 300

now on the flip side. how many times do we see guys put on 20 pounds hopping on test, dbol, no AI, dirty bulking. they do it in 8 or 10 weeks no problem. how much of that is muscle? not very much at all. actual muscle tissue? VERY little. its mostly all water and fat.. since our muscle is made up of mostly water they look all fluffy and lose their vascularity. the point is its VERY easy to add or lose water weight. its EASIER to put on body fat or lose body fat. and its darn near HARD as fuck to gain or lose realy muscle tissue. its just the ways our body evolved to survive the elements and famine. and its why we as homo sapiens managed to survive and our cousins like the neantherdals went exctinct who were much more able to add muscle tissue but had a harder time adding fat/water.

Ahh ok maybe I wasn't really losing muscle then. It's funny you mentioned looking like a martial artist cuz when I was doing the TRF I felt like I looked like Bruce Lee lol. I could see all the separation in my chest and mid section even when I was pretty relaxed. Guess I just didn't have the much muscle to start with haha.

Maybe after a some years of working on getting bigger I'll try it again and I'll be happy with the results this time. Probably the healthier choice once you get older.

yeah bruce lee going on stage at a bodybuilding competition would get laughed off stage. and he was not going to be able to go into the gym and bench 3 plates. but he could break a brick in half and snap someones leg with 1 chop. its a completely different talent. same with boxers. i met an olympic boxer once at my gym and he was skinny as a rail, but if we got into a fight i would be in an ambulance after 5 seconds against him.

@stevesmi I just started Reta at 2 mgs a week can’t wait to see the results

hit a hard cardio session this morning. then a brutal workout hitting my arms today. was pretty pleased with how it went. vascularity seems to be crazy good and getting good pumps. i carbed up pre workout this time and managed to break out some vascularity in my arms.

wanted to update on how things are going. if i add masteron now i know i will harden up bigtime.

@stevesmi OMG! you ripped to the bone hella lean!

def see a big improvement in vascularity. i think you are down to 7-8% body fat. keep it going

if you add masteron your abs would pop out more. you should consider trying it again. also laser worked pretty good for me but you might have thicker hair

yeah your body fat is right around what you are saying. I think if you take a hardener steroid those abs would show much stronger. all that fasting and strong diet and cardio is paying off

bro Steve you need more red meat. if you get more you will grow more. you got good prison physique though. i would still shank you easy though

Ya like mountain biking and rowing. Mountain biking for the adrenaline rush on the trails and rowing for the full body aspect and low impact.

Running on grass sounds interesting. I'll give that a try and see if my knees can handle it. If shit ever hits the fan running skills will be important lol
Or a proper track

Stevesmi looking good.

@stevesmi man you’re looking lean and mean man! It’s hard to belive even after hair removal surgery it still grows that fast. I got lucky and don’t have much hair growth. Even on my head lol

It not only didnt work well for me but I’m growing hair in other places that didn’t have hair before. It’s hit or miss

Did you try going back to the clinic and asking what the deal is?
here is the thing. it does work. after treatment hair was falling out. but it grows back because our hair grows in cycles. so you have to keep going to get any sort of benefits. hairy dudes like myself will actually buy or rent their own machines at home and use them, they aren't cheap so you gotta be quite wealthy which i am not lol

I think I remember you mentioned your half middle eastern on the podcast? You probably got pretty thick hair. I think I'd be willing to trade for thick body hair if it meant a thick head of hair for life.

Even tho I'm half Japanese I got the full on body hair but baldness runs in my family so there's a chance I got body hair with no hair on my head lol. I've already beat the odds in my gene pool cuz both my younger brothers are pretty much bald and my dad was bald in his early 20s. My grandpa on my mom's side had really thin hair with a far back hairline as long as I can remember so odds aren't good for me. I got a lumpy ass head from all the knocks I've taken over the years so if my hair goes it's gonna be am ugly scene

You have the bushido spirit for sure @BeMe :D no joke, you're hardcore tough.

yeah being hairy is def genetic. its funny though people bitch that they can't grow body or facial hair. i've seen that a lot over the years. everyone wants the opposite in life

I actually have read quite a few books on the Bushido code. I always valued honor above everything else from the time I was little. I think my great uncle and grandpa must've drilled it into my head when I was a kid. I read books about samurai and the Bushido code and it just hit me one day. My great great grandfather was literally samurai. He came to Canada, positioned the government to wear his swords, they said no and he left back to Japan lol

I don't think anyone's wishing they grew less hair on their head and more on their body... except maybe a pre-pubescent teen boy.

Hopefully someone figures a cure for baldness before my time runs out lol

Even just everyday applications it's a great way to live. I think it's kind of like a religion minus the diety. Nothing but self improvement minus the worship, which in my eyes is a good thing.

trust me we've seen plenty like that. i'm like dude WTF. be careful what you wish for. SMH

also 100% gear makes my hair grow faster. like twice as fast. it sucks bigtime. and i can't use razors either ANYWHERE or i will get ingrown hairs.

Ouch...ya in grown hairs are pretty bad.

I've noticed my body hair is growing more on cycle too. Had a couple hairs sprout up outta no where on the top of my feet, same on both sides. My arm hair foesn usually get that long but it's growing longer now too. Worth it tho lol

I wouldn’t have guessed he was 50 except he’s like, really wise. You can really tell he’s right a lot of things through all the way, and lived them. Lots of anecdotal experience. It mashes sense now

Too each their own. I don't judge. Whatever makes someone happy is good with me.

The only problem I have with organized religion is how people justify terrible atrocities like war with their religion. Or when people fight because they feel their religion is better than the other guys. Or organized pedophilia, televangelists, etc...

Usually following someone who believes they speak to or on behalf of a diety leads to trouble. So religion without worship sounds like a good solution to me. Definitely NOT saying religion is all bad though because it does a lot of good in the world too. Just that it gets mid used so often on such a large scale it gives me pause.

thanks. yes man i am almost 50.

older podcasts we had a lot of guests on, i learned a ton from them both on and off the podcast. bio-hackers, science guys, run of the mill docs, etc. i asked a lot of questions and picked their brain a lot. plus reading lots and lots of books and reading lots and lots of studies. plus it helps being on these forums and seeing all the things guys do right and wrong. it adds up over time. these forums are extremely valuable and 100x better then any of these social media fake hacks or the info you would get from bros at the gym. i would equate it like going to a football game. out of the 70K that show up including media and players on both sides. you got probably 100 people in that stadium who can tell you everything about every player on that field, their stats, what college they played, how good they are. they can look at the formations and call the plays before the snap, they point out every penalty called or missed. when there is a flag they know the penalty before the coaches on the field even know what happened. they could be better GM's then the actual team's GM making 1M a year.. draft better. make better trades and FA aquisitions. so that is what i aim to be. the 100 out of 70K

I asked a gf when I should start shaving my head. She said “five years ago” hahahaha. And this is generally the case although one can pull off a confident mpb if they choose. I did for a long time because I’ve got lumpy muscles in my head, always have. I was visibly losing my hair at 18 years old, and they say by the time you can see it you’ve lost almost half of your hair.

The ancient Romans knew how to prevent baldness with 100% efficacy. Castration. I always tell young guys that ask me about going bald hahaha.

I actually gave my hair one last shot several years ago. Did ghk-cu, finasteride, minoxidil, microneedling. It was working very noticeably. When I started taking testosterone my dht response over powered everything.

There’s so much bs about balding it’s out of control. Every one says it’s from your mom’s side. My mom’s dad died with a full head of hair, and her brothers have full heads of hair. My dad super bald, has been since his mid twenties.

From everything I can figure, if you have a lot of dht receptors in your scalp, a lot of dht, or both, you are going to lose your hair to whatever degree those factors dictate. It sucks, no one wants to lose their hair. Some people can manage it, others it’s just too aggressive and it’s a losing battle.

I noticed shedding after starting TRT so I started the rogain foam. Not willing to risk trying finasteride and I'm worried about the needling stuff. My brother got aggressive and he went bald really young. I'm gonna chill and hope for the best.

It's actually pretty clear that you're one of those really book smart guys. I can tell cuz on the podcasts your pronunciation of a lot of medical terms is phonetic vs the way people hear them and repeat them. It's obvious so much of your knowledge came from reading which is really impressive. I wish I could open a book and read and learn...my brain just doesn't work that way. If you tell me something I'll remember it forever cuz I can remember where I was and what I was doing when I was told it. Books always just have me trailing off and skimming words a few pages in. You're clearly gifted and we're lucky you share so much us plebs lol. You shoulda stayed in med school or gone the law route and you'd be rich as fuck right now haha...but you'd probably have man boobs too

If you tell me something I'll remember it forever cuz I can remember where I was and what I was doing when I was told it. Books always just have me trailing off and skimming words a few pages in. You're clearly gifted and we're lucky you share so much us plebs lol. You shoulda stayed in med school or gone the law route and you'd be rich as fuck right now haha...but you'd probably have man boobs too
I used to take a chair and a book and go to the beach EVERYDAY after work when i lived close to it. i remember sometimes kids would be playing on the beach annoying me lol. also i am one of those people who go to the book stores and read them there and are too cheap to buy them. i just read them for free ha.

but reading is one of those things that is cool to zone in on. its actually the most attractive trait a man could have when dealing with females according to the studies. the 2nd is foreign languages, and 3rd is playing an instrument. cooking and woodworking round out the top 5.

the least attractive trait? collecting comic books lol, cosplay whatever the hell that is, debating, drinking and MTG which is some geeky stuff i have no interest in.

I noticed shedding after starting TRT so I started the rogain foam. Not willing to risk trying finasteride and I'm worried about the needling stuff. My brother got aggressive and he went bald really young. I'm gonna chill and hope for the best.
Finasteride is the one that’s going to actually do real things. Guys that get hair transplants get on it before, and stay on it, I believe. There are horror stories, but I tolerated it well. I tried to get it even I was much younger, and still had a lot of hair, enough that it was worth saving for sure. My doctor didn’t want to do it. I’m pretty pissed, honestly. I was a really good looking dude with hair. I have a couple friends that kept their hair with it, and one is 55 now, his whole family is bald. He started taking it as soon as he started balding. It reversed the hairloss right away and he didn’t have to keep taking it. He’s a pretty jacked dude. Natty. Still a bad ass Florida man lineman. Used to be a stripper too😂

It's funny cuz the only time I can really dial in and read is on a beach in vacation. Other than that my mind just tends to wander. I can tell you're one of those guys that reads the entire study. I'm the guy that just skips to the conclusions lol

On a separate note, I'm listening to the podcast where you described your first pinning experience...holy fuck I'm dying bro. Just kept getting funnier. In the closet with a mirror, cut your face, over dosed the shot, then sore as fuck the next days after you thought it went so well. Killer story!

Too scared of what can go wrong with finasteride. Not worth the risk in my opinion. If I wanted to get hardcore I think I'd go the propecia route instead. Hopefully it won't come to that tho and I'll still be able to strip one day if I fall on hard times lol

Oh those are the same thing. Propecia is lower dose finasteride. The bigger dose is for prostate stuff. Forget what they call it.

Btw, my buddy told me dudes pay more🙈😂. He’s a little funny hahaha

Aaaah I think some are on YouTube that aren’t on the other platforms. Thanks!

That's definitely true. YouTube has everything but on Spotify a lot is missing.

glad you guys like the podcasts. more to come. we are pumping out about 12-13 a month now
Best content out there. I would listen even if the topic wasn’t something I was into. It’s just good talk. You guys are good at it. My buddy is an amateur actor and a pretty smart guy with a lot of life experience, his podcasts are pretty awkward. He needs more reps. You guys are killing it.

old episodes only on youtube brother ;) @BeMe
No for sure new ones too. I get notifications.

Stevesmi is correct - we've done a BUNCH this month inc 4 in one week and averaging 3. They ALL get loaded but it's down to admin as to which channel gets them first

Thanks. This is the kind of feedback is what we do it for. I've talked to stevesmi in the pre and post show chats about this.

The ones that stay the course are NOT the ones were the convo is forced and the 'image' or persona faked. Over time people see through that so being yourself works. We also enjoy it.

Kinda. I've seen that same fella since and he's been to jail, got sober and right now doing real well. What happened then was he came up to me and shook my hand in thanks for a few chats we'd had and said 'you helped save my life' which was quite something to be told.

It amounted to me listening before, being positive, pulling him up when he chatted sh*t and giving him a few minutes. I've done this a few times for the odd 'joe'. It's the whole being big, tall, positive vibe and being able to string the odd word together. If I'm out taking pics and getting my steps in I always have a chat with the locals - it's part of being a part of the community you live in. Equally, I spend 90% of day on my own so an hour or so out with a few minutes for a 'pal' is no great effort. Did it yesterday and two former rough types showed me blurry pics of Roebuck Deer on their phones (coming down from the hills nearby) plus me and the GF went to local horticultural show (sign of my age ha ha).

By way of example of what was a head fuck for him (usual hamster on a wheel head f**k and one of several most of which were more serious) was really quite silly - the English nations disbanding on his clan (he has a Scottish surname) back when. And how he'd like to fix that. I asked him when it had happened... try 1250ad. I straight out laughed and said I hadn't got a clue what my grand dad did during the war. Adding that I don't give two f**ks what happened 875 years ago FFS as it's wasted energy.

Some people really hold a grudge in the "United" Kingdom. These feuds and ideals get passed down from generation to generation and like you said, who the fuck even knows why. They just know how they've been told to feel about a certain issue. I'm Irish/English Protestant/ Catholic on my Dad's side and I did a little dive into the Northern and Southern Irish and British history years ago. Crazy to think that even now things still kick off once and while over the problems from way back then. I've seen stuff online with little kids singing IRA songs and throwing moltov cocktails or rocks at cops in this day and age. You guys really know how to hold a grudge over there lol. It difficult to understand, but I'm coming from a country that's barely 150 years old.

Ive heard a few podcase, especially one on deca and absolutely loved it. Very nice to hear the convo. Unfortunately I cant do 2 things at a time, so I cant keep doing daily chores while listening to these so i need dedicated time.
