Hello gang,

I was a member on here quite awhile back, but I went AWOL for a couple years and ate myself into a coma. Damn near literally. I gained a shit load of weight over the past several years and my health took a beating. Ended up with t2 diabetes, elevated cholesterol, high blood pressure, sleep apnea, you name it. Finally, when I hit 240 I had enough. (Btw , I'm only 5'2", so you can imagine). I spent the past 12-16 months discovering how to eat properly and regaining my love for the gym again. Got my TRT pretty dialled in when it was all over the place forever Lost 75lbs, currently at 165 abs feeling pretty damn great!
On my way down, I did my first cycle, pretty standard, 350 test for 12 weeks and finished off with some anavar. This was still quite awhile back and I was probably over 30% bf still so I probably shouldn't have, but I was realistic about my expectations, my goal for it was more to help push strength in the gym and preserve muscle on my way down. Exceeded my expectations and had no issues.
Now I'm planning another round, this time I'm looking at doing a test/mast cycle. A few reasons for this, realistically I realized I am still in a position where I'd like to cut a bit over any type of bulk. Second, the way everyone describes how they "feel" on mast is attractive to me. At this point and with my goals I'd rather have some lean composition changes and feel like a million bucks than deal with less than desirable sides. The vibe I get is that most people love how they feel on mast. Anyways, like most of these compounds, people argue until the cows come home about ratios, but I'd like to hear from you guys. I've read everything from 2-1 test/mast to 2/1 mast/test. I was thinking of 375 test 250 mast, which is kind of an odd number, but really it's because those numbers work perfectly for the amount of test I already have on hand, and 2 vials of mast will allow for 250 over 16 weeks. Thoughts and tips along the way? Plan is 16 weeks running from Sept up into Christmas. I'm also tossing around the idea of finishing up with anavar if everything is going well and I'm feeling good around the last 6 weeks or so, but I'm up in the air about that.

Bloodwork - I'm due for my TRT bloodwork in a little over a week, and I'm only due every 6 months at this point. My last bloodwork was my best in years, and I'm only expecting better as I've probably lost close to 30 since my last.

I've attached my last bloodwork. My only big concerns is my hematocrit is high a bit, it has been pretty much since I started try, but stays pretty much there. Also estradiol is high, always sits around there too. Don't really notice much other that I battle acne pretty bad even on TRT, and I grew hair freakin everywhere.

Ok, diet. I've been in a deficit for over a year for sure, with scheduled breaks along the way. I'm on one right now and will probably eat at maintenance until I start cycle in Sept. While in a deficit, I eat as low as 1700 a day, with a once a week refeed of around 2000. This has kept me losing pretty steadily, and it took over a year to lose 75lb, although things picked up substantially as I got stronger and more intense in the gym. I track all my food when I'm deficit, with around 160g protein a day and the balance leaned a little heavier to the fat side than carbs. I work at a remote mine site on 14/14 schedule where I live and am fed at work. This makes accurate tracking hard , and the food isn't the healthiest. I bring in a lot of my own food at this point
Training is currently 5 day split, with 3 upper and 2 lower days. This is the absolute best split for my work and travel schedule and I love it. I also do incline treadmill at a casual zone 2 pace 5-6 days a week. My job is VERY sedentary at this point. As a former millwright, I was accustomed to physical labor, but now I'm at a desk for 13 hour shifts. So I also get up early, and shoot for 10,000 steps before my shift starts. When I'm at the mine, there isn't much for me to do except work and exercise lol. The only thing that suffers is sleep. At work, 6.5 hours is a great night 😞

TRT is enanthate, 160mg/wk split into two. No AI, no HCG, just test.
Supps
Multi, fish oil, zinc, magnesium,, ashwagandha, K2/X3 10,000 units.

Meds
Metformin 1000mg/day, pantoprazole for stomach. Baby aspirin. I was on both blood pressure and cholesterol meds when I was big, but I was pulled off both awhile back. BP averages in the 95/55 range

I think that's it? Would love everyone's input and I'm attaching a pic as well

I forgot to mention, I'm Canadian, so some of the unit values on my bloodwork might not make much sense to some of you.
I had originally considered NPP but I already have high hematocrit even on TRT so I abandoned the idea.

For this cycle I think we should look at more of a testosterone retatrutide winstrol stack for you to harden you up.
Your bloods have high estrogen did you see?

Ok, I will get on that in short enough time, it's hard while I'm out at the mine. For now I will say that while in deficit, I do track all my food using macrosfirst, 160 protein, 150 carbs and 50 fat for a total of 1690. Right now I'm on a diet break for two weeks so I'm not tracking.
As far as training, it's a 5 day split, I will post when I have more time, but basically it's an upper with chest emphasis, a lower with quad emphasis, upper with back emphasis, day off, upper arm/shoulder emphasis and lower ham/glute emphasis. This will be new that I start in Sept because it works perfectly for my schedule. Exercises are 7 or 8 each workout with an extra one for whatever is the emphasis for that day. I can post this later when I have time to figure it out, I do track works as well.
And retatrutide. I can't believe I forgot to mention that one, but I've been on prescribed ozempic, then mounjaro for quite some time, still on mounjaro. Covered by my benefits due to my diabetes, in fact that's when my doc first prescribed me

@VerticallyChallenged Wow, that is quite a story man. To be that height and be 240 pounds is quite a lot of body fat. I'm glad you're able to get things turned around. Let's kill this.

Would love everyone's input and I'm attaching a pic as well
bro i think you looked good before. 30% body fat not bad. you should see my wife she is 440lbs now @VerticallyChallenged

It we've seen a lot of guys come back from similar stories. It's always good to hear. It keeps people humble. @VerticallyChallenged

wow you have changed a lot in your pics. glad to see things are going in the right direction. have you looked at using glp1's? @VerticallyChallenged
I've been on tirzepatide for about a half year now, before that semaglutide. I was prescribed for my type 2 as soon as I was diagnosed.

My diet is about as tight as it gets at this point. I'll start posting meals shortly. But as far as my diabetes, my A1C has gone from around 8 to 5.5 where it currently sits. I'll have new bloodwork in two weeks I'll post up

Please track every day, you have diabetes it's crucial you track your diet. @VerticallyChallenged and share with us.
Would like to see details as you go.
And retatrutide. I can't believe I forgot to mention that one, but I've been on prescribed ozempic, then mounjaro for quite some time, still on mounjaro. Covered by my benefits due to my diabetes, in fact that's when my doc first prescribed me
Mounjaro is good for you what dose?

Yes to all, when I get home to days off I'll set everything up. Mounjaro is at 7.5mg right now

Metformin 1000mg/day, pantoprazole for stomach. Baby aspirin. I was on both blood pressure and cholesterol meds when I was big, but I was pulled off both awhile back. BP averages in the 95/55 range

I think that's it? Would love everyone's input and I'm attaching a pic as well
@VerticallyChallenged nice start to the log man. Glad to see you took control of your life. Be glad to see how this goes.

Good training but why failure? you don't need to go to failure. @VerticallyChallenged
did you track macros?

You'll notice everything says (work). Because I'm a remote worker, the gym at the mine is quite different than the gym at home, and even machines they are the same will have completely different weight and feel. So I ended up creating new custom exercises in Hevy for every exercise I do at work if it's a machine. If it's dumbbell or barbell, I leave it the same so I can follow progression

I will be honest, it will be very hard for me to log everything I eat on here, especially at work. It's a lot for me to make sure I post as much as I can, but it's 8:30pm, and I get up at 3:30am. And I'm on day 12 of 14. I will figure out a way to easily share at some point, but I did track and I am within my macros listed above. I always am. I would have never got as far as I have if I didn't because I'm a lose control kind of guy when it comes to food. Anyways, off to bed, hoping I can squeeze in 6.5 hours. The worst part of my entire routine is sleep, there just aren't enough hours when I'm at work

Do you have your app you're using? you can try to take pictures and post them we can gauge from the pics best we can. @VerticallyChallenged

So, quick update, I'm home from work and technically on vacation until next Tuesday. Wife and I are sneaking off to Toronto for a private getaway, then we're ramping back up starting Wednesday. The only thing I wanted to update is that I did my bloodwork this morning, and although I only have a few results at the moment but one of them is hematocrit. It's been over 52 since my first bloodwork since I started TRT over 3 years ago. But with the weight loss, exercise and concentrating on hydration, I was happy to see it dropped to 49.5 this time around!

I like your start here. Hopefully you follow through on this one

I will for sure. Like I said, after over a year of pretty much steadily being in deficit, this diet break coinciding with my vacation was planned and definitely needed. Not tracking until I get back home, but I'll will be getting everything set back up and restarting on Sept 3 at a new gym and a 4 month plan. Having said that, I got the remainder of my bloodwork, and although it's hard to edit and post on the road, it's my best bloodwork in years. Estradiol is down to 109 pmol/l (29.7). Test is 784, free test is 32. A1C is 5.4, and hematocrit is 49.5. for some reason they didn't do cholesterol this time, but it's historically been fine. Everything I had concerns about came back great

No, like I said, for some reason, the bloodwork isn't always the same, some tests get done every time, and others only get done once a year. I was surprised to see lipids weren't on there either this time around. I do know because our healthcare is free, there are some tests that are covered every 3 months, some every 6 and some once a year

Which macro app is that? I looks a lot like macrofactor but different.

It's macros first. It doesn't adjust calories like macrofactor, but I like it way more. Wife also loves it, because when she finds all those funky recipes online or in Pinterest, you can just copy the link into Macrosfirst, and it imports the recipe and all the nutritional into automatically. I've played with pretty much every macro app out there, and it's my personal favorite

Nice. Thanks for the heads up. I ignore the macro advice anyway so macrofirst sounds pretty good. Gonna check that out

You need to up your food intake to around 200 protein can you get more food in?

200 protein at 165lb?
1.5g per LB is the accepted standard for guys who train heavy. 1.2g per LB if you're protein is all coming from good sources.

1.5 covers you for the less useful protein sources that people are getting counted in their macro tracking.

200 is going to be a stretch considering I'm still in a deficit. I've been pretty steadfast for a year on the fat loss and I can pretty much set it that if I go over 2200 cal a day, I gain. 2000 seems to be maintenance for me. I mean I could do it, but my carbs and fat are going to have to go down to match. I'm definitely willing to give it a try

Anyway to add more cardio? A 2k maintenance seems really low. You got a desk job?

I average 15-17000 steps daily, and do 30 minutes incline treadmill 5x a week. I always get that comment, but I've been tracking steadily for over a year now and it's pretty accurate. Having said that, I'm not a big guy, less than 5'2". Maybe they has something to do with it? At 1800 calories I'm about 1lb a week, so I'd say maybe 2200-2300 maintenance actually

15-17000 at work. On days off I'm closer to 10-12k if I'm being honest. With winter coming (I'm Canadian) step count will go down considerably, so I usually have to up the time on the treadmill

200 protein at 165lb?
2 grams per lb that means 320 grams but 200 is a good start.
You want to retain mass while cutting right? :D

You're not in a deficif you're starving, calories dont count, macros do.

By any chance are you step tracking with a Fitbit?

Well, what I can say is I've been at this for a year, and 75 lb andsince day one, and if I go over 2200 cal a day, I gain. At 1800 calories a day, I'm hardly starving

Your body is likely in starvation mode and your metabolic rate crashed. You need to start moving that or you'll blow up one day.

Pixel watch 3 , prior to that Samsung Galaxy watch 4. Both were pretty close, because I do the same route daily at work and the numbers were similar. I wake up before my shift and shoot for 70-90 minutes walking before my shift starts

I know my galaxy watch tracked pretty high on the step counts. Not outrageous tho, unlike fitbits.

I think you need to listen to @LevButlerov cuz what he's saying makes sense and he knows what he's talking about.

Your metabolic rate seems incredibly low. You're a pretty jacked 5'2 so you should be burning calories at a pretty good rate. Something is off

So, you're saying, 200 protein a day, what about carbs and fats? What do you suggest for my total macros and calorie count?

Total macros for you 200 grams protein about 150 grams of carbs and 80 grams of fat with 30 grams of fiber :D

Ok, it's done. What about a refeed day, thoughts? I've always done one day a week with increased carbs, but I was in a lot more of a deficit

@VerticallyChallenged wow good job on the food! the weighted back extensions and standing calf raises are perfect

Thanks! First routine I've done on my own. Honestly, it's based on my schedule, and mostly what I enjoy doing, as well as I've been dealing with a wonky back for the better part of a year. My age, and the fact that the first 25 years of my career were really hard on my body. So things like squats and deadlifts I'm really easing into.
Anyways, here is today. Food I bumped up as per Lev's recommendation, choices weren't ideal, I have the in-laws visiting from out of town so this weekend will be a lot of tasty food that I'll work around.

Today's workout - Upper 2

Seated Row
1 warm up - 50% - 15 reps
2 sets 5-8 reps - RPE 8-9

Pullover (Dumbbell)
2 sets 10-12 - RPE 8-9

Incline Bench Press (Dumbbell)
1 warm up 50% - 15 reps
2 sets 8-10 reps - RPE 8-9

Lat Pulldown (Cable)
Close or mid grip
2 sets 8-10
1st set RPE 9
2nd set to failure

Bicep Curl (Barbell)
2 sets 10-12 - RPE 8

Skullcrusher (Barbell)
2 sets 10-12 - RPE 8

Lu Raise
2 sets - 8-6-4 drop sets
perform last drop to failure

Pics attached for food - bumped up the macros, mostly protein

Also, we also switched gyms this week, we kind of outgrew (or got bored with) the Planet Fitness we were at. Much better selection of equipment, but we're still getting our bearings in the place

25 year career? How old are you? You don't look old enough to have a 25 year career, well atleast your body doesn't.

Ya planet fitness isn't the spot for a guy like you. Much better gyms out there for bodybuilders. I'm sure you'll be glad you switched. @Noah Wixx is pretty famous for starting out at planet fitness and he said making the switch was one of the great things that contributed to the beast he is today.

Thank you for the compliment! I'm 52 lol, and I've worked in the mining industry since I was 16, although I'm chained to a desk 13 hours a day now

Macros look good :D food went up and you're making good progress! Did you have a good pump with the curls and skull crushers? :D @VerticallyChallenged

Wow you got really great skin for 52 bro. I thought maybe late 30s or early 40s like me.

I'm sure it's all thanks for that good clean living right lol. You miners are always known for going to bed early after a hard day's work lol.

Glad you're off the tools now tho. Certain labour jobs can really tough on your body and when you get a lot older you're basically crippled because of it. I'm an electrician and I see a lot of the older guys still on the tools are wrecked.

😆 🤣 😂 i still can't escape the planet fitness cloud above my head 😅 yeah @BeMe is spot on changing gyms changed everything for me in all meaningful aspects, wouldn't be where im at now if i didn't.

Having said that, PF definitely served it's purpose for me. I'm in northern Ontario and not a huge selection of gyms. The PF is brand new this year, has six Smith racks, is half the price of everything else, and was 5 minutes from my house. But in the end, I wanted more

Similar situation PF was the only game in town for many many years and i grew comfortable, then i spoke with mobster and stevesmi who run the evo podcast and it encouraged me to find a new gym, after ive never been so strong in my life as i am right now since being at my new gym my growth exploded.

Bro you're are the greatest example of what changing gyms can do. Sorry to keep blowing up your spot but it's good inspiration for others.

All I gotta do is say look @Noah Wixx

End of story lol

There's a lot of parallels here.

Look at @Noah Wixx

Like I said lol. Great person to model yourslef after. Planet fitness is still doing good for you guys. Noah loves to help and Vertical can see what's possible from the switch. Win win bros

Plus I'm an Ontario boy too. The parallels keep growing

New place is a Goodlife. I think that's a Canada only chain, but definitely more well equipped than PF. Only thing I wish it had was a belt squat, cause my back hates squats. But now I'm just being nit picky

GoodLife is a definite step up. They're everywhere too so if you travel you can still train. For the Americans GoodLife is a lot like LA fitness.

You guys don't have any powerlifting/bodybuilding gyms out your way? That will be where you wanna go after you max out GoodLife. Keep it in mind for the years to come that way you can research and have a spot already picked out for when the time comes.

Can always try hack squat if thats an option of dumbell squats i utilize both because of issues i got its worked out well, my gym thankfully has a belt squat as well.

You aren't blowing my spot up at all man, i always appreciate the love and the kind words, in the end seeing u motivated and possibly others keeps me pushing and my drive high, it all works out to help us all in the end 💪 you can toss me in as an example anytime u like or see fit.

Oh yeah, hack squat at Goodlife, and it's in my new routine. One of the big reasons I switched.

A little more info on me. I work at a remote mine site on a 14/14 schedule and that presents a lot of unique challenges. For those not familiar, that means I leave home to go work for 14 days and live at the mine, then come home for 14 days off. This means two gyms, and the one at work is adequate, but as you can guess, not a lot of variety. So I try to keep at least a core set of exercises that I can do at both. This is why I moved to Goodlife. Both have Hammer Strength incline press, which allows me to go really heavy without a spotter. Both have trap bars, which are a lot easier on my aging back. But there is definitely differences in my workouts from home to at work.
The next big thing is food. At work, everything is made for us, but that means we have to pick from what's there, and it's a lot of guesswork. You have no idea what anything is cooked in, so you have to pick the worst case scenario. This throws accuracy off. So for example if it's mashed potatoes, I just go into Macrosfirst, and pick the highest calorie option because I have no idea how much butter or milk they use. Some days I'm lucky and it's jasmine rice, at least I know what it is. The past few months my wife has been meal prepping me 12-14 meals I freeze and bring to work so I can work around days when the menu is shit
Last is sleep. My shifts are 13 hours, and I'm chained to a desk for pretty much all of it. Lucky if I get 2500 steps in in 13 hours. So I wake up at 3-3:30 am, and walk for 60-90 minutes before my shift starts. Then a 13 hour shift, back to the bunkhouses, eat, let that settle a bit, work out, and it's 8pm. Chat with the wife for 15-20 and crash out. If I'm lucky, I get 6 hours in. That's been the one big thing I can't get around. I've never been much of a sleeper anyways, and until I got into this, I'd consider 6 hours a great night sleep, but I know the importance of it

Yeah, I have white hand pretty bad. I'm a Millwright by trade. Grip strength is suffering back, so straps are my best friend for anything back.

Sounds rough but you are definitely making the best of it. Nothing wrong with some calisthenics. I've seen some guys come outta prison insanely jacked just from bodyweight training. You could program some HIIT days doing bodyweight work. It will burn a ton of calories.

Your wife sounds awesome meal prepping for you like that. You're a blessed guy.

She does this with me too. Lifts all sorts of heavy shit lol

Figured I'd lay out the whole program for everyone. Still a work in progress, with a new gym, the wife and I are trying some new things. This is the base for the next 4-5 weeks, after that volume may go up. Probably just add a set to existing exercises.

Training looks great bro. Lots of variation to keep things interesting. Great for shaping up. I can already here @Mobster saying too much volume, too much variation, slap the granny and focus down on a few excercises lol. That's what he told me when he saw my similar program. He's not a fan of these type of programs to say the least lol. But for your situation it makes a lot of sense. I personally find variation makes things more fun too

Same. The exact same workout ad nauseum would bore me to tears, and if I'm bored, I don't go. This has never been a "love" of mine like it is for some people, so I have to keep it fresh. I do get the logic for simplifying things and focusing on progression, but I honestly would lose interest so fast. Also, some of the stuff thrown in there is 100% for Kate lol. Gotta keep her happy too!

Love that. Being able to train together is amazing. I really admire it. I've been trying to convince my wife for years but no luck yet. She'll do the occasional cardio session while I train but that's it so far. I'll wear her down one day tho lol.
