Hi Evo Fam 💚,
Welcome to my 2nd log following on from Road Back to the Platform 2025.
This log will document my recovery from firstly Pneumonia then an unknown, untreated heart condition.
I have outlined most of this at the end of the first log but I will briefly outline this again.
Medical
I have Arterial Fibrillation (undiagnosed) which over many years has caused heart muscle weakness. This is now at the beginning of Treatment.
I have a number of meds that I now take to assist in recovery. (Pic below)

So on to the log itself.

Most importantly I will now progress towards the best health I have ever been in as I will not be battling an unseen enemy, however it will take time.
Training Program
5 days a week, starting in a week or so. Starting like a newbie to ensure that heart stress is minimised initially. Remainder of this week and next week will simply be walking to improve my breathing to start with.
Supplements
NAC
Probiotic
Magnesium
Multivitamin
The rest have been shelved at pharmacy request for the time being.

PEDs
TRT - 175mg of Test E Platinum from UGL OZ

This is a major part of this log as the effect of low level peds on heart conditions is not documented well and info is scarce. If I can show TRT is possible with a heart condition (which I think it is), then that is worthwhile education.
I mention what I am using and by who as I believe continuity is important in this area. Hopefully further down the track I can look at other peds (Deca, Mast, Eq) at low doses to see if they have any benefits or not.

So far I have had two pins with no sides and zero issues. Next one is in 2 days.

Diet
Doesn't change much, just a bit less salt and caffeine. Sly breakfast pic here 😏

So Evo Fam here we go on a major new journey that I hope will provide some educational benefits and information as I navigate this new reality I find myself in.

EVO FAM YNWA 🤍

EVO family love your way, happy you restarted your log :D @Kopite67 Glad to see you logging this and taking the cautious route, especially with the afib and recovery from pneumonia. Starting with walking before easing into weights is the smartest move, your breathing and heart will thank you. TRT at 175mg is a steady base and good to hear you’ve had no issues from the first couple pins. Diet tweaks with less salt and caffeine are right on point too. This log will help a lot of guys who don’t see much info on TRT with heart conditions, so keep tracking it all and let the journey show what’s possible.

Yes do a slow build up of both cardio and weights is OK. Usually they deal with people who have done minimal or no exercise, so I have to be slowed down not brought up levels 😅. I will probably need a cardiac ablation to get the heart into regular rhythm. Over the next 12 months I believe we will see some spectacular results. I will be fitter than ever. Hence the importance on keeping this log detailed.

Absolutely we will. I'm stronger than ever

Hi Evo Fam,
First day went as thus:
Weight 104.6kg
Fluid restriction maintained at 1.5ltr
BP 103/70 which based on the last 2 weeks is really good (been as low 82/59 on occasions)
Foe exercise I did 2 walks today of 140m and 180m which were taxing but my recovery was better.
Still no sides or reactions from TRT and feel better each day at present.
Menu was loose today after 2 weeks of hospital food, but I did have:

Meal 1: 2 slices wholemeal toast, 20g blue cheese, half an avocado, 2 eggs fried, 100g smoked Salmon, 4 grapes tomatoes
Meal 2: 2 pieces fish, cup of peas and corn, 250g low card potatoes.
Meal 3: 8 x Chicken drummettes

Though I hesitated to log these, also attached are photos from day 1 of this log.
Obviously it is after 2 weeks in hospital, no gym work, no pump and no flex.
But it is a starting point......the bottom 😬

EVO FAM YNWA🤍

Unfortunately I did wait, and that is on me. My nearest and dearest told me to go for a couple of weeks and I didn't. Was almost the dumbest and last thing I did. Will not happen again, that I promise.

Evening Evo Fam,
Second day of freedom had the following:
Weight 103.6kg - bit of a drop so watching this as I am on 3 separate diuretics.
Fluid restriction is still 1.5ltr till at least Monday
BP 97/62, pulse 94 still irregular.
I walked a bit more today and chest is definitely feeling clearer. Fitness is awful though and will take time.

Menu today had:
Meal 1: 2 slices wholemeal toast, 20g blue cheese, half an avocado, 3 egg Omelette, 15g smoked Salmon, 4 grapes tomatoes
Meal 2: 2 Merlot and Cracked Pepper sausages, cup of peas and corn, 250g low card potatoes.
Meal 3: Low fat icecream and pineapple
Meal 4: Mixed berries and low fat yoghurt
Pics below.
Not tracking macros yet, but it will be done soon.

Still looking good in those photos.

Do you have to get regularly tested or anything. And have they told you certain things to look out for (symptoms I suppose)?
Whilst I am only in the very beginning stages of this recovery, the things I need to watch are, fluid retention and wild BP swings. These are really good at present. Any obvious heart pain, increased lack of air and advanced fatigue also are on my radar and none of these are apparant.
I see my GP for the first post hospital visit tomorrow so a plan will start from there.
The two best things so far are:
My 175mg TRT has no influence on anything negatively and is only giving positive vibes. So you don't have to stop TRT.
I am over the worst of it. Everything I am going through now is improving my health not making it worse, which is what was happening for many years unknowingly.

Weight dipping a bit is expected with the diuretics and fluid cap, just keep an eye on energy while you adjust. BP and pulse are low side but chest clearing and being able to walk more is a solid sign you’re improving. Meals look balanced enough for now, once you track macros you’ll be able to tighten things up and push recovery faster. @Kopite67

Today was a definite improvement.
Weight 104kg,
BP 97/62 pulse 72
I was able to walk over 500m today in one hit which is the most in over 2 weeks. Recovery was rapid too.

TRT pin was today and again nothing adverse, in fact I thought I improved a bit. Even if that is not the case the mental feeling it did was a boost to me.
Tomorrow cardio starts in earnest and If my GP agrees a light weight session.

Menu today:

Today was a definite improvement.
Weight 104kg,
BP 97/62 pulse 72
I was able to walk over 500m today in one hit which is the most in over 2 weeks. Recovery was rapid too.

TRT pin was today and again nothing adverse, in fact I thought I improved a bit. Even if that is not the case the mental feeling it did was a boost to me.
Tomorrow cardio starts in earnest and If my GP agrees a light weight session.

Menu today:
Meal 1: 2 slices wholemeal toast, 20g blue cheese, half an avocado, 2 eggs fried, 75g smoked Salmon.
Meal 2 : 200g Barramundi, 75g Potatp Salad, 75g Olive and rigatoni salad, 75g Lentil Salad, 4 radishes
Meal 3: 3 pieces baked fish, 50g rigatoni salad, 50g lentil salad
Meal 4: Mixed berries and low fat ice cream

Tomorrow will be even better.

That’s a solid step forward, walking 500m after being down for 2 weeks is a big win and the recovery numbers back it up. TRT pin going smooth is a bonus and if it gives you that mental lift then all the better. Menu looks balanced with quality protein from salmon, barramundi, and eggs, plus the salads keeping it nutrient dense without being heavy. Cardio tomorrow and easing into weights under GP guidance is the right call, momentum is starting to build now.

Today felt much better.
Weight 103.9kg
BP 87/50
Had clearance from my GP to lift light in the gym.
Did very light bench to 42.5, flys at 7.5kg. 16 sets but it felt great to be back in. Back workout tomorrow.
Cardio went up to 600m easily today at an incline. 700m tomorrow.
Everything is going easily and smooth so far, even had my diuretic halved, so I will watch this closely.
Menu today:

Meal 1: 2 slices wholemeal toast P4 C18 F2 Cal 109
20g blue cheese P6 C1 F8 Cal 141
half an avocado P2 C9 F15 Cal 160
2 eggs fried P14 C2 F14 Cal 200
62g smoked Salmon P15 C0 F4 Cal 96

Meal 2: Beef Burrito Bowl P33 Cal 917
Meal 3: chicken wings P32 C6 F23 Cal 432

Most of the rest of my food came from grapes, blood oranges and tangerines today as it was what I felt like.

No pics today as everytime I rembered the meal was half eaten 🫣

Good to hear you’re cleared and easing back in, even light bench and flys feel like a win after being held back. Weight and BP look stable, halving the diuretic is another positive sign things are moving the right way. Cardio ramping steady with no issues is the right pace, and food looks balanced with protein spread well across the day. You’re doing it smart, keep stacking days like this. :D

Another day and a little more progress.

Weight holding at 104.5kg with BP at 109/69 and pulse 74 is great, even better considering you halved the diuretic. Back work was light but clean, moving through rows and pulldowns without issues is the right approach right now. Cardio steady to 700m shows you’re staying active while managing recovery. Menu looks balanced too, plenty of protein from salmon, fish, beef and eggs with enough carbs and fats to keep energy up. :D
BIG BIG EVO family love and support your way, love your meals. @Kopite67

presses moving from 10s up to 17.5s is solid work, shoulders will come up nice with that plus the laterals. calves on 35 for 8s will keep them growing if you keep stacking that up over time. cardio looks light but it’s a good add in after that superset circuit. food is decent, that salmon and eggs breakfast is a strong start, sausages and pasta salad keep the calories coming in, and chicken pasta rounds it out well. blue cheese and avo give some fats too so you’re covered. test e pin is consistent, no issues second week is exactly what you want. :D

Weights are very light and mostly getting a feel for how my body reacts to the slight load. So far it's been excellent. BP never spikes post workout and pulse rate drops into good (60-75bpm) range quickly, albeit still irregularly.
Cardio is moved up 100m per day till I get to a km, then I increase the speed up to 4.5 (.1 per day) then its 100m up to 2km. Speed again after that.
Food will get a protein push up next week to go with a little more effort exercise wise.
TRT will not change for a couple of months until some of the meds are reduced.
Once they decide on how they are tackling the AF and irregular HR then I can push a bit more.
I am totally impatient and it is only the first week post hospitalisation so I am fighting the urge to go a lot harder than I am.

for just a week out of hospital you’re handling it right, weights light and cardio building in small steps is the way to go. bp and pulse responding well after training is a good sign, irregular rhythm will settle once the docs sort the af plan.
protein bump next week lines up perfect with easing the work up, no need to rush it. impatience is normal but staying steady now will let you push harder later without setbacks. :D

Take it easy, slow steady progress. Don't be in a rush. I know you said you're getting impatient but I think at this point patience is the most important thing of all.

@Kopite67 awesome work right here! Food is looking great!

Today started ok,
Weight was 104.9kg, same as day before
BP was all over the place this morning and breathing was a bit more difficult but that revelation would come later.
Cardio was done early for 900m.
GP visit was a bit of a revelation:
Diuretic was increased again as more fluid was on my lungs again.
I need a Cardiologist to get the medications right as the AF has been long term enough to weaken the heart muscles to the point that congestive HF is now the prognosis. Nothing changes in what I need to do but now the cards are fully laid out on the table.
A step back after a few days going 2 steps foward.
No training today, just did not have the energy.

Menu,
Meal 1: 2 slices wholemeal toast P4 C18 F2 Cal 109
20g blue cheese P6 C1 F8 Cal 141
half an avocado P2 C9 F15 Cal 160
2 eggs fried P14 C2 F14 Cal 200
74g smoked Salmon P17 C0 F5 Cal 102
Meal 2 : Sausage Roll,
Meal 3: Hamburger

Let's just say today was rough and leave it there.
Still live life you way Evo Fam, YNWA 🤍

I could destroy all that food 🤤😂

Brother progress and recovery isnt directly lineal. Dont be to hard on yourself 2 good days over one not so good is a positive and progressive ratio is it not? Your only just out of hospital and already back in there, so be kind to yourself go slow, good things take time. 🤜🏼🤛🏼🤍💪

tough update but respect for being straight about it, getting the full picture with the heart means you can tackle it head on with the right meds and care. no shame in skipping training when energy’s not there, health comes first and the gym will wait. meals started strong with the salmon, eggs and avocado, that’s quality fuel, the roll and burger aren’t ideal but on a rough day it’s about getting something in. keep steady with what the docs set, one foot forward at a time, and you’ll keep moving. :D EVO family support and love your way! @Kopite67

Feeling less "reflective" today. Feel significantly better in my overall breathing today. Training is definitely on and plan is coming to fruition as well. Larger log this evening. 🙂

Hi Evo Fam,
After a challenging few days, I have decided to take a 2 week logging hiatus to fully process and reset into this new reality I find myself in.

Look after yourselves Evo Fam 🤍 see you in a bit.
Take the break you need, resetting for a couple weeks will do more good than forcing it. We’ll be here when you’re back and ready to log again, focus on yourself first. EVO family love your way :D don't give up come back to us! @Kopite67

Little by little a win is a win

So 2 weeks turned into 2 months.
When I took a break from logging I was in a state of transition from being perfectly fit to perfectly fucked in a very short period of time. I am not going to say I handled it well either mentally or physically because quite honestly I didn't.
I had a number of diagnosis and possibilities thrown at me for weeks and it was only after I went through a barrage of tests, scans and appointments with a Cardiac and a Respiratory specialist did things finally come to light and a plan forward was made.
It felt like an eternity but in reality without the medical specialists I had doing what they do best it couldn't have been sorted any faster than it was.
So, what was actually wrong and how did it happen so fast?
It was an extreme Covid viral infection. This manifested into Myocarditis and attacked my heart, Pneumonia and then Pulmonary Interstitial Fibrosis that attacked my lungs at the same time.
Things did get quite dire at one stage, however with great care, brilliant specialists, a well laid out plan and many years of keeping myself in pretty good condition, I will be 100% better early next year and probably fitter than ever.
I have a few courses of medication to still go through, but TRT has been approved, and started, 2 weeks ago so the light is now blazing at the end of the tunnel.
Training is back on track, diet will improve (it is Christmas after all), and a new plan will be made with January the starting point.
This log was really short but served a purpose so I will start a new one up shortly and draw a line under these events and simply move on. Have a great Christmas all and I look forward to interacting with you all again in 2026.

Yeah all good mentally now brother. Wasn't for a bit and I was an awful patient. The loss of my own perception of what my identity was in such a sudden manner was a shock that I was not prepared for. However, I was surrounded by a bunch of awesome people who dragged me back from the abyss and kept me sane.

Omg bro..I was wondering where you went. Thank god you're ok!!! Hear a lot of young guys losing their lives cuz of that same issue. Thats seriously scary...man this is great news that you're on the mend. Thank god for those specialists!!! Thanks for checking and really really happy to hear your ok now!!

Bro I had Myocarditis - what a fucking nightmare of an illness that was- I feel for you man, scariest time of my life, and not many doctors understand it either. Glad your back doing well
Isn't it just. My Cardiologist was on it straight away and that's what saved me. Glad you obviously came through yours as well. Behind me (ish) so moving on now to much, much better things.

Yes @LevButlerov I am very close. I have a gradual reduction in a corticosteroid for my lung inflammation to March and the ceasing of a few others in early 2026 but for all intents and purposes I am passed it. Training is back at nearly full tilt and I am regaining strength rapidly. TRT is working very nicely and my BP and HR are back in elite levels (112/57 and 46). I have 2 specialists and a GP who are amazed and ecstatic at my progress. My heart is totally clear and my arteries are those of a 35 year old (I'm 58). Lungs will be 100% by Feb or March. This will be the first time ever now we know of my severe grass pollen allergy which we mitigate. I am back better, wiser and very motivated 💪 😁
