how much tirzepatide for fat loss?

I’m currently 330 lbs and my goal is to lose about 80 or 90 lbs. I was thinking about using Tirzepatide and starting at around 2.5 mg a week, then increasing the dose to 3.5 mg a week and then settling at 5 mg the rest of the way. I’ll do it every 4 weeks where I increase the dosage by half a milligram. Do you think this is a sound strategy?

Yes that’s a sensible and conservative approach for tirzepatide, starting at 2.5 mg weekly and pyramid slowly every 4 weeks but I would try retatrutide as well

🏆 Best for Muscle Preservation (GLP-1 class)

🥇 Tirzepatide > Retatrutide

Tirzepatide is better for preserving lean mass in real-world bodybuilding use.

Why ⬇️

1. GIP = Muscle-Protective

Tirzepatide activates GIP, which:

Improves nutrient partitioning

Enhances insulin signaling in muscle

Helps shuttle calories toward muscle instead of fat

Retatrutide also has GIP, but its added glucagon activation increases energy expenditure, which can:

Raise calorie burn

Increase risk of lean tissue loss if intake isn’t tightly controlled

👉 More aggressive fat loss = higher muscle loss risk

---

2. Rate of Weight Loss Matters

Tirzepatide → slower, more controlled fat loss

Retatrutide → faster, harsher deficit

Fast drops in scale weight = greater chance of:

Strength loss

Flat muscles

Reduced training performance

For body recomposition, slower is better.

---

3. Clinical Lean-Mass Data

Across GLP-1 studies:

~20–30% of weight lost is lean mass unless countermeasures are used

Tirzepatide shows a better fat-to-lean loss ratio than older GLP-1s

Retatrutide data is still early and not optimized for athletes

---

🧠 Bodybuilder-Specific Verdict

Goal Best Choice

Preserve muscle Tirzepatide
Extreme fat loss Retatrutide
Strength retention Tirzepatide
Training performance Tirzepatide
Safer long-term use Tirzepatide

---

🔒 How to MAXIMIZE Muscle Preservation (This Matters More Than the Drug)

Regardless of which you use:

✅ Non-Negotiables

Protein: 1.0–1.2 g per lb of lean mass

Lift heavy (do NOT switch to cardio-only)

Avoid crash deficits (>25% calories)

Electrolytes + sodium (GLP-1s deplete these)

🚫 What Causes Muscle Loss on GLP-1s

Eating too little protein

Skipping meals entirely

Losing weight too fast

Dropping training volume

---

⚠️ Important Reality Check

Neither tirzepatide nor retatrutide is anabolic. They do not build muscle—they only help you diet.

Muscle preservation comes from:

Training

Protein

Hormonal environment

(Which is why enhanced users generally tolerate GLP-1s far better than naturals.)

---

✅ Final Answer (Plain English)

For muscle preservation during fat loss:

> TIRZEPATIDE is the better choice.

Retatrutide may burn more fat, but tirzepatide protects muscle better, performs better in the gym, and is more forgiving if calories dip too low.

2.5mg wk is the correct starting dose.
This is the proper dosing schedule. You don't have to bump up every 4 weeks if your still feeling the effects. The important thing is to stay at a dose for a minimum of 4 weeks so you don't have any gut issues.

Usually, the first month or two, you'll have the worst side effects from Tirzepatide. That's why it's a good idea to start with a lower dosage, maybe 1-1.5 mg/week would be good.

Great explanation here bro 👍

A lot of people are choosing to microdose things these days, especially with these peptides, so with Tirzepatide you'll see them injected every other day instead of weekly.

Make sure you use Umbrella. They are an excellent source for the high-quality peptides. They are really good, and they work fast.
