I started lifting this week and I would like to ask you guys what of the following supps is the best for recovery after work out:

BCAA
BETA-ALANINE
NITRIC OXIDE
CITRULLIN

Those are the names that come up in the magazines I have read and just want to read from real users about it.

I havent honestly noticed anything what so ever from using bcaa's. When your taking AA's you already recover extremely fast, i personally was using bcaas and glutamine powder, stopped using them due to price and didnt notice any difference in recovery. If you are natty, it might be worth your while, just for piece of mind, but i really dont see the need to pay70$ for some powders that dont really make a noticeable difference in comparison to AA's.

For your case, if you have the money to go about using bcaas, then you might aswell because it will only benefit your situation, assuming you are still natural. Bcaas do have studies to back up there claims. Diet is most important though. If you do not feed your body with the correct nutrients you wont recover efficiently anyway, so make sure you have protein, carbs, calories, healthy fats. Food will do more for you than any supplement you can buy.

Out of all those supplements, the best choice BY FAR is BCAA. BCAA is the branch chained amino acids L-leucine, L-valine and L-isoleucine.

The branch chained amino acid L-leucine directly signals protein synthesis through the mtor pathway. It is best to take BCAA before and after each training session to benefit from the increase protein synthesis stimulation.

The branch chained amino acids are also extremely anti-catabolic which makes them great to take before cardio, especially when doing fasted cardio.

Just make sure to read the ingredients carefully because a lot of the flavoured BCAA products on the market have a lot of added sugar and carbohydrates per serving. This will blunt the fat loss response that you would of gotten from the cardio other wise. I personally use the capsulated BCAA product gear from n2bm.com.

The best supplemental combo is BCAA, creatine, and whey protein. It is best to get half of your daily creatine dosage half an hour before working out, the BCAA during the workout itself, and then right after the workout use the other half of your creatine mixed with whey protein. This combo will give you both the energy needed to train hard, and at the same time it will improve your recovery. However, you must get good quality supplements in order for that to happen, since there are many poor quality supplements that have a bunch of unnecessary shit in them, which in the end is even counterproductive.

The highlighted ones are usually taken preworkout, to give you extra boost and pump at the gym.

As for BCAA's, they should help with recovery with proper timing and consumption

Being so new to the game...you really don't need all these fancy supplements. What you do need is quality whole foods. Eating a good meal post workout is what's best for your recovery.

here is one nobody has mentioned. SLEEP

you want to recover? sleep. my best gains in my life were in my very late 20's when i would lift in the morning.. come home and nap for 2 hours.. then go to work. then i would sleep a solid 8 hours at night.. so all that sleep is when my body grew. i changed my body permanently during those years

The best thing you can do is make sure you are eating a diet that is clean and has 1g of protein per lb of body weight. Eating enough protein is key to recovery. BCAA are an amazing supplement when it comes to recovery as well. Steve mentions sleep which is the most important factor. You need to let you body heal. When you sleep, this is the time the body is repairing itself.
