Aesthetics or Mass?

I'm sure he won't and any other ignorant weight lifter who doesn't consider their health or safety.

KRAZIEONE

So in your narrow but all-knowing lens of strength training, the ONLY style that is acceptable is the one that you do?

Essentially Powerlifting - Bad, Krazie - Good?

Ya. I agree with you to a point. With that kind of weight at any moment the tensile strength of his muscles or ligament and the dons cud give. He shudnt be doing that solo. I seen too may guys drop a bar on themselves be a use they pushed to hard with no safety net.

KRAZIEONE

their soft tissues are grass when they get older. its all part of the game. all that bone on bone rubbing has to hurt

tennis players playing on concrete usually have no cartilage left in their ankles for that reason.. I play tennis with some older guys who have told me the doc said their cartilage is gone from years of tennis

430 strict military is unheard-of.

Man in the early 90's while I was in the Corps a buddy of mine blew up, was doing seated behind the neck presses with 455 for 10 f'ing reps. Crazy!!!! But I witnessed it. There r some strong ass mofos out there!!!

And to stay on track with the thread, he was a mass hog, yet shredded under his oversized sweats!!!!

Narrow? Lol. OK. No. I definatly don't have it all figured out or ever will. What I do know though is safety and health shud always come first. Just like the guy I see at the gym benching 350# and turning red to purple cause he a moron trying to show off. When he doesn't even know how to breath properly. I don't know about you, but I plan to take every precaution, know my limits and expand them smartly and cautiously because I plan to not do this forever and would like to be able to walk around Disneyland with my grand children when I'm 60 without a fucking walker or a oxygen machine. Everyone wants to live in the now and they don't use the most important muscle. So ya I guess I'm narrow minded I prefer to call it focused. And focus is always going to be on safety and longevity not ego shit so I can tell my bro bros I squat 485 and bench 425 for no fucking real reason just cause I want to. But that's just me. Its not for everyone. But if you are going to do crazy shit the you shud have sane people helping you so you don't kill or Mame yourself.

KRAZIEONE

I'm not picking on anyone. I offered a challenge because you challenged me saying I don't look like Ryan Reynolds. So why not out your ego where your mouth is. Lol.

KRAZIEONE

You don't look like Ryan Reynolds.

Ryan Reynolds is good looking and you're ugly.

:) lol.

Oh for sure. I agree. I just always try to keep in the realm of what I'm capable of. Cause life u really live it from 50-70. Not 30-50

I like to see these guys pushing this heavy weight! I knew quite a few power lifters when I was in high school back in the 90's and one of them being my best friend - these guys are big and not very defined - but Lord the strength is downright impressive. Could I do that? Only if I want to go the hospital and crap my intestines out but I sure as hell enjoy watching these huge wilder beasts blast 400lbs+

lol at ledhead - walked out pissed to high heaven huh - I totally know the feeling - massive hill ride last night - tren cought up to me one guy actually out climbed me on a serious long 12% road.

Aesthetics for me. Just fits my body type better. I was 233 this morning after taking a piss, standing at 6'4" and around 11-12% bf. Goal is to be in the single digits for bf, weight isn't very important to me. Any competition I do will be with the big boys due to my height and weight, so I stopped focusing on that. But I will admit I do love seeing that scale go up while my bf is staying the same or dropping :)

His form didn't look bad to me for the weight he was pushing. A slight bend at the knee for hip drive? But I agree those are not the definition of a strict press.

Most guys can't strict press 135.
I'll admit I'm an ohp natzy lol. To me it was the original strenght movement...it and the dead lift. I ohp strict...now I push press to increase my 1 rep max ohp. To me he had a lot of drive to get through his sticking points. If that's his "strict" press then I'm curious what his push press looks like. Agreed most can't do their own BW in ohp strict. But the old schoolers did 1.5 to 2 x BW

Nick trigili doesn't even do that as he's been up to 335 lbs

And I'm not impressed at all. That guy is a fat fuck, whose cholesterol is probly thru the roof. Eats like shit and will probly die of a heart attack soon or probly drop that stupid shit on himself one day when his pec snaps like a rubber band with no spotter and kill himself. Again not impressed.

KRAZIEONE

So what if he diets down and looks awesome? It's been done. Lee Priest did/does it all the time. Goes from big fat gut to 4%.

Look up Dave Tate. His best lifts are a 935 squat, 740 deadlift, a 610 bench, and a 2,205 total.

too bad you're not a spelling Nazi. :D

That being said shows u, outside of competition BB OR PL, there r some phenoms out there competing with themselves. Nick's young, muscle maturity just not there yet.

Bro, I know you've been to some BBing shows. The biggest guys by far are in the audience.

Well said. It amazes me when guys want really low Bf. I hate it. My skin is paper thin and it's like my skin is wrapping my muscles.

10-12% I still have abs. I can lift heavy and I look bigger (in my opinion). Plus my diet doesn't have to be insanely strict. Plus 10-12% bf easy ideal because You won't need to prep for so long for a show!
I think its interesting how some people can get popped out, definitive abs when they are 12%. Damn if I could do that I WOULD DO THAT. For me thou they dont start to show untill sub 10. Even then....they never gett 8 pack ripped. For me to get that kind of look I would probobly have to get down to sub 5%. I think abs are mostlly genetic meaning some are luckier than others.

Ceo did u just go Dave Tate. Been following him for what seems like forever. Since the beginning of DEEPSQUATTER.COM and STRENGTHONLINE AND THEIR ARCHIVES!

Damn so much of how I lift is right there. Thx for the trip down memory lane.

I've always liked Dave and Louie. :) But I've been doing DC since 2007 and I just can't see training any other way. I just wish I could be more consistent lately. :(

as men we generally store our last fat deposits in our stomachs. not sure why but i'm sure it has something to do with the way we evolved.

Fat stores in our stomach region because that's the first place its absorbed from the body. Thru the stomach it stores nutrients closest first. And let's them go from there last.

KRAZIEONE

All men store fat predominately on their stomach and lower backs. The difference between guys who have abs at 12-15% are just genetically pre-dispositioned to store more visceral fat; the guys who don't have abs until 6-8% are genetically pre-dispositioned to store more subcutaneous fat.

I'm right there with you bro. I'm on my 4th year of DC, and I have found no reason to train any different. It works incredibly well for me, so I see no reason to change that

I'm going for aesthetics. I'm 6'3 and 227lbs @ 15% bf. Looking to put on lean mass in my next cycle.

View attachment 2771this is what I want to look like lol
LOL.....its funny. I remember when I was younger and thinking to myself, "Who would want to look like those guys on magazines. They are TOO BIG AND RIPPED." Its funny how our perception changes now that we are in the game. I am still of the opinion that there is a fine line between what is astheticly appealing and ROIDED OUT. I remember at one point during my cycle people were giving me looks...but they were not the good kind. It was if I was some freak walking down the street.

I love that look bro it's what I live for lol the double takes! I rennet when I lost my first fight in high school as a freshman I new I needed to get bigger that summer I hit the wights

That's Arron Clark dude looked 30 when he was 23 at 2012 nationals when he got his pro card waist looks bad tho real bad

Aesthetics for sure , but strenght aswell. Been doing DUP training with mainly powerlifting. So I gained a bit of strenght while I'm on while cutting

More going for aesthics..with strenght gainz. At this point in my life I only want very lean mass, targeted mass.
I am 5'11, 36yo. Need to get my bf check since dropping 35lbs.

98da6f4c839cebbd6c1a96a69a6cbc64.jpg

Week 1 and Week 38. 225lb to 195lb. Alot of hard work and all my lifts went up during this time (475 squats, 340 bench, 435 dead) so I want to keep getting stronger but not stray too far from my current look.

Very impressive transformation, bro! Nice work

Thanks double R. Lost 6 inches on my waist. Trying to track down a body pod to get my bf measured.

I want to increase my strenght gradually as to not put on too much mass to fast. It will be difficult but I like a good challenge.

About 210@7% is my end goal. At 5'9" I really don't want to be bigger than that. That's 20lbs from where I'm at now, so I'm hoping to get to that in the next few years slowly and steadily. After that I plan to quit blasting, and just cruise. I'll probably be about 45 by then, and a good time to stop the higher doses

MT is already glomming on the new girl... Shocking.

those are impressive stats bro

I can't help but think you waiting to juice till a late age has led you to really understand what works for you both with training and diet .. its amazing the diff it can make

yeah you had a lot of mass on you in that 2nd pic and cleaned it all up in the after pic and you look great .. that is very impressive that your lifts went up even after cutting down like that. it can be done but its not for the impatient person

Go all Lee Priest Bra!!!!!

thought I read somewhere that a huge majority of all pro bodybuilders started out powerlifting. it makes perfect sense to build up a base of white muscle fibers and then later on in life switch over to red and really shred up

White??? Care to elaborate? See NASM pt text book says nothing about white and red fibers. That's why even though I'm proud of my cert, it's only a small piece of the science behind fitness. And much of what we have to learn is not that important.

white and red muscle fibers... just like in running how sprinters are one sided and endurance are the other... same thing in lifting.. powerlifters vs. bodybuilders. red vs. white fibers

Never heard fast twitch and slow twitch fibers had colors. Not saying your wrong jus never heard them. Referred to as colors.

slow = red = type 1... fast= white = type 2

they once opened up a powerlifters body and looked at his muscles and they were 95% white muscle fibers. now we can debate whether he was genetically born with those fibers or if he over time through powerlifting developed those fibers... we probably will never know (unless they were to open you up when you are born lol)

but that would explain why some guys excel in 1 area, and some excel the other..

You are making a fast twitch slow twitch muscle comparison but in regards to white and red muscle fibers

KRAZIEONE

Lol...come on Steve going too far for da bro's.
Yes they can appear as different colors depending on glycolytic and/or oxidataive states...
Like this:
Type I (slow twitch oxidative), red in color
Type IIA (fast twitch oxidative glycolytic), red in color
Type IIX (fast twitch glycolytic), white in color

Oh ok. I guess we'll never see the colors lol hopefully.
