What a start to the Aussie day long weekend

Went out for a Boys day Thursday, bit of a catch up with the lads and a fish. Weather said it was blowing 25knots but we still went anyway in a 4x4 convoy.

First cast absolute bullet sstraight out 70mtrs and by the time I flicked the bail the rod bent over, Yes the bite was hot ! what a session 3 hours of hectic madness , screaming and hollering and smiles all around. I lost count at 20, we kept a few with rest going back and stopped once the bait ran out.

Bit windy to camp on the beach so headed inland, everyone was in a great mood, got the bbq cranking and a couple of the boys opened up on current troubles.

Came away feeling so grateful for this life, a healthy family, healthy relationships and a calm mind. Make sure you check in on your boys , some of them are going through hell and just need a show of support.

Then best till last, Get back home and some EVO merch was waiting for me 😍😍😍
Absolutely love it

@Freki we call those fish bluefish where I'm at. They migrate down south during the colder months. I saw a bunch of them last weekend caught. They are really fun to catch but they are considered a nuisance because they destroy everything with their sharp teeth.

Nice catch bro. I was staring to wonder where you went. What kinda fish are those?

Still can't believe in a nanny state like AUS they let you take your trucks on the beach. We're just slightly less of a nanny state here in Canada but you'd get in shit doing that here.

Shirt looks great on you!

Here we call them Choppers

Yeah these are more targeted for sport, good on the chew but you have to eat them fresh , turn to mush if you freeze them

Ha ha nah still a nanny state, not allowed to camp on the beach but your allowed to fish all night, so you just leave your rods out while your eyes are closed.
Like pigsy said called Choppers or proper name Tailor because they bite the tails of everything. You'll also see heaps of seagulls with only 1 leg. They float in the water and the tailor come up and bite em off 🤣🤣

@Freki Bros, those fish must have some big teeth then to bite off things like that. Seems like they try and eat birds

for me its cat food.

I like these fish. Anything that takes out seagulls is good in my books lol.

Sleeping with the rods out is hilarious.

Up here we're not allowed to have fires in our backyards unless you're cooking something. So if we have a fire we just throw a hot dog on stick

for me its cat food.
There's technique involved to care for the fish, so straight away Ike Jime , then slice the gill veins, bury head first and let bleed out for 5mins, scale and gut them and straight into a ice slurry.

Delicious!!! Turns a 2 star fish into 4 star eating, and fussy kids loved it.

We have total fire bans in summer and for good reason, it gets bloody dry and if the winds are up its very hard to stop fire from spreading. Even have harvesting bans , farmers aren't allowed to drive in paddocks in case the vehicles cause a fire.

Absolutely man. Some people love that darker meat and it definitely can be cooked a certain way to make it edible. A lot of rednecks where I live, they literally just fry the fish in oil so no matter what kind of fish they fry, it's going to taste the same.

You can tell that it's windy out there. What other fish do you catch? @Freki I bet you have to use a heavy weight when it's that windy.

5 or 6 oz Sputnik sinker works well or a 8 oz pyramid sinker. I use to do a lot of fishing , not so much now. And the government have recently banned boat fishing so really limited in what to target nowadays.

That's good that you bleed them out and cut their throat as soon as you catch them. It's less suffering for the fish and it makes the meat taste way better. @Freki

Yea bro year round here in the city. Even though live on the outter edge the rules still apply out here.

Rural towns you can have fires but not in a city, unless you got a hot dog and stick lol.

We got fire bans too when it's dry. Even for dirtbiking we're not allowed to ride without spark arrestors.

That's pretty cool stuff. I had to look up what a sputnik sinker was. I didn't even know those things existed but it's pretty cool. As an engineer I got a lot of respect for whoever invented that.

Touchdown incoming 😍
@Freki my brother! I just got caught up on your log and it's a super fun log bro. Lots of gym rat combined with big fish! I can't wait to follow your journey to the stage I'm really pumped that you're going this route.

With mct I struggle with bad pip and inflammation a few days after injection.
Funny how everyone is different I love MCT and find it super smooth

Interested in the GHK-CU. Was going to jump on this band wagon also! What you hoping to get out of it?
@LH5515 For me the GHK has reduced my wrinkly lower belly fat skin (spot injecting) from losing so much weight and it's noticeably thickened my hair, people have commented.

Yeah no ring , I never felt comfortable with it on,
And here I wear skull rings and family crest rings on both hands hahaha
Definitely not fruity to me if the guy can pull it off

so you just leave your rods out while your eyes are closed.
Ok now this was funny!

Teeth are sharp not big but this is how big they get , cause some damage at this size
Jesus is it normal to catch one this size?

Cheers bro,
Primarily rest and ibuprofen. I had an ablation in around April last year , so if it gets real bad ill book in for another. All good so far which is why I skipped hypers just to make sure its calmed down.

Cheers mate, consistency is just so important , very good progress if I can keep that up.. Its normally around now 4 weeks in that I start getting warn out. Gotta say I think only doing 1 top set is doing wonders on keeping fatigue at bay. I dont feel as satisfied but small trade off to keep consistent and uninjured / warn out.

Yea staying healthy and well recovered is so key.

So what's the new strategy? 1 set total failure and 2 with a few RIR?

I can't remember exact numbers, but there was a study that showed if you get within like 3 reps to failure the you can expect something like 95% of the gains. Its been a while so I forget the exact numbers but I now that's the theory behind RIR training

2 warm up sets which focus on form and mind muscle connection. I do around 50% and 75% the weight of the top set on bigger muscles , on the smaller muscles calves biceps etc its like 75% 90% then top set to failure

And aiming for between 8-12 reps on top set , when I hit 11-12 reps I up the weight the next week

Comparing it to last blast is crazy, I was doing 2- 3 times more volume , and after a few weeks needing extra rest days inbetween to try keep up

Awesome :) yeah the high volume definitely drives up the systemic fatigue fast. I only do 2 working sets per exercise but I think that once you begin to master a movement, you don’t need a lot of volume to achieve stimulus. Once form & tempo are standardised, 1-3 quality sets taken to failure or thereabouts begins to feel like a lot 🤣 makes progressive overload more straightforward too, because cardiovascular endurance doesn’t become the limiting factor

Almost sounds counter intuitive lift less to build more 🤣 I was so fatigued that sleep was brutal just couldn't get the CNS to turn off.

sausage egg burger looks tasty and high protein :D I want it now @Freki hammys destroyed

Comparing it to last blast is crazy, I was doing 2- 3 times more volume , and after a few weeks needing extra rest days inbetween to try keep up
So no warm up warm up sets, just 2 lightish build up sets then 1 max set?

That's pretty interesting. Must save time too.

Being able to stay training consistently like you have is so clutch. I usually run a periodization program and build week on week but cuz I was on Tren I said fuck it and just started taking every set to failure lol..then I got sick. Maybe that's where I went wrong haha

What would you call a warmup set?

Yeah Time is big difference, but also getting the form right at a lighter weight and setting the connection 👌

I can see the difference in the approach, I was always a 3set 1rir man and it worked. Im enjoying this now and being the wrong side of 40 it helps to not burn out.
Hopefully its another consistent month.

But I think your like me, love to abuse the body, it is more satisfying taking it to far lol 😆

Yea you nailed it. Love beating myself up in the gym. But like you said, once you're 40 you gotta start training smarter or you pay the price. I forget that now and again lol

I usually do a 12/8/4 rep 50/75/90% max weight warmup at the beginning of each bigger muscle group. For arms and shoulders I usually just do a single warmup of 15 reps just to get some blood flow and feel out my mobility and strength for the day.

Sounds like your build up sets are basically working like a warmup right

Ahh yeah pretty much. I dont think they do anything for hypertrophy.
I wonder if we could get away with even less.
So build up sets on first exercise of the muscle then only a top set on next exercise?
30min gym sessions 😃 but could potentially do it 2x a day

Figuring out ways to decrease volume and improve recovery and then the first though is I could do 2x days then lol

Gluten for punishment haha

I always thought doing 2x day training would be so much fun. If I didn't have to work I'd definitely try to run a split like that. Having the spare energy and time it could be possible

Just be like a full time BB and do nothing but eat and train

Felt a niggle in right elbow so skipped single arm tricep pushdowns.

Overall good session, still very mindful of the shoulder, and taking progressions where I can.

Biggest meal of the day T bone, salad, and rice.
Grass fed, bush killed, lovely flavour!

You'll never go wrong with a meal like this. @Freki you've got your veggies, you've got your fruits, you've got your protein, and you've got your carbs. It's an all-in-one meal.

Thanks @stevesmi
Bugger I didn't think off that , bone went in the bin. Next time for sure, good suggestion
another option too is to put the bone in the soil in your garden. It really works well when it comes to a natural fertilizer.

@Freki nothing beats a nice grass-fed steak. That's definitely something that would melt in my mouth.

One day @LevButlerov 🤣 still a few weeks out, it was dips that screwed the shoulder first time around , so taking my time
Definitely I think dips screw up the shoulders more than what people think. It's really tough and puts a lot of pressure on them. @Freki

Im playing around with it at the moment on the assisted, just trying to find comfortable positions. I know when I injured it there was no warning at all it just pinged and tore.
I'll back off then :P I forgot the dips messed up the shoulder better not do them actually @Freki
