Veteran Log TRT and Recovery Log - with PuritySourceLabs

The new med they prescribed has nearly stopped the racing heart rate. The only down side to that is getting my heart rate where I want it during cardio. Oh well, I will take it.
what were the meds? @BigD9795

As soon as the afib started, they out me on blood thinner Xarelto and anti-arrhythmia med called Diltiazem.
That's serious.

I’ll get past this like everything else. It’s just a bump in the road. I’m looking into a device called Inspire for apnea. Might be an option if the APAP thing doesn’t work.
Lets see if it works, are you choking in sleep? @BigD9795

OK, it's been a few days since I posted. Not much new going on in my world. This week I have been really taking the workouts pretty light. Allowing plenty of rest time between lifts. Trying to let things settle down before the surgery Thursday morning. I will say that since I started my de-load last week, my sleep (still riddled with apnea) has improved slightly and I am feeling better. Not so run down and out of gas. I hadn't had a de-load since last January I have been pushing myself so hard. This is telling me that perhaps too hard without de-loads to help the CNS to catch up. So learning something about myself every day. I know I needed this before surgery. That much is certain. Coach dropped my macros down starting yesterday by 90g carbs. That is tough to get used to. LOL I believe we are going to cruise with these macros through the initial recovery stage. With the weight staying up after we dropped to TRT levels, I know my chronic fatigue from sleep and raised cortisol levels are not helping. But I do know we need to get the weight to start trending down. water weight or not, I don't want to stay at 237# for long. This macro drop should start to correct this. The only thing that makes me nervous is the total lack of being able to exercise for a while and especially without any real intensity. So the road back to getting the physique back to a leaner state, may take a little longer and be rough as well. It is pretty damn hard to being used to eating 465g carbs and dropping to 350g. I was very used to having that food volume. So I will be getting strategic with what I eat and when I eat it. In particular spacing out the more dense food options to try and stay satiated better. Being a former fatty and this will be the first time I have had to be inactive. It makes me nervous. Getting bored is the worst thing ever for a recovering food addict. So the mental part of this recovery will be much harder than the physical. I just have to fins a way to gut it out and try to push to get the recovery to go as fast as possible so I can regain my activity level and start burning off the little bit of fat gain I had from my bulking cycle. It's not terrible. But I notice it some. So I hate that. But like I said, it's the inactivity that will really mess with my head. I will do everything in my power to stay positive and keep my ass out of the damn kitchen when i am getting bored or depressed from feeling like a slug from not doing anything. Tomorrow is the last day in the gym for a while. Going to enjoy every minute of it.

Good call pulling the deload before surgery, the better sleep and lower fatigue tell you the CNS needed that break and you timed it right.

Dropping from 465 g carbs to 350 g is a shock but it is the right move on TRT with forced inactivity.
The mental side is the real battle here but staying disciplined through this phase is a win, recovery first now and you'll lean out as things come back to full forget @BigD9795

So I decided to create a little swag to represent the brotherhood. What do you think my EVO brothers?

You're looking awesome @BigD9795 nice shoulders and big arms!

BigD in the house..... That is an absolutely dope tank, man I think this just took things up another level... 💯💯
That's how you represent a community...🤙
EVO family love for Team PSL @~Vision~ @PSL :D

I think you’re too kind. I look a lot more flat at TRT levels for sure. Plus no workout pump. 🤣
You look amazing :D keep it up and do what you can
EVO family love your way @BigD9795

Ok. I’ve officially started post-op recovery mode. They found a few surprises today. They went in expecting to repair 1 large hernia, and ended up having to repair 3 additional smaller hernias. 4 total. I’ve always said I don’t do anything half assed. I guess that applies others case too. 🤣

Pain is moderate right now. Pain meds are doing their thing but I think I’m going g to try to go to ibuprofen and Tylenol alternating every 4-6 hours. I can already tell I don’t want to get constipated from the pain meds. Things are pretty ok when I’m siting still. Them when I have to get up and do anything everything lights up where the repairs are. I’ll have to figure out how to not use the abs so much for a few weeks.

The one major upside to this recovery is that I will be able to sit still long enough to get caught up on all the podcasts and hear about all of the rock stars on our community. This will start tomorrow. 😁😁😁
listen to the podcasts latest with @Noah Wixx are the best :d @BigD9795

Happy Christmas Eve my EVO family! I haven’t posted in several days. Recovery from the surgery is going ok. I’ve been back at the gym since Monday. I walked for about 40 minutes on Sunday, 3rd day post op, and that went pretty ok. So I decided to start back at the gym Monday morning. I’ve walked for an hour each day since on the treadmill at 1 incline and 3mph. HR around 75-90. I’m off the pain meds and just managing discomfort with 800mg Ibuprofen every 7-8 hours. Been able to nap a lot which is helping me get caught back up in a little sleep even if it’s apnea sleep. I plan to ramp up the walking on the treadmill a little more each day. Just being mindful to not stress the 4 hernia repairs. So far I think it’s going as well as it could. Healing stack seems to be doing its thing. My stack is the following protocol:

IMG_3329.webp

My follow up with the surgeon is scheduled 01/06 and if all continues to progress like it has so far, I will press him for clearance to start working weight training back into the mix at about 25-35% of normal volume and see how that goes. He probably won’t clear me for that. We will see.

I hope all of you have a blessed time with your loved ones. Have a Merry Christmas!!!

have you considered getting the KLOW blend? its a mix of kpv, ghk, tb and bpc all in 1. or do you prefer to just take them together @BigD9795

Bros, I hope you have a good Christmas. I'm spending it with my in-laws. @BigD9795 they set up a table just for me there where I can sit and eat by myself. That's going to be fun.

@BigD9795 it's really amazing how far we've come with medicine that you can be up walking around like that and that you went through that type of surgery. That's great. I'm looking forward to seeing how you do on this healing stack.

I'm happy to see that you are coming out of the surgery with a positive mindset. This healing and recovery stack looks really solid. I'm sure you're going to get great results. @BigD9795

I’ve heard of the KLOW blend. It seems very pricey from what I’ve seen. That’s why I pretty much sourced them individually. It also allows me to adjust my doses how I like. It I’m not opposed to the blend. Just haven’t pulled the trigger mostly due to pricing.

I feel like the stack has been really enhancing the recovery. I’m excited to see what the surgeon has to say about my recovery at my two week follow up.

You get your own table! That’s awesome. Hey, embrace it, right? Hope you had a great time and a very merry Christmas.
Bros, yes, they gave me pretty much the scraps. They saved the good pieces of steak for themselves, but it's all good. That's how it is.
they cut out the good pieces of steak and i got the fatty or bone parts lol .. i don't mind i doing higher fat anyway right now

😳😁

Joke’s on them. lol. Used to, I went after the fattier pieces because that’s where the best flavor was. And one or two meals that are “relaxed” isn’t goi g to derail anything you’re doing. Unless you’re prepping for competition I suppose.

Steak is so damned expensive here that it’s a treat to get any kind of steak. But I stick to the lean steaks like sirloin. Works for me. 😁🤗

Bros, my wife's family is super rich. They can definitely afford the most expensive steak, so I'm not complaining. They rich Japanese businesspeople like multi-millionaires. My wife's dad owned a bunch of car washes all over California. Like every time you get your car washed, he pockets like $20.

@BigD9795 Glad the recovery is going well bro!

OK, EVO family. It’s been a minute since I posted. So, a quick update. I had my post op follow up visit yesterday. Surgeon said the repair site is looking great and that my recovery is going well and maybe a bit ahead of schedule. 😁 He seemed legitimately shocked when I told him I’d been walking a minimum of 3 miles a day on the treadmill and outside. Asked me if I had felt pain increasing. I said not a bit. And that was the truth. I came off the pain meds on day 3. I got clearance to start light weight training. Max of 25# unilaterally and upper body only for 2-3 more weeks. Depending on how I’m feeling. So I’ll say 2 weeks. Then I will slowly ease back into legs. Doc says that by week 12 I should be able to go 100%. Maybe week 10-11 if everything is really going well.

Folks, don’t sleep on BPC-157, TB-500, GhkCU, and KPV. I have no doubt they have played a critical role in my recovery going so well.

While activity is lower so are my macros bike consuming about 2650 calories a day and of course have been walking a ton. I started doing upper body today with post training elliptical for cardio since they cleared me to get back on the treadmill. I’m actually losing weight slowly. But a lot of that was also fluid. But the body is responding well. I think I’ll be back to 100% by week 10-11. That’s my goal.

Cheers!

Klow is an absolute game changer man, the list of benefits are unreal and I would think some we dont even realise about it yet

I can train upper body only. No legs right now. I have a max weight of 25# and have to do seated back/chest supported exercises. But that will progress every couple of weeks.
still training which is good :D post some training updates please @BigD9795

I just started a modified training routine around the surgeons limitations that have been set for the next 4 weeks. It's pretty boring, but it is what it is while I recover. It is better than just walking the treadmill for 3-4 miles per day.

I have built Upper A & B days that I will repeat 2 times per week for a total of 4 weight training days per week on upper body. The doctor says nothing lower body yet. I normally weight train 5 days per week, so for now the 5th day will be a moderate intensity cardio day. I will do 25-30 minutes LISS Cardio on every training day post-workout. I currently have a weight limit of 25# per arm. I have made a few exceptions early on because my primary rule is that the weight cannot cause me to engage my core/abs to anything more than a very minimal amount to protect the repair for now.

Global Rules - Per Surgeon

- Upper body only
- 25 lb max load
- Seated or chest/back supported only
- No core or ab involvement
- No bracing or breath holding
- RIR 3–4 minimum
- Stop any movement that engages core

Weekly Schedule

Mon – Upper A + Cardio
Tue – Upper B + Cardio
Wed – Active Recovery Cardio
Thu – Upper A + Cardio
Fri – Upper B + Cardio
Sat – Cardio Only
Sun – Rest / Light Cardio

Upper A – Chest / Shoulders / Triceps

Seated Chest Press – 3x12–15
Pec Deck – 3x15
Seated Lateral Raise – 3x15–20
Seated Shoulder Press – 3x12–15
Chest-Supported Triceps Extension – 3x12–15
Seated Single-arm DB Overhead Triceps – 2–3x12–15

Upper B – Back / Rear Delts / Biceps

Chest-Supported Row – 3x12–15
Seated Neutral-Grip Lat Pulldown – 3x12–15
Seated Rear Delt Fly (Pec Deck Machine) – 3x15–20
Seated DB Curl – 3x12–15
Preacher Curl Machine – 3x12–15

Cardio Protocol (No HIIT Cardio) (Everything LISS Cardio)

Training Days: 30 min treadmill or elliptical
Active Recovery Days: 20–30 min walk @ 0% incline
Saturday: Optional 45–60 min Elliptical

This will be the routine for the next 4 weeks until I get clearance to add more weights/intensity to my routine. I should be integrating legs slowly at week 6 and then gradually start adding in abs work at week 8. If all is going well, I will be getting to around 75-80% full intensity training. At week 12 I should be cleared to go full 100% training again. I am hoping to speed that timeline up a bit. We will see how it goes.

@BigD9795 good to see you spreading that Evo family love with the shirt. You're looking really good in it, man. The conditioning is outstanding.

Bros, I like the slow-paced cardio that you do. It's very good, low-impact, and it's easy on the joints. So that's smart that you're doing it. @BigD9795

Nice job on the training for sure. @BigD9795 you've got everything in a perfect synergy. I like how you're hitting the cardio consistently during the week.

It is very hard to resist the urge to push right now. But I am just going to have to give these repairs time to heal or I’ll be out a very long time and that would be miserable. It’s weird, I disnt lift any weights for two weeks and I start back with these light weights and I’m a little slow. But every thing I am doing is extremely isolated movements with zero leverage from the core. That and extremely slow eccentric and long pauses in the stretched position and will be working up to quite a few reps in each set. Or that’s the plan. As far as cardio goes I’ve been putting in a lot of steps since 4 days post op. Minimum of 3 miles per day. But im glad im cleared for elliptical. It’s much better for my joints. Plus it gets the heart rate up quicker. 😁

@BigD9795 looking really good on this. The conditioning is very impressive. All that cardio that you're doing and putting in the hours is very much paying off.

That's great that you're able to train around your injury. That just shows how dedicated you are. You are an absolute machine. @BigD9795

As per my comments elsewhere about my 16 week back issue I did nothing but gripper and rehab work until I was ready. It's a mere fraction of my life. Same for you
Truth. We will always have obstacles that come up. I think it’s all about doing what we can to address them and move forward in some kind of positive way. Slow and steady is better than the alternative.

Awesome news on the recovery going well. Good that you can still do some upper body stuff. Will be primed for some big gains once you can fully get back to it.

@BigD9795 really like the update man you’re making some great strides brother

Good afternoon, EVO fam! Thought I’d check in since it’s been a minute. I’ve been crazy busy with life. So an update on everything.

TRT: going great. At 140mg test, I’m sitting at 1034 total test levels. Still no AI and E2 is 44 I think. So, no issues there. I’m now about 10 weeks post blast and I feel great in terms of how the hormones are leveling out again. I will also, say that I felt amazing in cycle. Strength and drive was over the top. But I will say that I also didn’t recognize how amped I felt too. Like never relaxed I guess. This TRT cruise if going to do me wonders there as well especially since we’re still trying to get the sleep issues handled.

Sleep Issues: I had my third sleep study because I was diagnosed with Complex Sleep Apnea. Regular CPAP therapy was actually making things worse. So they used a special machine called an ASV BIPAP machine and we had great success with that. Now I’m fighting insurance to help me get the machine I need to successfully treat my diagnosis. I hope to get that in board soon.

Hernia Recovery: so last Thursday marked the end of 6 weeks Post Op. The incision site looks amazing. Even with 4 hernia repairs, I’m back to about 60% of where I was at with my training. I anticipate being back to my normal training routine and going 100% within the next 4-6 weeks. It will be nice to get back to regular training and intensity. I’ve been fortunate that at maintenance macros (2650 Calories) I’ve pretty much been at maintenance. Holding pretty steady at about 230 pounds. Once I’ve been back to normal training at 100% for about 2-4 weeks, the plan is to start transitioning into a cut and drop the fluff I picked up during my bulk. I’m thinking g about 10-15 pounds and see where I’m at. If I’m at 10% or less body fat, I’ll start planning my next cycle.

I’m thinking g about 10-15 pounds and see where I’m at. If I’m at 10% or less body fat, I’ll start planning my next cycle.
good to see you on TRT staying steady :D @BigD9795 test is high

on the sleep strange, and cpap worse strange?

@BigD9795 man, I was getting worried about you. We haven't seen much of you since you did the podcast but I'm great. I'm glad that you are back updating us. Very tough on the sleep problems, man, and I hope that you can get that resolved.

Bros, the insurance company is a pain in the ass. They don't want to cover anything that's useful I guess. Hopefully you fight them good and you win. @BigD9795

I got a lot of respect for you on this. @BigD9795 you've got some issues going on but you're working hard to resolve them. That's what I like to see. You're not just accepting it.

Yeah. It is all very strange. I’ve basically got a brand new CPAP/APAP machine that is useless to me now. $1200 down the toilet. Gonna try to sell it. I literally used it for a total of about 24 hours. Hoping to get things squared away with the new machine.

Bro, life in general has been crazy. A lot of personal stuff that I’m having to navigate. A few things that have me and the wife pretty stressed. Not with each other. But just adding it all up and most days I’m just worn out and come home and start winding down getting ready for bed hoping that I will get some sleep.

Yeah. You pay your premiums religiously and then when you need it, they’re always looking for ways to get out of paying or approving what the doctors say in the best treatment. They would rather you stay sick I guess and end up paying far more once you’ve been one so sick you have to be hospitalized. 😡🤷🏻‍♂️

I get it. Our pets are our kids. I have three older dogs and I know we won’t have them a lot longer. That in and of itself is stressful.
cats are tough. imagine having to give him a butt bath lol.. they hate that shit!

@BigD9795 it's not the same without you posting the EVO family loves you. I'm glad you gave us an update on the sleep and the hernia situation. The facts are these types of things are something we have to deal with in life.

The sleep issues and the hernia are really looking good. This is a great layout and you are never going to go wrong. Keep up the good work and keep the grind going. @BigD9795

100% fact. It’s all about learning how to either work around or work through them. It just takes time sometimes.

@BigD9795 looks like the trt is spot on with the rest levels. That’s great stuff

Wow. Sorry gents that I have been out a while. SO many things going on in my world. The healing form my hernia repair has gone very well. Probably the biggest issue for me has been getting my sleep issues and insomnia taken care of. That and work has had me incredibly busy along with a new granddaughter. The good news is that I get a new ASV Bipap machine this Thursday. I’m hoping g that this changes literally everything. This week at right at 12 weeks post op, I’m feeling good and will be getting back after it at 100% intensity. Couldn’t come at a better time. I picked up some additional unwanted weight just from not being as active as I wanted to be during recovery. But o know how to fix it.

This week is my 12 week mark. I started today with building the endurance back and training intensity near 100%. Checking out how the repair will handle the load. Great workout this morning. So far so good. I’m positive I’ll be nice and sore over the next couple of weeks. 🤣 But it will be a good kind of sore. Hates being out for this long, but I learned a lot about myself and also about how my body recovers. Especially with the sleep issues I have. But I get a new machine that should solve those issues. I hope and pray that it does because it would be nice to know what it feels like to train with good sleep.

Update.

Good morning EVO family. Some good stuff and a touch of bad. Almost back to 100% and think I pulled a muscle in my lower back on the right side. Took a day off to rest it and went back this morning. Felt pretty ok until the second exercise. It started trying to tighten back up. Finished the workout and back home on the heating pad. The heat is the only thing that really gives much relief at the moment. But this crap happens sometimes.

I got my new ASV Bipap machine and things are much better. Still getting used to it. But I think it’s going to be a game changer after a month or two of using it.

Have a great weekend everyone.
