Been lurking here for a while and have learned a ton just from reading through threads—really appreciate the knowledge in this community.

I’m planning what will technically be my second cycle starting next month and wanted to get some feedback before I start.

For context:
  • I’m currently on TRT (200mg Test Cyp weekly)
  • My last cycle was Test only, titrated up to 500mg over 16 weeks
  • This time I’m aiming for more of a recomp / lean gain phase and want to introduce Masteron
I’ve been training consistently for 15–20 years (on and off) and take performance and recovery seriously, but I’m always looking to refine things and learn.

  • ~2800 calories daily
  • 230g Protein
  • 305g Carbs
  • 71g Fats

Training

  • 5–6 day bodybuilding split
  • 5/3/1 strength work at the start of sessions, followed by hypertrophy/volume work
  • Generally high-volume training
  • LISS cardio 3–4x/week (30–45 min post-workout)

  • Mon: Shoulders / Biceps
  • Tues: Squat / Legs / Calves
  • Wed: Off
  • Thurs: Bench / Chest / Triceps
  • Fri: Deadlift / Back
  • Sat: Pump day + cardio (flexible)
  • Sun: Sports / activity

  • Is Anavar at 25mg worth running the full cycle or better shorter duration?
  • Any gaps in health support / supplementation?
  • Anything you’d adjust for better recomp vs just “drying out”?

For recomposition, Anavar (oxandrolone) and Masteron (drostanolone) both help with fat loss and lean muscle retention, but they shine in slightly different ways. Anavar is an oral DHT-derived compound that’s milder, promotes steady strength gains, enhances muscle hardness, and can improve nutrient partitioning without significant water retention—making it a solid, lower-side-effect option for gradual recomp. Masteron, on the other hand, is an injectable with stronger androgenic effects and mild anti-estrogen properties, leading to a drier, harder, more “grainy” look, especially at lower body fat levels. In short: Anavar is better for a smoother, more controlled recomp with fewer androgenic sides, while Masteron is better for aggressive hardening and aesthetics if you’re already relatively lean.
 
Hi guys, thanks for the feedback so far. Figured id post some physique pics to show my starting point this time around.

I think Back Width is my biggest opportunity to put on some lean tissue. I have decent thickness but i think my lats could definitely flare more. I think working lower lats and mid-back detail will definitely improve separation vs arms/delts (which im solid on). My focus for this cycle is going to be on working on lat and back width and legs (legs not lagging badly, but upper body definitely holds the edge for the moment) and emphasis on lean tissue gain (not bulk) .

Im entertaining the option of adding in 150-200mg of Primo to the stack to help with E2 control based on blood work so updated plan looks like this. Starting next week! let me know if anyone has any thoughts.

@Thad_Castle the testosterone and mast ratios seem to be differentiated depending on where you are. The guys in Australia seem to be a lot more sensitive to lower estrogen than the guys in North America. That's something to take into account and it's definitely something that I've been observing the past few years on here.

Nice lineup of what you're doing between the supplements, your goals, and asking for feedback. One of the things I would recommend, though, if you want feedback, is to dump the Gatorade; it's all garbage. Just drink some water. @Thad_Castle

I think your goals are very reasonable. @Thad_Castle I like how you didn't come out and say you wanted to gain a crazy amount of weight or turn into Arnold. I definitely think a lean recomp is something that will be challenging but you can definitely do it.

Hi guys, thanks for the feedback so far. Figured id post some physique pics to show my starting point this time around.

I think Back Width is my biggest opportunity to put on some lean tissue. I have decent thickness but i think my lats could definitely flare more. I think working lower lats and mid-back detail will definitely improve separation vs arms/delts (which im solid on). My focus for this cycle is going to be on working on lat and back width and legs (legs not lagging badly, but upper body definitely holds the edge for the moment) and emphasis on lean tissue gain (not bulk) .

Im entertaining the option of adding in 150-200mg of Primo to the stack to help with E2 control based on blood work so updated plan looks like this. Starting next week! let me know if anyone has any thoughts.

aaaaaannd... were off to the races.

Snapped a pic and wanted to share todays workout. Kicked things off with a high volume back day focusing on a lot of lat / width work which is one of my primary goals for the cycle.

Most days unfortunately i will be forced to run my cardio after my workout due to work and family responsibilities, but will be trying to get in morning fasted cardio when i can (after my GH).

I feel like we're off to a strong start.

Also mentioning that im removing alot of the heavy compound lifts from my programming for now and will plan to run a strength focused phase later on.

Diets on point and im a big believer in timing carbs around workout time.
