Use anti bacterial soap several times daily

I am so prone to acne and have dealt with it all of my life after puberty. I have a whole refining I use and will find the post and post it. I did take doctor prescribed Accutane and it completely cleared me up in about four to five months. I only had one side effect: chapped lips.
The easiest way to make the acne subside is to remove what’s causing it: the steroids.
I love the acne foaming wash from CeraVe. It is really good stuff. Remember, you never ever want to scrub acne…ever. I also use Fabior from my dermatologist. It’s generally not covered by insurance and costs roughly $600/month. The manufacturer has a $535 coupon on their website so it brings the cost down to $65. I only use it every other day now. It works wonders. One thing with Fabior is the acne generally gets worse for a period of two weeks or so because the medicine purges your pores. I spot treat acne with hydrocortisone to reduce swelling. There is no science behind this, I just think it helps me.
Cool water showers are much better than warm water showers. Also, acne HATES oxygen. I get a back facial from an aesthetician about every six weeks and she uses oxygen treatment. It’s a lot of work
I have had to stop using my steroids once because it got bad. Within ten to fifteen days the esters were clearing quickly and the acne subsided.

Here's what I do. I take a couple of approaches, together.

-Change sheets and pillowcases at least once every two weeks, once a week if possible

-Take morning shower and night shower
- Use a salicylic acid bodywash in morning
-Use Benzoyl peroxide bodywash at night (rinse thoroughly. the bodywashes don't seem to bleach like the face washes or creams)
-Use a long handled lotion applicator or brush to get your back

-Also in morning, after shower, use adipalene cream all over back/chest/etc (use long handled lotion applicator if you can't have someone else do it to get your back). It can take up to 8 - 12 weeks to start working, so start early! Doesn't have to be morning, can use at night if you want.

-For local spots on face or body, apply a benzoylperoxide cream

-Make sure you're changing and washing your shirts often. Buy a couple workout shirts so you can rotate them

-Supplement vitamin A. Might not be super helpful, but there ya go.

Hadn't heard of Fabior. Thanks.

I had to use accutane as a teenager. I think people on these sites are far too cavalier with that powerful drug. It deserves serious respect.

However, starting steroids brought back acne, though not on my face as it was as a teenager, but rather all over back and also some chest and arms. I had to lower dosages and follow the plan I outlined elsewhere on this thread.

But thanks again re: Fabior. If things start to get out of control, I'll check it out!
