1. steroids do not cut man. they just don't. it might seem that way looking at the way the mods and vets look but i can 1000% assure you steroids had much less to do with it than you think
2. you 'tried cutting'. you sure about that? because that is a common complaint from people is that they can't lose weight. you aren't gonna succeed at weight loss following IIFYM or calorie counting thats for sure. you need to do train your body to lose fat and keep it off. this is why you see people fall off the wagon and get fat and out of shape, then get back on and quickly get back into shape. body memory is REAL.
i have a better idea for you. try alternate day fasting. that is where you eat 1 day and fast the next. do that for 8 weeks. and lets see where you are at. you can even start up your own log. when you do it like that you don't lose muscle, you actually gain some. its because your HGH goes sky high on this. and your body will destroy fat cells in the process. it works. do a log on here where you detail it daily. on your eating days eat 2-3 meals that are HEALTHY. do not snack and do not eat crap. that will work and its easy to do
Interesting how many cals do you recommend for the eating days and no food at all for fasting days?
eat 2-3 meals that day. good clean meals. fruits, veggies, good quality meat. stay away from fast food, restaurant food, processed junk. eat what your ancestors ate 1M years ago. just go with that. don't worry about how many cals. just eat clean.
no food on fasting days. just water. if you must have coffee/tea you can.
the idea here is we are training your body to become insulin sensitive again. right now you probably aren't. you probably feel horrible just going half the day with no food, and that is something that will need to get reversed otherwise you are opening yourself up to become another statistic
the benefits of fasting go beyond just fat loss. that is what many people cannot grasp. the health benefits are incredible across the board. that is why people who live the longest in the world do a lot of fasting.
here is a homework assignment for you. I have several fasting threads up on here you can take a look at. https://www.evolutionary.org/forums...ld-more-muscle-my-prolong-fast-log-81856.html
also have some fasting podcasts you can look up. and you can also look into 3 guys on youtube. Thomas Delauer, dr. pradip jamnadas, and dr. jason fung. those 3 have a lot of good info on the subject.
and if you need me further hit me up for a 1 on 1 consult and we can go over all this shit to get you onto the right path
I do fast for 30 days in Ramadan as part of my religion. But question why doesn’t a simple deficit work? Isn’t it the exact same?
yes Big Ramy also fasts for Ramadan and so do many pro bodybuilders, but with ramadan you are only fasting during daylight. you are eating before sunrise and after sunset. so there isn't enough of a time in between to get into ketosis which takes 20+ hours and maybe longer depending on the person. someone used to eating a lot of sweets will take longer. alternate day fasting you are essentially fasting 30-40 hours then feeding say 4-8 hours then fasting again.
now as far as why caloric deficits don't work i explained this many times but let me explain it to you again.
calories in vs. calories out is TRUE! however, it is impossible to calculate calories out and i will explain why. because when you eat calories you also burn less calories. 70% of the calories you eat are burned from digesting it. so someone lets say eats in a 1000 calorie deficit everyday and burns 2 pounds a week. i mean that is what these stupid calculators says happens right? so do you really believe that after a year they would weigh 100 pounds less? after 2 years 200 pounds less? and so on? of course not. our bodies have SURVIVAL mechanisms in place during a famine to react to that. so someone who just eats a deficit daily may lose weight initially, but over time they stop losing and stay fat. then once they give up they gain it all back and more cause their metabolism is shot. this is what is happening with you my man! and it happens to 99% of people who do weight watchers and fail. so the actual science is you aren't really eating in a deficit cause you aren't burning calories anymore. you are just burning less and less and completely shooting yourself in the foot. how do you think The Rock eats like 5000+ calories a day and stays ripped? or Big Ramy? yet an obese fat person eats way less and stays fat cause their body has zero reason to burn that excess fat
the 2nd reason is the human body, and no animal on earth, ever eats sugar + fat in the same food. think about that. there isn't a single food on earth that contains BOTH sugar and fat in nature but they sure exist when they are made in a lab. pizza is a perfect example, one of the worst foods you could eat! also fast food, a mcdonalds meal with a coke. so horrible for you. tons of sugar and fat at the same time right to the gut. i bet if you look at what foods you are eating a lot of that exists. when you consume these types of foods it goes right to your fat stores and completely throws off your metabolism. your body stays in fat storage mode cause your insulin stays elevated and your hgh stays low. your body uses energy from the food you are eating, instead of that excess fat you have stored on your body. your body never has the opportunity to burn fat? so this stupid IIFYM counting calories garbage needs to stop cause it simply does not work and has been proven not to work.
with fasting the opposite happens. your insulin stays low and your hgh goes up. also once you get into deep ketosis your body starts to attack fat cells for energy. so instead of you spinning your wheels forever doing calorie this or that, fasting is far more effective and actually works. in fact if you want to see it in action go to your drug store and buy ketone strips and piss on them after 20-25 hours of fasting and you can see for yourself. i explain all this in my fasting thread with charts and studies
Then how come
Bodybuilders and others while on gear eat a certain amount of cals like 10, 20 weeks out and get leaner when they do is count cals??
