@kcates i completely avoid anything overhead man. it puts too much pressure on the shoulders. i blew mine out around 10 years agoI been working on building up my shoulder strength. Because of my right shoulder has 6 anchors in it and lost a lot of mobility in it from that accident. I was doing seat overhead press on the Smith machine because I cant lift the 45 lbs bar yet. Then I got the idea I can use the ez curl bar to start out with. I started with the bar and just been doing 3x8 2x weekly. Today, I got up to 7.5lbs on each side for 8. I tried the 45 lbs bar and I got one rep. It's getting better. Another month and I might be able to do the 45lb bar for 8.

@kcates Bros. That looks like a nice setup on the barbecue. Didn't know you were a chef. That look really good. I want some of that.Food porn: This is just to tease all you folks out there. My wife had some of her family over today because there was some family in front out of town and the rest are local. So there was 12 of us. She asked me to cook hibachi on the Blackstone. So we had hibachi rice with chicken breast and thighs and Mayport Shrimp which is our local right off the boat shrimp we go out to Mayport and get. The family had to wait until 2:30 but they were happy in the end.
@kcates You are the food champion of the day right there. Fresh shrimp is really good. Just make sure that you don't get any food poisoning. Especially this time of year when it's so hot and the seafood can go badFood porn: This is just to tease all you folks out there. @kcates Nice to see you in the gym, hitting the weights, you don't have to go heavy, man. No reason to injure yourself. It's right off the boat on ice all the way until we began to prepare them. Then once cooked there good to go. I ate the left overs yesterday straight out the fridge. If you reheat them they tend to get a little chewy. I like them cold like cocktail shrimp. So good!@kcates You are the food champion of the day right there. Fresh shrimp is really good. Just make sure that you don't get any food poisoning. Especially this time of year when it's so hot and the seafood can go bad
I am it's like the stabilizer muscles have gotten weak and not some much the main shoulder muscle. On the Smith machine I got up to doing 45's on each side but that really takes the stabilizer muscles out of the equation. Getting my shoulder stronger has helped me tremendously at work. Before I worked out my shoulder would ware out so quickly doing dry wall work or painting over head. Now I can work all day again. Getting it stronger helps me at work for sure. I don't plan to go crazy and be trying to push 315 overhead or anything. I be happy if I ever slowly over the years built up to just being able to workout with the 45's. Bench is not as bad but I take it slow with my bench just because I am always scared of that shoulder. So I warm up really good and then my first set I always bring the weight down slowly then after a few and I see it's working fine I start moving through the reps like normal. That slow negative work is beneficial as well even though I just do it to make sure I am working good before I go normal. Basically I always baby that shoulder because I don't want to mess it up.@kcates 6 anchors in your shoulder then you should be careful for sure man. you might not be able to lift super heavy
check my log. i don't lift crazy and i still am getting good results
