Tuesday
Usual shoulder warm ups
Seated Press
to 60kg x 8 reps (pain as per)

Hammer DB Curls
to 72.5kg x 4 reps - easy

Skull Crushers + TPD
to 52.75kg x 8 reps (easy) + 8p x 16 reps

You are an animal!!!
Those skull crushers are serious!! My elbows hurt just wrapping my head around that.

104kg two hand pinch is hardcore!

I've had air under 118kg (it would have been the record at the time) and I'm still, I think, 3rd best in the UK with 117.5kg. The new WR is 127kg or so and I visualize pulling 130kg to keep my head in the right place.

Friday
@ Powerhouse Gym
Close Grip Bench Press
bar etc x 30+ reps, 60kg x 8 reps, 80kg x 6 reps, 120kg x 1 rep and 147.5kg x 3 x 1 reps

Lat Pulldowns
I just purchased a copy of the Vince Gironda File No1 and he mentions chins pulling to the lower chest so I did my pulldowns with a close grip in that style. It was a bit loose on the last set but felt real nice at 18 stack plates
8p x 12, 14p x 12, 18p x 12 and 21p (stack) x 12 reps

Dumbbell Wrist Curls
10kg x 12 reps @, 20kg x 12 reps @, 30kg x 12 reps @, 42.5kg x 5 reps RH and I had to drop to 37.5kg x 6 reps LH (ugly rep)

Bwt: 314lbs

Thursday
Head back in the game. Visions of huge WR lifts to get into the right frame of mind

How do athletes, I'm including myself, get their heads in the right place?

My earlier training was a combination of 4 things.
1) Thinking of myself as being in even more of a hardcore training environment than I already was (my home gym). Today I had my mind in Temple Gym.
2) A big number. The latest (just last week) all time record is 127kg. But myself and that lifter said we'd race to 130kg/286lbs. So that was the number
3) Training with a mentor and former great rival. I saw myself lifting with him.
4) Showing an audience, crowd, mob of people 'how this shit is done'.

Mindset is such a huge thing. i can't tell you how many times I have heard people say they really didn't feel like going to the gym but once they were there they had a great session.

That's as much about energy (long day at work or not fully recovered) as it is the endorphins.

What I often found, working near New Scotland Yard back in the day, was I'd be knackered around 6pm or so. I'd neck a coffee about 6.30pm then catch a train. I'd zone out on the train but as it pulled into my local station I'd be 'ready' and boom we were off!

How hot is it here? I thought it was always cold in UK lol

How hot is it here? I thought it was always cold in UK lol

We have had a bunch of 31c days (even after sunset) and a few at 40c. Had a heck of a thunderstorm late yesterday. Still kinda sticky.

We moan and bitch about it but the UK is usually kinda temperate. Neither too high or too cold.

331lbs that's real beasting Mobster. i doubt anyone on EVO is over 310lbs.

My height helps (6'3) which makes me on of the three tallest I think (of the regulars) and I've been doing this the longest (or nearly the longest)

6'3 is huge at 315 lbs either way.

It's like when I first started getting taller - I only notice it now and again. If I train at home I might think 'oh my arms look good from this angle'. But if I catch a view of myself down the local gym with normal sized fellas... then I think 'fuck I'm BIG' lol. Issues with the size include how many fkin office chairs etc I break. Like I go through one per year FFS LOL

It's always a comparison. When I prep for a show I feel that way too.

@ Powerhouse Gym. I took a sample of my Vanilla Ice Cream (new hobby). Very popular. So much so I just ordered three more flavours (Rum & Raisin, lemon and ginger) to go with the Vanilla, White Choc and Strawberries and Cream (batch already made with frozen strawberries added) and a bunch of 4oz cups with lids for samples (possible sales)

The day of the Queens funeral. I wasn't going to watch but ended up looking at loads of it. Back in the day I played a back office roll (dealing with members of the public calling in as I had good knowledge of central London) for the Lady Di funeral and a traffic control role for a VIP funeral at Westminster Abbey (lots of Embassies paid their respects). Awesome pageantry

However, it was also leg day so
