I’ve been a regular on here for years. Big PSL fan! I recently broke my leg and the laws have changed so much here that I can only get 2 weeks of tramadol and the pain is killing me!! Any sources? Suggestions?

Take some OTC pain killers, DO NOT use serious pain meds you'll be addicted for life

That is not true whatsoever. I’ve been on big doses and came off cold turkey without any issues.

If you broke your leg and they gave you tramadol, you need to send a complaint to yours state medical board about that. Tramadol is garbage and one of the weakest opioids. You’d have better results on high dose ibuprofen. Nobody’s going to sell you legit pain meds, you can only get that on the streets and likely risk death doing so
Yes YOU got off cold turkey I believe YOU but majority, like 80% of people who take prescription pain medication become addicted
you are lucky to be part of the 20% not addicted
That is far from the truth and they are currently rewriting cdc guidelines because that is not true and the study saying the doctors are at fault is gone since that is also fault. Opioid use disorder, which is what you’re speaking of, has an incidence in real studies of .1% to 34%. Chronic pain patients average at 3.4% which would be the highest instance based on your theory. The actual largest percentage occurs with mentally unstable people that clearly shows that opioids are not addictive to the extent you’re saying, it’s the nut jobs out there that get addicted to anything or cannot handle their emotions. Similar how they shouldn’t own guns, they shouldn’t take addictive medications, alcohol, etc. Now that doesn’t mean they’re addicted, but at risk since they’re abusing the medication in the first place. The information you’ve heard is lies and doctors are just as guilty as spreading misinformation about this as the government. Everyone wants to blame something rather than someone. The fact is, all this is a political pony and states are using this to sue pharmas for BS to pad their pockets.
I'm not disagreeing that some people can quit opioids, just like some people can quit heroin but MAJORITY will get addicted. While I had mad respect for you that you can quit, I have multiple family members heavy addicted to pain meds after basic tooth surgery and 1 died already, it's not joke.
I’m not saying it’s a joke or that it doesn’t happen. I’m saying the statistics you’re speaking to are not factual. Certain people have higher risks, longer use increases risk, dose generally over 50mme, and long acting versions all are the risks. Some people have their lives saved from these drugs, so although I’m sorry that you’ve experienced that, the opinion you’re stating is not correct and you shouldn’t spread false data based on opinions. The fact is opioids we’re at an all time low prescription wise and deaths and overdoses sky rocketed showing that it’s not pills since this practice has been in play forever. Suicide is all too common from people in pain and spreading false information to the public. Here’s another fact, “ Chronic pain was present in 9% of 123,000 people who died by suicide. The rate rose over time from 7% to 10%, while suicide rates from opioid overdose remained the same (2%).” Please deal with your loss on your own and do not spread false assumptions because you have an emotional tie to it because that ideology is clearly causing a significant impact on death than the pills themselves or doctors when that’s not the case and the facts I’ve sent via studies proves that. Again, sorry for you loss.
I agree with a lot of what you say. But the guys are also correct - pain meds are over prescribed and poorly managed. We've had two posts, inc this one, where it's clear to the reader (if not the OP) that the OP WANTS more pain meds vs needs (as they claim). That docs are now beginning to restrict their use is good.
