This week’s been a solid win — with one small hiccup.

First up: we bought a house! Sight unseen, over 2,500km away. Bit of a gamble, but we’re stoked. From the tropics to temperate....

Also gave ventrogluteal injections another shot. I’ve been aiming for ~1 mL EOD — the most volume I’ve run so far. Up until now, delts have worked but been uncomfortable and were the only site I could hit reliably.

Tried VG again with 0.5 mL using a 30g, 25mm pin — went in smooth, totally painless.

Quads, on the other hand, have been rough.

Too much post-injection pain, so they’re out. For now, I’m running ED injections across four sites: delts and VG.

I cant do Quads whole leg goes into a spasm. Try pecs bro it's either going to work for you or not , its my no 1 spot then VG

Dont pin quads, its very dangerous with PIP and infections.

Yeah brother, I am!

Grabbed some protein powder this week — I usually go unflavoured, and the Mrs and I used to stock up on bulk plain stuff whenever it was on special to fill out meals. Had to settle for vanilla ice cream flavour this time. It’s stupidly sweet, but I’ve been mixing it into everything just to get it down.

Backed off the semaglutide to get the appetite going again — time to feed the machine.

Also made the call to switch to daily injections. 1 mL EOD felt like a bit much, so I’ve halved the dose and gone ED instead. Much easier to manage.

And @Freki — no pec shots, thanks. Not keen on stabbing my chest just yet.

Also made the call to switch to daily injections. 1 mL EOD felt like a bit much, so I’ve halved the dose and gone ED instead. Much easier to manage.

Tried to jazz up my usual light evening snack — Chobani Greek yogurt, muesli, frozen mixed berries, a drizzle of honey… then I got cocky and added a serve of vanilla ice cream–flavoured protein powder.

What I created was less “snack” and more “sweetened regret.” Sickly sweet, borderline offensive. Dessert vibes, but like the cheap kind that comes with regret and a sticky spoon.

Did I finish it?
Absolutely I did.
Because macros, money, and stubborn pride don’t let me bin a $4 tub of goo.

@juddy excellent job on this training session. my favorites if i had to pick would be the barbell back squat and plate squat. Nice, variations of this training is very good to trick your body.

Just really broken atm.

Im in bed by 630 sometimes.... sleep by 7 to 730pm. Up at 9pm, back down about 10pm, the up at 2am to 3am....

I feel hungry but suspect it's boredom.

Stress is higher than normal.

If you can't control your food, GLP1 is the way, semaglutide or retatrutide to start off.

So much has been going right on the personal front, wins all around. But then… I screwed my elbow again. Not as bad this time, thankfully. I felt the shift from mild discomfort to pain and pulled the pin early.

I’ve spent the week trying to figure out how to unload my left elbow. It’s made me more aware of an imbalance. My arms feel different now, though that might just be in my head.

Yeah bro. He’s a big boy. I had one too many years ago. Was almost 100 pounds and he was super sweet and protective of my gfs frenchie. Pits are super athletic and the bite is crazy, but dogs are all kinda like that. I remember seeing feral dogs in Mexico when I was a kid, and you’d see like, a poodle and think it was nice and it would turn into a fierce beast 😂.

A GSP is a proper hunting dog. They have strong drives and are very trainable, but the first two years they just destroy everything hahahaha. I have a buddy that used to breed them. My mom has one, and she lives in kind of a tough neighborhood. He’ll know what to do when it’s go time for sure

Ive had some time off. I’ve been keeping busy behind the scenes, but it looks like elbow surgery is probably on the cards. I’ll need an MRI to confirm, but of course that means heading down to Perth, so nothing will happen until after the new year.

I’ve kept up with light weights, sticking to bars and dumbbells where I can, depending on what feels best. Had another look at gym options, and seriously, the prices are ridiculous up here. I’ll have to cough up eventually, but it stings.

I sure do, but I don’t think this has much impact on my healing, Lev. Still, for everyone’s info.

Back in 2011, I was 85kg, lean and run 10to 15km several time a week. After an accident
I fractured L1 through L4, which set off a fun (read: absolutely miserable) cocktail of rehab and medication. I left hospital on 400 mg of tramadol, 200 mg celebrex, and 150-300 mg lyrica just to stay upright. That carried on until after my first born.

From around February 2016, I switched to maximum-dose Tapentadol at 400 mg daily, split morning and night, plus 60 mg duloxetine and 200 mg celebrex to dull the worst of it. That kept me working manual jobs, somehow. Lyrica was dropped by the pain specialist, wish that didnt happen tbh.

Last year I decided enough was enough. I worked Tapentadol to 50 mg, bumped duloxetine to 90 mg, and kept celebrex steady. I got there by dropping my weight from 115 kg to 85 kg, cutting work stress, getting more active, and starting TRT along with THC.

To be blunt, I still can’t run, jog, jump, bend over, sit or stand for too long, and most evenings I’m done by 7 pm because the pain is relentless. THC/CBD gummies help me get to sleep, though I have to cycle off them now and then.

Turns out I’d ignored high blood pressure for years, which was a bit of a facepalm moment. I started Ramipril, though my BP still hovers between 135 and 150 most days.

It’s been a grind, but I’m heading in the right direction so even with an injury im feeling pretty good about my situation.

For me, this is just TRT PLUS.

You've already come a long way @juddy and respect for pushing through that much pain and tapering off heavy meds. But to really move forward you should look hard at fixing the root causes not just masking things. First get that BP under proper control even if it means tweaking meds or adding cardio like walks in short bursts throughout the day. Second inflammation seems to be a big driver here so look at curcumin with bioperine, omega 3s and cutting seed oils entirely. Third get serious about gut health since that affects everything from pain perception to mood, so think kefir, probiotics, maybe even carnivore or low FODMAP for a reset.
TRT and THC help but you could add peptides like BPC-157 or TB-500 for recovery and joint healing. Try sauna if you can access one and cold exposure too, they help with systemic inflammation and nervous system balance. Focus hard on quality sleep and magnesium glycinate at night. You’ve put in the work already so these changes can take you from surviving to actually feeling good.
