Hey everyone,

I am around 23 weeks out from my first show. I am doing Junior, Open, True Novice and Novice in either Open/Classic (still undecided).

I am currently doing 20 mins cardio 130-150bpm per week and training on a 2 on 1 off 3 on 1 off split. Rest Lower Upper Rest Push Pull Push/Arms. TD kcal are 2900 and NTD kcal are 2600. Currently on 120mg test e.

I endeavour to keep this log updated. I recently did my first posing session and fuck it was taxing.

I am looking to just do the state show and probably not nationals though I am still undecided.

Sensational view at the gym to!

As for contest prep cycle, I am still deciding. It will probably be Test/Mast mainly lipos aside. I may use Tren E/A at a sub 80mg dose per week and potentially var towards the end. Also yes I am self coached. I like it way more.

Good work brother which state are you competing in?
I think you'd be better suited to classic over open. You'd need significantly more mass and tissue for open. Not a knock on you by any means and hey I could be completely wrong. Good luck with whichever direction you choose.

How does your split work? Looks like you will be doing the following: push (as part of upper), rest, push, pull, push (and arms). So pushing three times with 48 hours between sessions. You don't reckon recovery is affected doing that?

Yeah that's what my posing coach said. He said I actually have a good structure but I just am fat basically lol. However I don't agree with undersized open guys going into classic. My weight cap at an amateur level is 82.6kg for classic which I won't outgrow ever I think. Basically I am light as fuck. I literally have hollow bones so on stage and even if I had to get under the cap I would always be able to. Competing in VIC.

Yeah my top shelf needs to come up though. The push/arms session is mainly shoulder focused but yeah I am pressing a lot. I mean men's physique guys press 3x plus per week.

Why so many class choices? @PrinceDaddy has done this. When I competed in my sport I chose one. Ended up British (4x) and European (2x) champion. Towards the end of competing I could have done it as over 50 or a master class (M1, 2 and 3 I think).

One issue, which is money related, is just how much it costs to enter each class in many feds

Yeah it costs a shit load. Plus tanning and registration. That’s why I want to just to the state show and not nationals.

@NickLovesPrime that sounds really exciting, man. 23 weeks out is really cool. Maybe we'll get you on the podcast ahead of the show, and you can tell us how your prep is going.

I like your consistent training, both the cardio and the training are on point. That's the type of consistency I love to see. @NickLovesPrime

The cardio looks fantastic. I like that you're keeping the beats per minute pretty strong. I can tell you're a younger guy just based on that number because usually guys who are older have a maximum heart rate of 150, not something they do for regular cardio. @NickLovesPrime

@NickLovesPrime Bros, the cardio is looking really good and I like the beats per minute. It shows that you are getting steady cardio and you are building strength in your heart. What is your resting heart rate? I'm curious.

Yeah usually I get my heart rate up to about 130-140bpm on average on the elliptical. That being said it's tougher when dieting to get my heart rate up high. My resting heart rate sits at like 60-70bpm normally but when I diet it drops lower.

I think you will like one division more than another. Your physique and posing will also tell you where you belong. As an amateur you should try them all and figure out what you like. You'll enjoy the medals and trophies, for me now it is the pro card. I can do all 3 mens classes and will do different divisions with the goal being the pro card. The end game is the pro card. The reality is you can be an competitive amateur trying to get the pro card, but much more difficult to be a pro and competitive.

That's a good strategy and it works.
