High death rates are associated with Pro-Wrestling because?

The wrestling profession has been the hardest hit with steroid and recreational drug use as a result of abuse. 65 Wrestlers have died in recent years associated with the WWE and other professional wrestling organizations in the US. It has been shown that wrestlers abuse steroids and prescription pain pills at an alarming rate increasing there risk of enlarged hearts which lead to heart attacks and strokes. If you look at Arnold Schwarzenegger and his physique back when he won all of his titles he was around 265 and lean and I think looked the best of anyone ever. Fast forward to today and the professional bodybuilders are around 325 plus and look horrible. I know that Arnold and Zane are approaching 71 years of age and still going strong. Are body builders of that age living longer due to how they cycled in the 60's and 70's? Or did they not have access to the AAS compounds that are around today? The question is this, will the up and coming body builders start dying off due to excessive abuse at young ages such as the wrestling profession? Its sad that people give our sport a bad name by severely abusing AAS and recreational drugs. Discuss

I think the lifestyle in wrestling has more to do with it, just an opinion though. I remember reading that Brock Lesnar wanted to get out of that, constant drinking, pain killers, etc.

Plus I imagine they are not cycling correctly, or if they even come off. That right there puts tremendous stress on the body.

They are probably doing huge cycles year round with no time off and since they are constantly traveling around doing matches they rely on pain killers and recreation drugs to get them through which adds additional stress on them.

I agree with this. They most likely run gear at very high doses with no off time. Then you add in a bunch of pain killers and cocaine or whatever else and you have a recipe for disaster.

GEAR and DOPE = Death!

a buddy of mine is a former wrestler and fairly young and his back is messed up really bad.. I just think its a combination of all the drugs they have to take for such a brutal profession. think about how they pick and up throw 250+ guys over and over, and get thrown around themselves.. its a brutal thing to put the body through... that's why guys like the Rock are smart to get out of it fast and do movies instead

I was actually in the WWE farm system several years ago. I've heard some shit from how it used to be in the 80's and 90's on the road - lots of drug use. Also, wrestling is extremely hard on the body - from my first day I was never not hurt until months after I stopped. I wasn't on anything when I wrestled and they seemed pretty serious about drug testing - so I'm not sure what guys did when I was there or these days. I will say this, it also takes a certain kind of personality to stay in that business - you have to be a little bit crazy and not too attached to a home life - so it doesn't surprise me that one out of 100 or so go bat-shit-crazy / kill themselves / or partake in drugs to excess. And then, you're always just going to have those guys who lost the genetic lottery and have massive heart attacks at 50. Look at Jerry Lawler - one of the cleanest living dudes (maybe other than diet) I've ever met - no drugs at all - and he had a massive heart attack not too long ago.

I agree....in movies he can still use steroids but not have to worry about getting jacked up!

The guys we are talking about use boat loads of aas and stay on year round. Their idea of a bridge is a couple grams of test a week. If someone wants to die before the age of 50, then follow their examples.

This in no way represents the vast majority of people on this board who I am sure use aas responsibly. You can abuse hostess cupcakes and meet the same end.

Why are they dying at this rate? They don't know what they're doing. The IFBB doesn't know what the f to do. Same with the top of the NPC. Hell, I just learned today of a very promising drug for protecting the heart while on the gas. I called an IFBB friend of mine today, mentioned the drug, and his exact words, "what the hell is that?" I got a text this evening from him saying he just ordered the stuff, and thanks. Lol! It gets down to the FACT that the majority just doesn't know what they're doing. I didn't for the first 17 years competing. The last 3 years, yes, blood tests every 2-3 months. After a show three years ago, my HDL was 7. Yes 7... Now it's 54. LDL is 129. Before that... Well, the main thing is most don't know, and don't want to know. And that's at the very top, no less the rest.

For the drug, I'd say check out this thread here http://www.evolutionary.org/forums/...g-icon-ultimate-warrior-dead-54-a-4432-2.html

Prescription pain killers, injuries, depression, not having time for a family, roids, hard drugs. How can they not be dying early.

if they want to make it in the biz how can they not ?

the show must go on !! you finally caught your big break and are going against a popular wrestler in 3 days but you wake up sore and in a shitload of pain.

do you

A: call up your boss and tell him you can't make it cause you are hurting, this would mean you are finished because there are a thousand more hillbillies who want your opportunity.. on to bagging groceries
B: take every PK, rec drug under the sun until you feel better so you can put food on the table and land a big contract
