Time to fork a new thread for 2026. Hi y'all as we say in Texas. I'm excited to see what 2026 brings.

I compete at two shows every year. They are both in Pittsburgh

The NPC Masters (July 15-16) and the NPC North Americans (Sept 2-3). I compete as Masters competitor. I am 57 for both of these shows this year. I usually do all three mens categories Physique (Board Shorts), Classic Physique (Height/Weight limited classic bb), Open Bodybuilding (Weight class, usually a welterweight). I can meet the criteria for all three. I do like bodybuilding best. I have been doing these national shows since 2019. This will be my 8th year in this endeavor to get an IFBB Pro Masters Card. I have won plenty of local awards medals, trophies, etc. This is the carrot that has been dangling before me. Many of my friends and fellow competitors are in the same pursuit or have already earned their pro card.

I have been bodybuilding since 2011. I was natural from 2011 to 2017. I got on doctor prescribed TRT in 2017. I have usually done 2 shows a year since 2011, some years more, some years less. In 2019 I turned 50, I decide to be enhanced and ever since have been carefully applying the knowledge and support from multiple sources in pursuit of this lofty goal. I have come close a few times, but recent years I seem to be fading. However I do think I have improved each year. It just has become more competitive and the competition structure has changed a bit to make it more difficult to earn a IFBB Pro card.

The EVO community has been super helpful in my pursuit. I was complete NEWB back in 2018-2019. I learned so much from the forum and I am still learning. Thanks for all the support. My past logs are in the signature. Check them out.

Today was shoulders. My shoulders still are not 100% but they are getting better. My left shoulder just seems off relative to my right shoulder. My core is pretty strong for this time of year. I think the focus on the core has helped. I am still very much in a maintenance phase till February 1. I'm hoping to get my weight range below 190 by Feb.

At this point, these are the anabolics and peptides.
Friday 1ml Test/Deca 400ml
Monday 2mg Retatrutide
Friday BPC157/TB500

I do a whole bunch of supplements such as psyllium, tudca, etc. Too many to list.

I have an idea of a milder cycle to start in Feb but will come up with it as I get closer to the date. I plan on doing bloodwork prior to starting up.

Attaching current pictures. I am being lazy with the hair. Being a hairy gorilla I certainly picked the wrong sport for showing off my physique.
I will clean it up likely around early March. If you know me and follow this log, once I get locked and loaded I am on point focused with eyes on the prize.

I have to admit I am feeling it at the gym. My workout have some juice to them. Joints and muscle bellies feeling good. I suppose the Deca/Test combo is probably kicking in. Feeling that libido increase as well. Maybe the new year reset? Gym was exceptionally busy as the January crowd is showing up now.

Nice start to the new log mate. I look forward to following your prep for the two shows.

Another good workout session. I feel like I am getting an addition 1-3 reps with progressive session or just the weight on the top end feeling more in control. Good signs for what is ahead.
I've never run deca high dose but NPP turned me into Superman overnight. Sounds like your hitting the sweet spot.

I'm taking 40mgs ED of Tren A right now and it's nothing like 200mg of NPP a week for me in the gym.

Did you have the same experience?

@BeMe
I have not used NPP, its on my try it list. I have used Deca. Just a longer ester/half-life. I would agree with you better strength with Deca/Anadrol.

Tren for me is muscle preservation when you are cutting into the show. Less calories and still maintain strength. It's usually stacked with Masteron on a contest cut cycle. I think you generally feel better on Deca/NPP since it is a wet compound and you will have more water retention so essentially fuller and stronger for lifts.

I never felt aggression or rage on Tren, they say it is the rage roid.

Nice training man, plenty of volume - curious why you do barbell presses and the smith?

Pump would be insane! Long long you in the gym for for that workout ?

I like volume, I've always trained that way. I get to the gym around 4:30AM. Usually stretch and do core work for 45 min, then get to the body part.
Right now I'm alternating between the abs and chest. Get a little more rest between chest movements. I have slight shoulder issue. I probably go about 2 hours. I have time it does not bother me and it just flows.

Frustrated dad today. My daughter is 18, home from college for the break. I never got her to ride a bike. I though let's go rent a bike and learn.
So, we rent bikes. I show her what to do, I walk with her back and forth on grass catching the bike, holding it letting it go. It just was not her day. Memories flooded back when I tried when she was younger and how I just could not seem to get it done. Of course she was a lot lighter back then.

It just makes me think some people are daredevils. They have no fear. They see it, try it, maybe fail but got at it again with no fear. My kid just has too much fear. I ended just telling her it is not your day. Don't worry it is ok, you will learn some day and you will love it. Today is just not your day.
I do feel many things like running, cycling, bodybuilding have a runway. Maybe you start early in life, maybe late in life. It is never too late.

Anyways, just have to doing your thing, eventually if you love it, you will master it.

Its one of those things - my brother is 25 and still cant, he just couldnt get it as a kid either.
I think your right with some people having no fear, riding a bike is not a natural feeling at all.

One of those things that are alot harder than they look 😂
True. It is a workout. A little harder for us since we are carrying more muscle. Does not help to be carrying offseason excess body fat. I do like body weight exercises, pull ups, dips, etc.

I got to this point. My hands were tired. I'm hanging on. The wall is not straight vertical. It's coming out. I was close to the very top. Just reaching out with one hand leaving the other to keep the body up. I ended up saying that was enough for today...

Rock climbing is an insane workout. Those dudes are pound for pound the strongest athletes on the planet.

There's a young skinny rock climber guy that goes around smashing all these grip strength comps against guys twice his size. He broke a bunch of world records for like 3 weight classes above himself and didn't even realize it lol.

If you ever wanna watch an amazing documentary checkout the Alpinist on Amazon. Crazy stuff

Sunday Abs/ Shoulders
Wake Up @ 193
Post Workout @ 188
Steps 5K

I have been working my shoulders back up to form. I have to admit they feel better each week. I do abs to start and making a concerted effort to tighten the core. My back comes in decent. My issue is the belly fat when I cut into the show. I have belly distention. This year my goal is to just start working to being the leanest and biggest 165 in July. I know each time I have been there I still had fat to lose. Last year with the addition of Reta, Mots-C, AOD-9064, SLU-PP332 my body was getting there. I just needed more time. I do feel like I have better control for this time of year.

For my shoulders, I am just building reps and strength. Just Bilateral movements for now

Seated Barbell Press
Front Bar, 135, 155, 185, 205, 235, 185, 135 (Front & Back), 95 (Front & Back), Bar (Front & Back)

Standing Smith Front Press
Front Press Bar, 10s, 25s, 35s, 50s, 25s, Bar (each side)
Back Press Bar, 5s, 10s, 15s, 20s, 10s, Bar (each side)

Seated Smith Press
Front Press Bar, 10s, 25s, 35s, 50s, 25s, Bar (each side)
Back Press Bar, 5s, 10s, 15s, 20s, 10s, Bar (each side)

Plate Loaded Seated Press
Front 45s, 70s, 95s (each side)
On the way down I flip in the machine and face the pad
I will come down 95s, 70s, 45s, 25s (each side)
I will do bilateral press, then a unilateral press (Both seated)
A standing bilateral press. Then drop to the next weight drop.

Unilateral flies 1 pin drop for 6 sets
Unilateral reverse flies. 1 pin drop for 6 sets

My shoulders are feeling a nice burn. Covered in too much hair to see any details yet. Biggest thing is flexibility and joints feeling better. Likely due to pre-stretching and Deca.

I will try to do weekly progress shots. I'll shed the hair sometime in March. I will need to work on getting my front and back relaxed better.

I will need to work on getting my front and back relaxed better.
volume is strong :D @PrinceDaddy really looking hard and strong I love the back.

What a complete unit of a man and especially at your age!
Do you remember which dose of SLU-PP332 you like best last year? @PrinceDaddy

@HarleyGuy

Looking at my purchase, I was doing ED pre workout 1 capsule.
SLU-PP-332 500mcg
Thanks for looking that up for me bro appreciate it. There's a lot of chat about people running high dose mg (like 25mg) of it but the research I'm seeing is that anywhere from 250mcg-500mcg is plenty.

Loving your log brother.

A little tired from more climbing yesterday. So the reason we are the climbing gym is she is working on a school project that involves climbing.
Yesterday we learned about bouldering. No belay, just learning to scale up a wall with a color coded grip and difficulty level. Felt much harder than the climbing a rock wall with auto belay.

Decent work out today. Banded squats. Took a little video, feel like I could and should go a little deeper in the hole. I think last year I was very strong dropping to a high bench and popping off. This year no bench, just try to go deeper and with more control.

You do a ton of quality work brother, really impressive. The variety and aim to hit all angle aspects of any given body part is the what I really love looking at. Makes me ensure I try to do the same thing even though its for a different purpose.
Will say I prefer chains personally over bands with lifts, though I have started using bands on dips of all things 🤷‍♂️. Love the log.

(Gaba, melatonin, etc). I forgot to take the morning pills on the way out. I missed the caffeine hit. Oh well.

I did try the NAD patch for the first time today. So far I can say did not feel anything. I will try it for 30 days and see how it feels.

I am going to learn rope belay this evening at the climbing gym. I am having my dinner for lunch to accommodate the evening schedule.

It's pretty impressive just that you can do this for a man of your size bro. Keeping moving in this kinetic way will help with joint strength and it shows in your lifts.
Took a little video, feel like I could and should go a little deeper in the hole.
You could have gone deeper but with the band you're hitting full time under tension on concentric and eccentric with heavyyyy weight so I think you're good LOL. That vid was impressive I watched it 3 times!

My gym (Lifetime) has some plumbing or water issues. So they are shut down today and tomorrow. We are allowed to go to other more expensive locations nearby. So, I drove to one of the newer branches a few more miles away. Same time around 4AM. Did a decent workout, new or different equipment so did not push hard. This gym has weighted reverse hyperextension. My gym does not have a weighted version. Neat to try with 25s on each side. Funny how weight makes it much more challenging. The other cool thing about this gym is all the cardio is latest and greated. Full video touch monitors and the feature I like most is cordless phone charging. Just lay your phone on the Qi spot and pick up some charge. I have a 4 year old phone and I leave for the gym at 100%, by the time I get home from my walk about 6 hours later I am down to 15%.
They should fix the phones but they won't since they want us to upgrade more frequently.

Last night at the climbing gym we learned about rope climbing. This is quite for the climber but a little nerve-racking for belay person. You are in charge of that person's climb. Pulling up the slack so the if the person falls they belay catches them. Also easing them down when they are ready to come down. The equipment protects you, but you do have to learn how to do it and do it properly otherwise the climber can get seriously hurt.

I'm back to the new gym tomorrow. Looking forward to abs and biceps. Will likely do my normal bodyweight pullups.

There is a gym in the area that I really need to try. I have been to visit the first one. It is in multiple location now in DFW and looks to be going national Absolute Recomp. I have heard it has some very good equipment like Panetta. I think it is 24 hours with key fob. A lot of local competitor influencer types have been there. I have heard there are tripods all over the place. I'll make it there eventually.

I'll make it there eventually.
i love seeing new gyms :D are you able to move to the new location completely? @PrinceDaddy

I have my own equipment (hate waiting, hate sharing, not fond of humans in person), but I do end up hitting commercial facilities if we are interstate. Some are awesome and I do love playing with plate loaded machines in these. Of course they allow other people in.......🤣🤣🤣🤣

@PrinceDaddy climbing is a really good workout man. I noticed after I put on a lot of size in my early to mid 30s, it became a lot harder haha, but then when I trimmed back up, it became a lot easier. It's a really nice challenge.

Bro, your gym seems like a bunch of cheap bastards. They don't want to pay top dollar for a decent plumber. I deal with that a lot in my industry. They want to go the cheap route. They're going to get cheap results. @PrinceDaddy

It's amazing the kind of technology that we see at gyms these days. @PrinceDaddy I had no idea they had those types of things where you just leave your phone on the charger. That's pretty cool stuff and I can see how it's definitely useful since we use our phones so much when we were at the gym.

@PrinceDaddy rope climbing is definitely a nice hobby man and it's very challenging. Those people who climb mountains and stuff and fall into crevices, it's so dangerous yet so exciting as well.

Don't forget to wear your blue blocker glasses before bed. That will help boost your melatonin and other different neurotransmitters in your brain to make you sleep better. I learned that trick listening to the podcast. @PrinceDaddy

Another day at this new gym. Better workout today since I know the gym layout and equipment better. Traffic definitely picks up an hour into the session. It is the New Year resolutions joining up full force. Walk was decent today.

Ate dinner for lunch again today as we are scheduled to go the climbing gym later this evening.

Tomorrow back to my old gym for my leg day.

General question for my peeps, let's say you run mostly low carb high protien.
When is it best to have a heavy/high carb refeed?
Night before an intense work out to fuel the work out
After an intense work out to replenish the glycogen and saturate the muscles for recovery.
Or both?

I will be very interested in the responses to this myself @PrinceDaddy as I am hopeless with nutrition. The powerlifter in me keeps whispering "eat it, eat it all".

I agree. I'm more inclined to focusing on conditioning. Less strength and growth. I'm always lagging behind with fat still to lose.
Start early this year, implement a bit of fasting too, really try to dry out :D

If you run low carb most of the time, the best place for a heavy carb refeed is after the hardest training session to refill glycogen and drive recovery.
A smaller carb bump the night before can help performance, but the big refeed post workout is usually the better move for staying lean and progressing.
Though if you're doing show prep i would keep low carb most of the time and do a refeed on sunday day off.

Ended up not doing any climbing last night. My daughter has the membership for her school project. Apparently I was on a 7 day trial. So, I watched and just hope kiddo will be fearless and spread her wings. She ended up doing a little auto belay climbing and free bouldering.

Good leg workout today. Nothing excessive, just the right amount.

I have been started doing more core trying to tighten the waist and obliques. I would like to see the weight start to drop. I seem to be holding between 188-194. My nutrition is health and mostly clean with a treat here and there. I would get stricter in Feb.

My biggest frustration is my upper body chest/shoulders just don't feel as fresh as they should this time of year. Not sure why. I have been much stronger, just something feels off on my left shoulder.

Here's how it looks at the moment. Notice the NAD patch. I'm going to say waste of money.

Looking good brother. NAD patch 👎, noted. Hope you can figure out what is up with the left shoulder, that shit can be frustrating.
