The argument is that it activates ampk, which is true, but it activates different subunits than the ones that antagonize mtor. There is probably some decrease in hypertrophy because it is a strong antioxidant, but if you are taking aas that isn’t a negative. It is less anti hypertrophic than berberine which activates ampk to a greater degree.I actual have metformin at home just decided against utilizing it because of the effects I heard about stunting muscle growth, study could be wrong but I didn't want to risk it.
Bottom line is that anything we do to counter aas stress is going to be bad for hypertrophy. Tudca, nac, whatever. They also have benefits and metformin more than most because it is a strong antioxidant plus increases insulin sensitivity and improves lipid balance.
