📝Week 2 - Tuesday Update 📝

So far the "bulk" has been going good. I feel stronger in the gym, i feel more energized and my mood has lifted. It also feels good to have a tangible goal. I can put more focus into "beating" last weeks workout, and slowly adding more weight to myself and the excercises :LOL:

Monday - Untracked.

Started out good but ended up with a morning tea at work featuring home made cappuccino flavoured cake (which I obviously had to sample) then superbowl leftovers (ribs, cornbread, homemade jalapeno poppers and sweet potato pie)

May have been over (probably), may have been under but doesn't matter too much either way to me right now :ROFLMAO:

You guys might not see the value in the untracked days, but its a big step for lots of fitness minded women.

I think alot of girls in the fitness world develop disordered eating from obsession over calorie and macro counting. We all know we need to do it to hit our goals, but at the end of the day, you need to be realistic.

I know im not a competitive athlete, im just a regular person. If you're stepping on stage or a competitive athlete, then sure, you need to be 100% on! But for regular people, its ok to just have a normal day.

Obviously, you need to be reasonable, you cant just use an untracked day to eat like an idiot. You should still try to eat healthy, and as similar to your normal eating patterns as possible.

When you over-restrict yourself, thats when you most likely to break!

💪Exercise💪

Monday - Lower - progressed in most of my lifts. Just a little but felt good.

Tuesday - Pull - again progressed in most of my exercises so feeling positive in how things are going!

I'm finding it a good mental push using the app to track workouts. I can see the last week's weights and reps and aim to match or beat it!

Overall, feeling great in the gym!

My energy levels have been pretty good too!

Really sound and balanced advice on being obsessed with macros and calories. I think this is everyone not just sisters. Mentally it is something that people need to embrace not fear and certainly not feel guilty about. 🩵

Very excited to see my final weigh in for the week and if I have put on the 100-200g I was hoping for. I weigh myself daily and this week it's jumped all over the place!

I can't believe im a mid-30's women HOPING i've gained weight. 20 year old me would NEVER :ROFLMAO:

Gosh, i can't believe im eating over 200 carbs every day. I grew up in the whole "low carb" diet craze. I guess we never stop learning and progressing!

I have been slightly hungier, but i've also been able to train much harder. I think the increased effort is making me want more food. Which im 100% ok with 💪

Wednesday - rest - even had a cheeky little nap to catch up on the disrupted sleep :sleep:

Thursday - lower 2 - Tried pushing again and was able to push heavier or add an extra rep. By the end I was extra taxed but in a good way and I feel like I recovered pretty quickly, feeling back to normal!

Feeling positive especially with my progress in the gym already.

I felt pretty pleased in the gym this morning to be squatting the same weight as an older guy next to me. He didn't look like he trained regularly but was a much bigger guy so should've been naturally stronger than me.

Im taking it as a big win regardless!

(also, i dont want to take anything away from the guy, he's still killing it!)

Its amazing how even eating more we can still lose weight, or change our bodies so dramatically but in a good way, if we exercise aswell,

If only myself in my 20s knew that too, besides smashing the juice and whatever food I wanted too haha, if I could turn back time I would but its not too late to change now for the better!! Ur doing an amazing job homie 🤜🏽🤛🏽

Gosh, i can't believe im eating over 200 carbs every day. I grew up in the whole "low carb" diet craze. I guess we never stop learning and progressing!

I have been slightly hungier, but i've also been able to train much harder. I think the increased effort is making me want more food. Which im 100% ok with 💪

💪Exercise💪

Wednesday - rest - even had a cheeky little nap to catch up on the disrupted sleep :sleep:

Thursday - lower 2 - Tried pushing again and was able to push heavier or add an extra rep. By the end I was extra taxed but in a good way and I feel like I recovered pretty quickly, feeling back to normal!

I felt pretty pleased in the gym this morning to be squatting the same weight as an older guy next to me. He didn't look like he trained regularly but was a much bigger guy so should've been naturally stronger than me.

Im taking it as a big win regardless!

Its amazing how even eating more we can still lose weight, or change our bodies so dramatically but in a good way, if we exercise aswell,

If only myself in my 20s knew that too, besides smashing the juice and whatever food I wanted too haha, if I could turn back time I would but its not too late to change now for the better!! Ur doing an amazing job homie 🤜🏽🤛🏽

On friday I weighed in at 46.7kg. This is actually a reduction in weight, so NOT on target with 100-200g gain. I do think I woke a bit dehydrated, which might have skewed the number a bit. Regardless, I'll increase target cals to 2000 for this week and see how we go.

That taxed me for the rest of the workout so it felt a bit like "two steps forward, one step back".

I do actually work out, here is some proof!

Your quads popping while on the bench is insane!!

Having a spotter is a mind f. It honestly feels like they’re doing the most when there genuinely doing the least. I believe it would have been all you!!

It’s ok to be taxed sometimes too. Means you’ve properly gone to failure rather than breezing through everything on a lower weight than you need. Don’t take it as a back step!!

I also think it’s good to test your limits sometimes so you know where you should be working to progress. So if anything you’ve tested yourself. Another plus!!

Be interesting to see if u lower the reta dose a little to maybe get a bit of hunger back see if that woukd help to get another snack or meal or shake in, either way killing it

On friday I weighed in at 46.7kg. This is actually a reduction in weight, so NOT on target with 100-200g gain. I do think I woke a bit dehydrated, which might have skewed the number a bit. Regardless, I'll increase target cals to 2000 for this week and see how we go.

After last update, complaining i was hungry, i struggled to hit the higher calories on Friday and today. I may decrease the reta this week or next - but then also worry how much my appetite may come back!

Having a spotter is a mind f. It honestly feels like they’re doing the most when there genuinely doing the least. I believe it would have been all you!!

It’s ok to be taxed sometimes too. Means you’ve properly gone to failure rather than breezing through everything on a lower weight than you need. Don’t take it as a back step!!

I also think it’s good to test your limits sometimes so you know where you should be working to progress. So if anything you’ve tested yourself. Another plus!!

Yeah, most girls like KLOW. It hurts a little though.

I guess it just depends on how old they are and what goals they have. Its not something that i'd want to encourage a young person doing.

When I was at my leanest and possibly most muscular, I had l carnitine in the list hahaha. I was really extremely active at that time as I’m a hard laborer, in the summer I practice or perform in a water ski show five days a week, and was still lifting. People were asking me if I felt ok being that lean, which idk if I was really all thaaaaaat lean but I did have veins on my abs and could faintly see feathering in my glutes. I felt pretty good I thought! I’ll revisit l carnitine this summer I think

Hunger is good 😊 if you can build up your metabolism it’ll mean that the next time you diet calories won’t have to drop so low. Reversing out of a diet phase is mentally tough though - you gotta do it fairly gradually, which I think you’re doing a great job of so far!

I decided to reduce my weekly reta from 2mg to 1.5mg. I think i can safely lower it to see if i still need that much of it. I built up my dose over time to get lean, now i think its time to do the reverse.

It should make hitting my calorie gaol easier without resorting to Tim Tams. :LOL:

Hunger is good 😊 if you can build up your metabolism it’ll mean that the next time you diet calories won’t have to drop so low. Reversing out of a diet phase is mentally tough though - you gotta do it fairly gradually, which I think you’re doing a great job of so far!
thats what im hoping. Im still not gaining much weight even on 2000 cals. Which is quite high for me. Hopefully the next cutting phase can be on much higher calories!

Hip thrusts are a good one. Good if your gym has good hip thrust machines. Mine are crap but it beats the effort of setting up a bench and a barbell etc.

Its only 5 kgs. I didnt want to get ankle or knee issues. Just enough to keep the hips strong!

It was so easy, i just threw the tub in my bag and thats it!

Weighed in at 47.7kg on friday, which is a kilo up from last week. As I said last week my weight was up and down so maybe last week was an abnormal low. In any case, I'm not worried. Its not a HUGE gain but will keep at my target cals this week and see what happens. If I gain above that 100-200g target, I'll pull back calories.

Most of friday was travelling for my weekend away. So i didnt get to do pilates like normal.

I walked a lot while away, sightseeing. I did dance a good couple hours Friday so there's my cardio - and cause of my sore legs the rest of the weekend!:ROFLMAO:

Saturday - Recovering

I had a big sleep in to recover from the late night. Did lots of walking and hiking to get the blood moving, but it was still a pretty relaxed day.

Sunday - Push

An afternoon session instead of early morning. Felt tough after a tiring weekend with pretty poor nutrition but still got it done!

I had a big sleep in to recover from the late night. Did lots of walking and hiking to get the blood moving, but it was still a pretty relaxed day.

I agree with @Panda22 the weight fluctuations are likely just water and sodium. There’s no way you gained 1kg of fat per week. Should stabilise once you’re back to your regular routine & foods/ diet 😊 I wouldn’t stress!

I did my best to track all those foods.

You can get creative. Using a dominoes pizza in my fitness pal for the restaurant version. It might not be exact, but it’s going to be within ballpark range.

i try to keep the water intake consistent.

I’m a typical water bottle girlie. Always leave the house with a filled up massive water bottle. I drink a fair bit all day.

I was actually super motivated to train. Put all those calories to good use!

it was really only the Friday that was untracked.

And an untracked day doesn’t mean I throw the baby out with the bath water.

It’s generally either I can’t accurately guess the calories, or just don’t feel like it.

I still make roughly the same food choices and eat a similar volume of food.

The Reta sort of stops me being able to pig out.

Yeah it does. Like a said before, we often don’t see the changes.

Sort of helped that I’ve been more confident to dress in outfits that show my back, midriff and shoulders more. 😊
