Hi everyone,

I’ve recently started working out again (1 month) and after quite a bit of research I’ve decided it’s time to pop my cherry and hop onto my first cycle.

I’ve gotten quite a lot of inspiration and read quite a few posts on the forums, especially after seeing @Dadbod1996 transformation. You guys across all the threads have amazed me at how positive, non judgemental, and encouraging you are whilst also offering such valuable advice which is not common at all on any other forum I’ve come across so I really am excited to share my journey and would appreciate any and all advice possible.

After reading through the posts I guessed the best thing to do is just start a log and see where we go from there. I’ll write up a bit about myself, my goals and where I stand right now and on the next post of this thread I’ll write up my plan on how I think would be best to go about the next few months.

Age: 24
Height: 5’9
Weight: 257 lbs (117kg) - dropped 13lbs (6kg) in the last 30 days

Prior Lifting Experience:

I started working out when I was 13/14 for a few months. Went to a boys school in a rough part of the city so there was a lot of investment in sports to shift focus away from drugs/violence so we had an amazing gym we’d use at lunch breaks. I learn good form but never really pushed myself much and didn’t really stick with it after I moved schools.

Ballooned from 175lbs (80kg) to 242lbs (110kg) during the first year and half of Covid. I returned to the gym after many years but had no structured plan and wasn’t following a diet. Only ended up working out for 2 months but made progress such as benching from 154lbs (70kg) to 225lbs (100kg).

Early 2023 I was weighing 253lbs (115kg). Again I didn’t really go on a diet other than the first 2 weeks keto at 1800 calories but I stayed consistently working out for 3 months and was the strongest I’d been in my life. Dropped weight down to 225lbs over those months and grew my bench from a 200lbs (90kg) max to a 308lbs (140kg) max - sorry for always using bench as an indicator but it’s my favourite lol. I got addicted to the gym and the progress but I had a new business that I had just opened which I had to make some sacrifices for such as moving away from home and dedicating most waking hours to it. If I went back in time I still would’ve made time for working out some way or another but I guess I wasn’t that mature at the time and didn’t look at my health as my main priority.

April 2025:

The days leading up to April I realised it was time for a drastic change. I’m now a new dad, my business has been running a few years, I genuinely feel like I matured a lot and realised that the greatest asset I have is my body. I’ve got unhealthy friends who are very wealthy and friends that have their dream body and not much else and it’s the latter that always seem to be much happier and content with life.

Ive been on a 1500 deficit consisting of:

1550 calories - 204g protein, 70g fat, 28g carbs

I’ve averaged 11k daily steps the last 5 weeks compared to a 3.5k daily step average for the 5 months before that.

I’ve been weight training about 5-6 days a week this month. I’ve never been on such an aggressive calorie deficit so haven’t ever felt as exhausted and weak as I do now but I’ve been able to regain some of my strength on most lifts.

Flat Bench Max - 264lbs/120kg (220lbs/100kg beginning of month)

Incline Bench Max - 231lbs/105kg (176lbs/80kg beginning of month)

Barbell Squat - 352lbs/160kg (264lbs/120kg beginning of month)

Bent over Row - 242lbs/110kg (132lbs/60kg beginning of month)

This last month I’ve not only lost 13lbs/6kg but I’ve felt a big change in my mindset and relationship with my body and food. I’ve become obsessed with learning about my body now and improving myself and genuinely feel shocked and sickened at how for so many years I viewed food as such a big part of happiness and enjoyment rather than just a means for survival.

Although I’ve always thought about using gear every time I’d touch weights, I always knew I didn’t have the discipline or commitment or even basic knowledge to begin with. This time has felt different and I know I’ve made mindset changes for life but I was still hesitant because I know I have a high body fat percentage so risk of sides. However, after some more research and seeing stories and transformations on this forum I realised it was time to take the leap so I ordered the gear and got some pre-cycle bloods done.

I’ll start the log in the next post.

@SullyLifts that is great you are learning so much about your body.
you make great points on how we use food as a treat. almost like how we train our dogs to do what we want with treats.
would love to see you start a log or make this one into a log with pics

Welcome to EVO @SullyLifts!
Seems like you are on the right track with all except the gear. Steroids build muscle and should be used for that purpose. You have enough bodyfat on you that you won't need to worry about losing much muscle unless your not training properly and not getting enough protien. Get your bodyfat down to 12% or so and then consider using gear to help put some muscle on. This is especially true if it's your first cycle.
If you want help losing fat then try some sarms or GH in conjunction with retatrutide. That is how you will burn off that fat.
How many pounds more of fat do you want to lose? Your cals are pretty low. Your not gonna be able to drop much more without having issues.

Thank you, I understand where you’re coming from and I was thinking myself that I should use my first cycle, where I’m most sensitive, for a bulk rather than during a cut, but after reading a few transformation stories I thought it might be worth a try?

I’m wanting to lose 70 lbs of fat and although I’ve been having a total calories of 1500, I’m thinking of switching to a 2000 calorie keto diet plus long fasting with as much fasted cardio possible to speed up the fat burning process.

After getting my bloods and seeing I’ve got low natural testosterone it’s only made me more certain I need to hop on the gear. I feel like I have a good opportunity to recomp and gain more muscle, helping to speed my metabolism, whilst also being able to be in an aggressive deficit and melt as much fat off as possible and not feeling mentally $h*t.

To be completely honest as well, I never really thought about sarms because the people around me don’t really use it so I’ve not been exposed to it much and I’ve already bought the gear and have it on hand now. That’s why although now I’m thinking that might have been an even better route, I still really want to complete the cycle because I don’t want to waste what I’ve already got now.

Make sure once you get into ketosis to increase your sodlium levels so your getting at least 5000mg per day. Ketosis will flush your sodium out to dangerous levels.

Welcome Sully, your on the right track congrats on getting a log going.
I'll be following along.
Calories are to low, keto is definitely the better option.
Calorie deficit and low fats is basically chemical castration. Your body needs fats to produce hormones.
Start with low test if you do, 100mg a week max. And from day dot an AI if your E2 is already high.
Also low dose Reta by far will serve you better then steroids at this stage.

Ive been doing keto for last 3 months, if there's anything I can help you with let me know.

I feel like I have a good opportunity to recomp and gain more muscle, helping to speed my metabolism, whilst also being able to be in an aggressive deficit and melt as much fat off as possible and not feeling mentally $h*t.
Recomp is not the situation you are in. A recomp is when your 10-12%BF and you bulk and end up 15-18%bf and then "recomp to trim off a bit of fat and tighten back up.
If your talking about 70lbs you need to lose then you need to diet and I think your initial strategy needs to change. You cals are way too low for where your at currently.
If your test is that low then get on TRT. 120mg/wk to start. Your estrogen is high because your carrying a lot of bodyfat. When you start taking test your gonna convert even more so your prob gonna need an AI.

This is what I would suggest:
Test 120mg/week to start. After 6 weeks get bloods and we can adjust
Arimidex .5mg/wk to start
Retatrutide 1mg/wk to start. Can increase as needed after 4-5 weeks. We can guide you.

This is what I would not suggest:
Taking any test above a TRT dose. You are in no condition for a full on cycle. You will have too many issues until you drop BF.
You are not going to gain any muscle on 1500cals/day.

Start a training and diet log. Below is a link to my current log. In my sig there are links to previous logs. You can use the format if you like. Update every day with diet/training. Commit to doing it. We will guide you into a good fat loss plan.

Please share pictures of you face blurred, no matter what you look like. We need to see your base. EVO family is a no judgement zone, you have nothing to worry about.

Cycle
You should not use high doses of testosterone with hcg especially without an Ai due to your high bodyfat.
I suggest 150mgs testosterone/week with 5-6mgs aromasin, no hcg. Add hcgenerate to boost natural testosterone (https://www.hcgenerate.com)
I would also add retatrutide 2mgs/week to start off, it would help you a lot:

Please share more day to day information with us.

Diet, Training, Cardio
Diet, please share foods and meals and when you eat them, macros would be good
Training, please share actual exercises reps sets and weights, as you go especially get stronger
cardio how much do you do? when etc
If you don't log what you eat or train now, open NOTES on phone and start recording it there and paste here. Very easy.

supplements
what digestive supps you use?
digestive enzymes?
multis?
probiotics?
psyllium husk?

pictures
please share pictures of you face blurred (every 1-2 weeks)
pics of your meals as you go
pics of your training as you go
pics of your supps
pics of your gear

@SullyLifts Bro, let's see some pictures.

I like your story. I grew up pretty rough to father was in and out of prison. My whole life.

But I turned out fine. Even through all my adversity and you will too.

@SullyLifts Bros. This is a good exercise layout.

I'm glad you feel like you've mature and it's time to really get it going.

The unhealthy friends, they're not going to live to enjoy their life.

@SullyLifts first off, you definitely need to get pictures up.

There is no telling where your body fat is at those scales are not accurate. A lot of bodybuilders will show up much higher body fat on those scales so you need pictures. So we can give you an exact number or approximate.

@SullyLifts It definitely put up pictures.

This way. Now, you have something to look back on and we can compare the results you get.

Make sure once you get into ketosis to increase your sodlium levels so your getting at least 5000mg per day. Ketosis will flush your sodium out to dangerous levels.
Nicely done on the pro tip, i learned something new, i had no idea it flushes the levels that low it can be dangerous

Hey guys,

Sorry for disappearing the last few days. I appreciate all the replies and taking all suggestions on board. Going to start logging more consistently from tomorrow with photos of food, workout log, keto strips, etc.

So I took the advice on not to take that high of a test dosage but I’ve decided to go with 250mg rather than the TRT dosage of 125mg. I did my first pin of 125mg on Wednesday and planning to do the next on Sunday. I’ve not taken my AI yet and although I was thinking to take it if symptoms show, I’ll take the advice that since my E2 is already high that I should take it preemptively and will start on Sunday.

I’ve also switched my diet up. This past month it was 1500 calories ( 3 eggs, 400g chicken, 300g broccoli, 3 scoops of protein and some supplements). Ive now made the switch to Keto and after 2 days of doing 23 hour fasts, I’ve started my 48 hour fast which I’ll break on Sunday night. This keto diet is also close 2000 calories with about 145g protein, 165g fat and about 10g carbs.
I’m planning on doing 72-48-24-24 fasts starting from next week.

I used the gym scales for a body fat scan and it came up with 28% but I know they’re notorious for being inaccurate so I’ll put my photos up and leave it to you guys to let me know what you think. (5ft9 255 lbs)

Purchased some N2Gaurd and that arrived today so had that alongside the other supplements I mentioned in the original post.

@SullyLifts wonderful, thank you for sharing :D you look strong in the pic, you have a good muscle base under the bodyfat, and we can bring that out in time.

I do like that you didn't spike up the test perfect.

BUT! your diet, wonderful to hear you're doing 23 hour fasts. Start sharing actual meals with us and training, lets get this log moving.

n2guard, good choice, they support the EVO family for many years, most of us are on it.

Great plan bro. Your moving in the right direction.

@SullyLifts with your body fat high test won't do you any good. so that is a smart choice. fasting is great. EOD fasting will work good for you and is very effective
