Veteran Log PrinceDaddy 2025 Bodybuilding Log (Masters 55+ Competitor)

My Bloodwork from 08/22. This was the Friday before the bodybuilding show.

Previous blood work results from June 20
are here

* LDL improved from previous draw. I would imagine post show when I get back to just TRT and Reta should improve even more to normal range. I did pull the T3 ED to 3 times a week. This too should improve as I remove it post show.
I am on doctor prescribed TRT so I would expect FSH and LH would be low. These are new panels on the BB blood test.
Other values are around the slightly elevated range for me.

View attachment 117823

Hematocrit and Hemoglobin elevated. I did have low dose EQ up to the end. I would imagine that should return to normal levels post show.

My plan is to run blood work again around 11/01. I got back home 2 days ago so I am catching up.
I will be posting results and daily once again. Just catching up.

Thanks all.
For show prep, your bloods are not bad at all, I do think you need a lot more organ liver support supplements than you have in use right now. @PrinceDaddy

Evo peeps & @domestic-supply.com , Thank you for your support!

I have been working my ass off to get an IFBB Pro card. It is getting much harder. This is my 6th year of competing at a national qualifying show. I have missed it by coming in 2nd in 2020 and 2021. Recently it is much harder as the older weight classes are merged for more competition Class A and B will be merged, etc. It also has just become more competitive.
Maybe less competitors during the COVID years.

I do feel like I have gotten better but so have the competitors. I find myself not moving towards the center call out, but the outside. It is frustrating. I do belong on stage. I just have weaknesses that are hard to overcome compared to my fellow competitors. For me I do bring great conditioning but as I mentioned, there still was fat around the belly and glutes. I think another month on the trajectory I may have really pulled it by then. In any case, every competition cycle is a learning opportunity. Also, some growth on my arms, delts and legs would help my frame as I have a blocky structure with wide obliques and short clavicles. I did get the head judge feedback and conditioning and leanness on the midsection is where I need to work.

Here's are the results in each of my classes:

BB Over 40 Welterweight : Placing 7 of 7 (Ended up 6th with medal since competitor did not show in evening)
BB Over 50 Welterweight : Placing 4 of 4
CP Over 55 Class A : Placing 9 of 11
MP Over 50 Class A : Placing 9 of 9
MP Over 55 Class A :Placing 7 of 9

Obviously disappointed a little, but I do think I have been improving over the years. The competition has too. So much for my placing.
In the end I am happy. I ended up going to my cousin's wedding in NJ from Pitt. Went into NYC and enjoyed a week off from the grind. I did eat
whatever my heart desired and it desired.

I will pose a few of my show pictures and my thoughts later in the week. I have no goals for the post show phase. I did return to the gym this week. I'm 3 work outs in already. I'm having fun not having to grind for a show. I am not fasting for this phase. I actually cooked my normal ground beef 96/4 bb meal this evening. I did have some chips on the side as my diet is not so strict for now.

At this point, I am working out because I always enjoyed working out. May try to find some new exercises that give me a stretch. No intention of lifting super heavy. My muscles and joints are not ready. I can see my belly and body filling back out.

Compound wise, I am planning on only
Test Cyp 200mg weekly
Reta 2mg weekly

Life is good. I competed. I belong. I placed in 2 categories. I'm still hungry for more, but I will save it for next year.

@PrinceDaddy EVO family love and support your way :D Thanks for sharing all that detail. 6 years grinding at this level takes serious commitment and it shows you still have fire left in you. Missing out on the pro card stings, especially with classes being merged and competition getting deeper, but you’re putting yourself out there and that matters. The callout position is tough to swallow, but you’re right that conditioning is one of your strengths and the judge feedback gives you something specific to lock in on. Arms, delts, and legs bringing more balance to the blocky frame is smart to focus on. Taking time off for your cousin’s wedding and then coming back fresh is healthy for your head and body. You know you belong on that stage, and even if placings weren’t where you wanted this year, it’s all momentum for the next push.

Agreed

At this point I'd ignore the pro card (and save on all those entry fees too lol) and just work on, as you have to date, being a better you

Thursday : Traps / Triceps

Wake Up @ 183
Post Workout @ 179
Step Count: 17K

No more contest and cycle tracking as I am in a health and mental phase. As mentioned the next 2 months I plan on just Test Cyp 200mg weekly + Reta 2mg weekly. I am wondering if I should add a little deca at some point. I know the Masteron and Winstrol likely has dried out my joints. I was able to go for hill side hike on one of the trails in the poconos for the wedding I was at last week. My knees just struggled walking up and down the rocky paths. Was able to do it, just felt every step. Would like to see how I feel at the end of October and most of the androgens should be out of my system.

Good work out this morning. I am just enjoying going. I am less focused on core and abs. More on the specific body parts and warming up.
I keep to my 4AM workout schedule. Get to the gym by 4:30. Warm up with some abs and stretches and then usually get to the primary body parts by 5:30. Around 8, I start a 35 min cardio cycle on stepper. Get home by 9, then go walk with my friend for about 5-6 miles. I enjoy it as long as it is not super hot. The heat is a little mixed now, today was hot, the earlier part of the week much cooler and tolerable.

My legs are peeled, I still have belly fat. You can see my serrates. I wonder on the trajectory if another 4-6 weeks would have pulled it in some more. Not sure.

Over the years, the post show binge is real. In some years, my edema has been horrible. My ankles and feet get swollen. I have seen my weight go up 30 to 40 lbs. This is super unhealthy and quite dangerous. All this diet suppression comes to the forefront, especially when you know you are heading into offseason and are done for the year. You just want to taste and eat everything. Pizza, chips, ice cream sure. All the sugar and salt along with the carbs and fat wreck your system. I do believe the Reta his helping, but I am still binging or overeating. It is less than previous years
I usually compete around 165-172, so I would weigh around there Aug 26 or so. This is wake up weight.

I seem to be doing much better this year. Hoping to stay in the 180s.

I am back to my normal workout days. I am need to shorten my work out. During the prep, I would just want to target each body part in certain ways and go thru warm ups and several movements. At this point, I just don't need it. Also the ab and core work are important to keep the waist in check but I don't need to chisel it as my gorilla hair is slowly growing back in. I also don't want to go super heavy since I am still filling out.
Also, just want to save the intensity for next year. At this point, I just want to keep the practice and some level of strength. I am thinking 2 plate (225) upper body presses and 3 plate lower body squats (315). Also avoid or use very light weight with any movement that might thicken the waist.

Happy to be back. Blessed to continue!

You’re handling this a lot better than before. Staying in the 180s after show time is a solid sign you’ve got more control on the rebound this year. Keeping workouts tighter, not overdoing the volume, and staying away from heavy waist-thickening lifts is the right call right now. Your numbers for presses and squats are plenty to hold strength while the body settles. Just keep walking, keep the diet in check, and let the offseason build happen slow and steady.

You the man bro. Great work

I have to admit, I am eating food like a fiend. It is a brief time to enjoy. I am enjoying for sure. I am still getting to the gym and getting my walk in. I'm missing some logging days. Just have been busy. Will try to log on the regular.

I have been paring my work outs down. Instead 2 or 3 exercises to work the quads one good one is sufficient with maybe a rotation week to week. It's hard to figure it out when you have been grinding as I had. I'm also having to just set a time lime. So say, no matter what I am stopping at 12:30. It's all good. At this point, I need to fill back out and also just get the motivation back.

Biggest issue is still some fat on the belly and distention. I do think this is my best posing for this class so far. Posing or flexing for this class is different from bb and cp. On Wednesday, they usually run all the CP classes first, take a break, then run all the MP classes. So, I would pose around 9am first, then for mp around 11:30AM. It's a long day, it repeats with a similar break in the evening show. Sometimes hard to get as pumped and primed for the 2nd time on stage.

Bodybuilding coming up next when I get a chance.

You look really good in the pics :D @PrinceDaddy You actually came in amazing form!
Weight swing from 186 down to 180 shows you’re moving a ton of water and glycogen with that step count and training. food intake is high but that’s not a bad thing right now if you’re filling back out and aiming to get motivation steady again. trimming down the quad work to one main movement is smart, especially when you’re busy and just need the essentials covered. setting a hard stop time for training also keeps you from burning out and gives structure to the day.
posing shots look solid for men’s physique, midsection is always the tricky spot but your presentation is improving. difference in posing between mp and cp is big so good that you’re practicing both with the long breaks in mind. timing and pump management on show day is always tough but you’ll get sharper with each run. once you shift over to bb you’ll already have the discipline from these classes locked in.

I'd actually say the biggest issue is posing. Consider working with a posing coach for a session or two. It's HOW you present what you have (which includes hiding faults) rather than belly fat.

Just by way of example you look to be leaning back which makes you taper up when seen by the judges and audience

Weight is coming back on. Still overeating. Will have to clean up my diet at some point, but will continue to enjoy for the moment. Workouts have been good, no pressure now not having in goals in mind. Strength is coming back slowly. I am fuller, I have put on some body fat. Just want to keep good work out habits while I get my food cravings out of my system.

Here are some of my bodybuilding pictures. This is my favorite class. If I had to choose I would choose BB. I enjoy the posing and everything about the class. However, I am a small guy when I am conditioned. As mentioned previously, I still had some body fat on the belly, glutes and obliques. If I could add an inch on my arms and delts, I would look that much better. I have tried low rep, high rep, low volume, high volume, heavy and light. Feel like I have tried just about everything and feel like it is just a genetic limit. I do feel like I lose a little size as I bring in conditioning. I would lose some of my leg conditioning but look a little bigger up top and more softer overall look,

Happy with the result. Just trying to create a better version of myself each year. Progress not regress.

Weight is bouncing back quick with the extra food and steps staying high, no surprise you’re looking fuller even with a bit more body fat. Training steady without strict goals is a good way to reset, and strength climbing back shows the base is still there. Pics sound solid, bodybuilding class fits you well, and with more width on delts and arms it’ll round out your frame even more. Conditioning always pulls a little size off, but each year you’re stacking better versions of yourself. :D @PrinceDaddy

Insulin and large dose of hgh is most likely the only way to get through the genetic limits. I would really consider thet and doing 3500 cals per day. Get ahold of one the trainer mods on here to help you out a cycle together if you've never used insulin. It might be a good idea to take an entire year off and to just grow since your in your mod 50's it will be your final shot.

It's a long day, it repeats with a similar break in the evening show. Sometimes hard to get as pumped and primed for the 2nd time on stage.

Bodybuilding coming up next when I get a chance.
@PrinceDaddy the physique actually looked killer. It looks like the stomach was tightened up some to me. You’re doing awesome man keep after it.

Here are my mens physique pictures:

Saturday : Legs

Wake Up @ 190
Post Workout @ 185
Step Count: 8K

I have been consistent with my gym sessions. Although I'm not pressing hard at the moment. Just keeping the habit, socializing. Also, stacking a little on base weights. I want to get back to pressing 225 with the upper body and 315 with the lower body. At this point, its 135 and 225 respectively. Instead of making the big jump, I'm doing 5 lb increments up to 40 lbs on top, so just 5 lbs shy of my goal. Keeps the sets interesting. Also, my motivation is not high. I still feel like my joints and body are getting used to the off season 1 month later. I really would like to focus on my weak areas. Lift like a bodybuilder, strength not being the focus rather the muscle activation being the desire.

Yesterday was weird. I had serious DOMS in the evening during sleep and earlier today at the gym. It was my upper traps. I normally do traps and tris on Thursday. On Friday I do abs and biceps. My biceps have been more unassisted pull up as of late. I have 6 different hand positions on the pull up bar. I do 3 sets of 10 at each position. Towards the end my rep count drops depending on the challenge of the grip. I think I must have stretched the back traps with some of my pulls. It's feeling better now, but just whoa....

On the personal front, kiddo is off in college in Cleveland Ohio. She seems to be doing well. I had been applying to jobs but have not had much success. I had previous co-worker reach out to me to build an application for them that had been previously done in Wordpress. Looks like I may be able to build them a better IT solution and be independent contractor. My background had an older tech stack that is obsolete. Also, the past few years, there were areas in the database where I was still active, but was mostly delegating work to off shore developers and ensuring work was completed to meet the business need. This was Oracle, Spring Framework, Java and Javascript. These are dated now. So, I am learning or going thru tutorials for PostgresSQL, Django, and Python. Tech keeps changing every few years, if your company does not invest in the new tech you get left behind. I am making progress, just need to learn the essentials and then start the project. Excited to do so. hoping it opens other doors for me.

Thanks all. Keep hustling....

Weights are moving in the right direction with those 5 lb jumps, smart way to build confidence and keep form tight instead of chasing big plates right away. DOMS in the traps from all those pull up grip variations makes sense, that’s a lot of volume and you probably hit fibers you usually don’t, good sign the muscles are working. Off season joints take time to settle but you’re doing the right thing focusing on activation over load, that’ll carry you back to 225 and 315 steady.
On the personal side, cool that your kid is off doing well and good on you for diving into the new tech, sounds like you’ve got a solid chance to carve out work for yourself while still keeping training consistent. :D

Wake Up @ 192
Post Workout @ 187
Step Count: 18K

Sorry for the infrequent posting. Have been busy trying to get back to work. Working a side contracting gig. No pay yet, but should pay when I get the minimum project done.

I have been consistent with the gym. I have cut my work out sets and time. Initially my joints were dry, they are better now, but not best. I was basically pressing 135 with the upper body and 225 with the lower body in Sept. The past two weeks I have been getting back to my base weight.
I start with 135 upper body, 225 lower body. Next set add sets jumping 10 then 25, then 35, then 50 for a top set of 235 for upper body and 325 for the lower body. I don't have problem at the top set, but my rep count is low. Maybe 3 to 5.

Weight has edged up. I have gained some body fat. This is the off season. I want to enjoy myself without going on food overdrive. Birthday is in a few weeks. Will be 57. I'm eating a mixture of foods that I have been craving with my normal foods

Excited about the Olympia this weekend. Hopefully some inspiration to get more focused.

You’re doing the right thing easing back into heavier weights after those joint issues. Keep building strength slowly with top sets of 3–5 reps but add one lighter back-off set of 8–10 to drive volume without stressing the joints too much.

At 192 and eating freely you’re in a good spot for a short off-season push, just keep protein near 180–200 g and keep fat moderate so the weight gain stays clean. Enjoy your birthday and the Olympia for motivation, then tighten the plan again after the show weekend.

2025 Mr. Olympia Lineup For All Divisions

Mr. Olympia

  • William Bonac (Netherlands).
  • Tonio Burton (USA).
  • Hadi Choopan (Iran).
  • Brandon Curry (USA)
  • Samson Dauda (UK).
  • Martin Fitzwater (USA).
  • Regan Grimes (Canada),
  • Dorian Haywood (USA).
  • Sasan Heirati (UK).
  • Jordan Hutchinson (USA).
  • Urs Kalecinski (Germany).
  • Derek Lunsford (USA).
  • Rubiel Mosquera (Colombia).
  • Chinedu Obiekea (UAE).
  • Chenglong Shen (China).
  • Behrooz Tabani (Iran)
  • Vitalii Ugolnikov (Brazi).
  • Nick Walker (USA).
  • Brett Wilkin (USA).
  • Akim Williams (USA)
I think either Nick Walker, Derek Lunsford, or Samson Dauda will take it. Hard to say since it just depends on who peaks right. Comes in full and dry and poses like a beast. I think Nick Walker/Derek/Hadi fit the category as it is open bodybuilding as they are just massive. The open class is a mass class. There is attention to physique aesthetics, but the classic physique class is where it is more important. You just need to see them all on stage together in that first call out. The size, conditioning and posing will separate that group. Weakness in body parts will show. I like any of them to win, but would love to see Nick win as he just seems to really want it. Whomever wins will have earned it.

212 Olympia

  • Mazin Al Rahbi (Oman).
  • Vitor Alves Porto De Oliveira (Brazil).
  • Radoslav Angelov (Bulgaria).
  • Kerrith Bajjo (USA).

  • Giuseppe Zagarella (Italy).
I think Keone will win this class. Same as open in terms of what the judges. Mass monster under 212 or basically guys who are around my height. I don't know much about the other competitors. I think I have seen Courage locally as he is from Texas.

  • Patrick Teutsch (Germany).
  • Kai Wang (China).
  • Kellen Wilson (Canada).
  • Piotr Wojtowicz (Poland).
  • Anand Yadav (India).
  • Mustafa Yildiz (Turkey).
I'm very interested in this class. There is an opening since Cbum has retired. Mike Sommerfield and Ramon have come close the past few years. I know everyone is supposed to heighted and weighed again due to some standing hair controversy. I think they should make sure it is accurate. This is really too big of a class. It should be just 20 competitors at most. It is an honor to be on that stage and they have earned it, but I believe they are going to make it tougher going forward. I don't have a favorite, I'm anxious to see what the winning physique looks like.

Another crazy large class. Should really be less. I still like Ryan Terry physique. I don't think this class should be a mass class. It does need to b be aesthetic. A nice Adonis belt with chiseled abs and balanced chest/arms and back.

These are the best in the world. I think they set the judging standard for the class in the IFBB and NPC.

Looking forward to it. Many new names and folks to follow. One day I would like to go as a spectator and watch the show and get the VIP package.

You definitely earned some down time and fun foods brother

Wake Up @ 198
Post Workout @ 194
Step Count: 23K

I'm back. Apologies for infrequent posting. Just have been super busy. Took two trips last week. One for a wedding in NJ and another trip for my daughter's college parent weekend visit in CLE. We were supposed to return Sunday evening, but due to the govt shutdown the flight got cancelled. Ended up driving from CLE to DFW. Super tired yesterday.

With the trips and travel all complete I am now ready to re-focus. These past two months. I have returned to off season strength..

For upper body I generally do
bar x 10
135 x 10
185 x 10
205 x 10
235 x 8
185 x 10
135 x 10
bar x 10

For lower body, banded down
bar x 10
135 x 10
225 x 10
245 x 10
275 x 10
295 x 8
325 x 8
345 x 7
375 x 6
395 x 3
425 x 1
225 x 10
135 x 10

I like that I'm doing 2 plates on the upper body and close to 4 plates on the lower body. Last week only worked out twice with the travel.
I am focusing on full range of motion exercises. My intent is to feel something in the intended muscle. Trying to stay away from anything that would thicken my waist. Decided I won't bench squat and try to stick to full range ATG squats.

At this point, I will begin cleaning up the diet. Not completely, but significantly. The last two months I have enjoyed all the off season foods.
The halloween candy is gone.

I have only been doing TRT (200mg Test Cyp weekly). I dropped the reta 2 weeks ago. I am planning on blood work draw sometime in Dec.
I will likely start the Reta back in Dec. Not high dose, just 1 or 2mg weekly. I have a vial of Test/Deca blend, I may implement it after the blood work draw. At this point, I want my system to be clear and receptors to reset for Feb 2026.

Feeling a little like an old man, I am 57 now, but I am ready to see what next year can be for me. Everything is a learning experience.
Will try to post more frequently as now I can re-focus.

It's never fun dealing with travel headaches like that. I'm glad you got it done for sure. And you're putting on some big weight on there. @PrinceDaddy

Wednesday : Upper body presses

Wake Up @ 197
Post Workout @ 192
Step Count: 17K

Core ab work to start. I heard somebody suggesting vacuums with planks, 3 30 second planks can help with abdominal distention. I may try at some point. So, with today's presses, the max weight is 235, I'm not getting 10 reps. More like 4-8 reps at the top set. I drop set from there with 185,135, bar.

I kind of think of last week as a deload. I am inflamed a bit due to diet and the long drive. I can see a little water edema near the sock line. I'm glad to be focused now on eating healthy and training more seriously. Cooking my meals once again. Ground beef 93/7 with bell peppers and onions.

Talking to my friends at the gym. Many are trying peptides and getting great results. I have used a few but would like to explore more next year.

Getting ready!

Thursday : Traps / Tris / Dumbbell RDLs

Wake Up @ 199
Post Workout @ 192
Step Count: 17K

Getting back to my routine. It's funny friends at the gym are asking me when is the next show. Of course if you know me, its July & August 2026. I only do two shows, they are national masters shows. My off season look is bit larger, in my mind fatter and fluffier, but to the untrained eye I suppose you just look bigger. I am looking forward to dropping some weight and really starting a strength wave. No anabolics other than the doctor prescribed TRT. I think I will add low dose Reta in December. After the blood work in Dec, I may run one of my Test/Deca blends.

How I look today. A fluffy little gorilla?

Strong upper work today and the presses look solid with that 235 top weight even if reps dipped.
Controlling inflammation by cleaning the diet back up is the right move, have you considered fasting? @PrinceDaddy

You look good in the pics with thick big arms and the off season size is clearly there :D @PrinceDaddy
Staying on TRT for now and adding low dose retatrutide in December is a good idea but I would add some eq to it imo.

Low dose reta is a great addition, your looking great for just TRT.

Good step count too

Friday : Abs / Biceps

Getting back into the swing of things. Moving my TRT injection day to Fridays now. Ready to get back to routine. This week is more about getting back to the workouts and a normalized diet. I would say Sept/Oct were 70% whatever / 30 % healthy. From mid Nov I plan to flip it to 70 % healthy / 30 % treats. Mostly keeping the weekends flexible and eating prep meals during the week.

I'm thinking of using a test/deca blend. I have a vial of 300mg and 400mg each. Was thinking of doing 1ml weekly after I do a bloodwork draw in December

Getting back into the swing of things. Strength is returning. Interesting in that the week of of Halloween weight range is 190-195. This week so far
193-198. I always seem to gain weight on breaks. I don't think I overdid it, it just seems to work out that way. In any case, this weekend I just did not feel like eating out. It is supposed to be my free meals, but I'm just tired of eating out from last week. Also funny that you don't feel your far while on break, but a few days back in the gym and you really start feeling the extra weight.

Glad to be back and more focused now.

Good update and strength coming back fast is a positive :D
You always pop up a few lbs on breaks so that 193-198 swing is normal! @PrinceDaddy

For upper body I generally do
bar x 10
135 x 10
185 x 10
205 x 10
235 x 8
185 x 10
135 x 10
bar x 10

For lower body, banded down
bar x 10
135 x 10
225 x 10
245 x 10
275 x 10
295 x 8
325 x 8
345 x 7
375 x 6
395 x 3
425 x 1
225 x 10
135 x 10

Great to see you back brother! At 57 we crave your updates or at least I do, you're an inspiration with me at 49 years now. 2 plates on upper body and 4 plates on lower is a goal I'd like to get back to myself.

8 reps of 235 is amazing bro well done and 425 x 1 is pretty nuts.

You will snap back into gear quick brother no doubt. Good choice not eating out just because you had a free pass, means you want to stay on track and the grind is your priority 💪

First back work out in two weeks. I feel pretty good. 130 lb dumb bell rows. May have been a few reps short, but still right back at it. First time in while I felt some intensity. A little push a little shove.
good 1st back workout is in :D push it hard @PrinceDaddy

Feeling good. This year I am changing some of my leg training up. I am not going to bench or box squat. I am also thinking of not wearing a belt on the squats. Right now I seem to be progressing well. I do like doing the reverse band so banded down I like rising against the band as I come up. I got up to 425 banded, and did 2 partial squats. I did not reach parallel. I'm hoping to build on this and get to 5-10 reps near the parallel.
That's the goal. It's a work in progress now!

Keep building the reps toward parallel and the no belt approach will tighten your core fast. :D I can see you tightening up this year @PrinceDaddy

2 thoughts

1. I only wear my proper belt on my top set. So, ignoring my power belly sticking out, it's a kinda strong core
2. BUT as you DO compete watch to keep the core tight. Maybe wear a support type belt (velcro and elastic)

Nicer work on the 425
