Hello I heard that for fat loss the best way to lose as much fat as possible is,by skipping the post workout shake completely
That means no carbs and protein after workout but eat 1 hour after a real meal only.
I have all information from Gary ward from BIOS 3 training on youtube heres the video link
What you guys think about this topic???
In the video he said pre and post workout shake do not matter!!! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8aW6V2HMfsg

All that matters is total calories per day. I personally like to consume the majority of my daily calories just before and after my workout.

I know it is hard to believe but not everyone has a shake after their workout. I haven't had a shake after my workout in many years. you don't need it.

doesn't matter if you are bulking or not.

the whole getting in protein during a window is a myth. selling protein bars and shakes is big business.. give me a sweet potato over a fucking shake anyday.. problem is you can't put a sweet potato in your pantry for a few days without it going bad, but a protein bar will last years lol. preservatives

Haven't had protein shake for at least 5 months post workout
just eat a big meal within an hour of finishing your workout

this

i do a lot of fasting, train fasted quite often and go a few hours without eating, and have scattered meals throughout the day due to my work schedule...
total calories is all that counts, if you want to lose bf, train your ass off (i use a lot of supersets) shorten your rest periods, and take in less than you put out, you have to be in a deficit

I still have a Post Workout Shake with only about 15 grams of Carbs.
But that's because I'm more Comfortable eating many Small Meals throughout the Day (6 to 8).
Then trying to put it all into 4 or 5 Meals................................... JP
P.S.
I will still have a Post Workout Meal with an Hour or so after I finished my Workout.
P.S.S.
You Guys will find out after the Age of 50, smaller Meals just sit better in your Stomach.
I can't Eat like I did when I was Younger, no matter the amount of Digestive Enzymes & Probiotics I add to my Diet.

There is a lot of validity to the video. Think about it. Cutting a shake after a workout could cut a couple hundred calories or more per day without any other diet changes. Getting in protein immediately post workout is a myth, so just concentrate on your whole food meal an hour or so later

I don't necessarily believe you have to be in a deficit to lose bf. If that were the case how would it be possible to lose bf AND gain muscle at the same time? Idk. I think nutrient timing is pretty important. My 2 cents

i also agree with this. post workout i usually have a fruit and then eat about 45min after that a basic meal (veg, meat and carb). whole foods are always best but i do consume a shake a day. mainly because eating 4500-5500 cals a day is tiring and at some point id rather just drink my cals. i always throw in a beet, 2 carrots and spinach in with every shake

i don't believe being anabolic and catabolic at the same time is good for the body

I don't recommend any carbs immediately post workout. Save the carbs for at least 30 min after workout and/or post workout protein shake if you take one.

Without the use of AAS, there is almost no way to add muscle if you are in a caloric deficit. If you are eating less than what your basal metabolic rate is, where does the extra energy come from to build new muscle tissue? As far as eating a shake post-workout, it's not necessary. I usually fast for the majority of the day and eat after I train because I hate the feeling of working out on a stomache of food. After a workout, a shake is an easy way to rehydrate and take in a good amount of protein, that's why I do it.

Absolutely the truth

Naturally a meal within an hour postworkout is best...having said that if your not able to get that full meal in. ..then I think a shake is nessacary. Like stated above the majority of my carbs come from my pre and post workout food.

Id take a shake just low carb for sure

Can you elaborate? I don't really think when I'm doing this I'm in a catabolic state

people who seriously deplete cals before a show but still work out like demons and do 2hours cardio a day. I've witnessed this in a couple shows and the metabolic damaged that ensued after the shows. there was a guy who was 240lbs. cut his cals to 1800 a day. 2 hours cardio and 1.5 hours of weights. after the show he ballooned up. didn't see him again for 2 years after at a different show. said after he ballooned out he couldn't lose weight for the life of him. so anabolic and catabolic cannot coexist together in my mind
