After almost a decade battling auto-immune disorder, this little yogi is embarking on a three-month intensive program to become strong AF by a particular birthday that's creeping up (bringing me closer to 50 than 40, yikes).

I've never really done any weight training, but this week I sauntered my (flat) butt into a gym, signed up, and have just done my very first weights workout. It was daunting, especially given I had no idea what I was doing and no idea what weight to put on anything or how many reps to do or how the machines even worked, but you have to start somewhere, right (thanks YouTube for all the guidance).

Training suggestions are super dooper welcome BTW. Especially regarding how to build a booty worth watching as it exits the room.

It's been a huge journey of intense research and even more intense self-discipline to pull myself out of the monstrous fatigue and muscle weakness of autoimmune to reach this point -- so I see the next three months as a challenging gift!
Current weight is around 56kg. I'm not sure what is a realistic goal in terms of kilograms of muscle to be gained, but at this stage any gain is a good gain.

Low appetite is a huge issue still, but I've managed to hit 100g to 120g of quality protein every day across 4 - 5 meals (including by adding WPI), alongside at least 9g of creatine, for a little while now. Together, this has been life-changing already even without training.

Now excuse me for now, I gotta go demolish another round of protein.

Welcome to the evo family board! Good got you. Doing it solo brace and admirable. Live your start. Is there a trainer at the gym you can get a session or 2 investment to give you some schooling on how machines/equipment works. That will give you confidence & help you use proper form and not injure yourself. But u tube def helps. Pictures worth a thousand words. Often if your unsure gym members might help. I always help someone who asks. For me weight training Is a lifestyle you gotta continue it to keep your gains. Your on right track good protein. Do you have a layout of how many days a week or upper body lower body workouts? Im not a personal trainer but Maybe a circuit training and doing a full body workout and do a machine that works each body part to start till you learn form a machines how they work. Like chest, back biceps triceps shoulders legs including hamstring quads. That kinda a deal. Keep going baby steps for now. You got this! 💪🌸👍💕

OK so! thank you for the welcome. I turn 46 in three months which I think is a great time frame to see some changes? I literally just started training -- two weeks in and my God welcome to some kind of fresh hell of soreness! Now onto second cycle of Sassy's TB500 and BCP157.

The first cycle was the difference between full body pain all the damn time, to being able to get my arse into a gym. INCREDIBLE. Within the first week I noticed a difference but within a month, the difference in inflammation was like night and day. It's been the single greatest thing I have ever done for my health. Just got my pack from Sassy's and will kick off a second round... considering a round of HCG -- keen to hear thoughts on that from other users.

For macros -- so far, I'm finding it really hard to work out a diet plan for the full 30, 30, 40 split, so I'm focussing on protein first, calories second and the rest is a bonus. I do find it hard to focus on all that bloody counting and tracking but I do understand it's critical to the end goal. Reaching 120g min protein is super hard but if I've not reached it at the end of the day I chug down some WPI before bed. And, the rule is 30 grams down before leaving the house. Any suggestions on a good tracking app also very much welcome (and I'm so grateful for the beautiful supportive environment here where there is so many people willing to offer up great advice!).

Digestive enzymes -- I use Bioptimizers Masszymes (inconsistently yeesh), but I also take magnesium, EPA/DHA, NMN and NR, CoQ10 and a few others for hormonal health given my age. Psyllium and I tend not to be the greatest friends.

Full body picture coming -- this is wildly out of my comfort zone and thank God for the anonymity.

Thank you for the links to the podcast I shall whack them on. Love this!

Babe that back faaaark!!!!!!!!!! Youtube is a goldmine and now I'm there I can't seem to stop. It's my new nightly scroll! Had my first session at the gym this week which took a great deal of fear out of it all. Just knowing how to get started with the equipment is a mammoth step forward. The plan is, 2 x lowers and 2 x uppers per week. First proper legs and glutes yesterday and I know today that I can definitely go harder (which is kind of awesome right?!). Meantime, holy shit your body is incredible. It's bet you've worked effing hard for an effing looong time?

I'm big into yoga as well. it saved my ass bigtime. what kidn of yoga you like? i do bikram and yin
Same! Bikram and Yin are my favourites! Do you have back / hip issues etc? It actually is life changing and it's so hard to articulate how or why when you're asked why. All I know (and you know) is that it just.... IS. And that post-Bikram experience? After you've regained your brain and body function and rehydrated and you're basking in that insane full-body magic? Yeeeees.

LOVE THIS! Thank you! It's scary but I'm here and thank you for the support!
Absolutely understand how you feel, i felt similar when i first started a log and put myself out in the open, 100% it is worth it, we have an awesome community, showing up and being here is the building blocks for success, you definitely got this 💪

Second cycle of @Sassy's Pharmaceuticals BCP157 and TB500 kicks off tomorrow. If feels inadequate to say these are terrific -- I mean, they have literally changed my life. To the point one morning I woke up and just yelled out, "HOLY HAIRDO BATMAN WE ARE BAAAACK!"

First cycle was 8 weeks of 400mcg BCP once daily, and 2.5mg TB500 twice a week, and I plan on repeating the same.

The BCP was a slow build over a couple of weeks, but the TB500 was wildly noticeable after the first, and every shot.

To not be in pain after a decade of seemingly endless pain? THERE ARE NO WORDS -- only one gigantic smile!

Oh and this is my fav cacao smoothie (hello like 60 grams of protein, some healthy fats and some fibre too). WPI, HP greek yoghurt, avocado, almond milk (only cause I can't really stomach milk), nut butter, vanilla extract, prebiotic fibre, stevia powder and my fav ingredient, organic cacao powder. It's 28% protein, and packed with polyphenols, magnesium, potassium and zinc.

If you've never tried cacao nibs good god you don't know what you're missing! They're kind of bitter and oddly satisfying to crunch into against the chill and sweetness of the smoothie. They leave those weird bubble tea balls for dead, IMHO.

That's a real shame (that sounds a bit inadequate doesn't it, but I genuinely think it truly is a shame indeed, to find yourself struggling so deeply with women). I hope you're finding some kind of pathway forwards on it at least.. and I appreciate your openness and honesty -- it's hard to do! We are such wildly different creatures and we never seem to understand each other -- in fact I think most of us spend out days tending to the wounds we've sustained in our interactions with each other, while inadvertently inflicting just as many on others! Most people have honourable intentions, but things go awry so easily don't they, when everyone is carrying around their own shit and trying so hard to protect themselves? Wishing you good things :-)

Urghh well, I have to TAKE one first don't I? I'm really not one for selfies and also, how do you take a photo of your own arse? I feel this is a timer on the phone kind of job, with like, books or some shit holding it in place? And taking photos of myself working out at the gym is also a *verynewthing* to me. Will do one tomorrow I swear. I also have no idea how to change my avatar. So every time I look at this all I can see is my 'before' pancake butt wrapped in my daggiest underwear (chosen on purpose so the after shot will be even more marvellous in comparison you see. The law of contrast and all.) On a positive note, I have gained a tiny bit of strength. And this is very very exciting!

Yes putting up pics can be a little confronting but we are all here to help and not make fun. Keen to see you reach your goals 💪🔥. Please post some food pics as well and let us about your workouts, you will get a lot of support here.
Well, WORKOUT. So today I did my first proper leg/glute workout all by myself. Wanted to sleep in. DID NOT SLEEP IN. What a superstar! Wasn't huge, but it was more than I've done before and my ass /legs tuckered out before I managed to do everything on the list. But I got through four sets each of RDLs, glute bridge, leg press, single leg kickbacks, leg extension and hamstring curls for the win.

@Fitasfuckisthegoal it's a good time to make changes at 46, EVO family will help and guide you along sister :D

Can you post touchdown pic of the pack please?

Have you tried higher protein mod carbs mod fat, 50% protein/10% carbs/40% fat?

You need to add daily probiotics, and daily psyllium husk, and take digestive enzymes with each meal.

Waiting for it thank you for sharing, EVO is a no judgement zone, you have nothing to worry about sister. :D

Please let us know if you like the podcast.
I actually really do run well on higher protein, mod carbs mod fat TBH but I was trying to do the 40 30 30. Do you do that split? I've had a lot of advice to up the carbs and a lot of advice to lower the carbs but for me, I can only manage to get enough protein by lowering the carbs anyway. And my body runs really damn well on grassfed organic steak. Probiotics are ok for me -- I've tried almost every brand. Also (TMI but I am an oversharer), I'll do a probiotic retention enema once in a while. Lord it's unpleasant -- the things we do for our health right! Lifespace has been a great Aussie brand I've found, but I haven't taken them for a while and will grab another bottle. I love digestive enzymes! What brand do you recommend? Psyllium and I are NOT FRIENDS though. And there was a pic of the peptides on the last update :-)

sister in America everyone fat. I'm in south cali and we most fit people here. but back home in Bama when i say everyone fat i mean like atleast 25% body fat considered lean
Yes it is most certainly a disturbing trend. Unhealthy and overweight has become so common that it's not considered normal and standard and acceptable. Just because it's normal and common does not make it something we should accept! Last time I was in the United States I flew into Austin, Texas and holy hairdo Batman, wasn't that a shock to the system. I live at the Gold Coast Australia and it's a bit like Cali -- we're outdoors people and being healthy is a way of life!

@Fitasfuckisthegoal not arse sister :D but normal front mirror photo, like you see in other logs. You can be in gym clothing, we are more trying to understand your base.

High protein is good if you can properly digest it. Get more digestive enzymes in there. I'm not from Australia so no brand picks sorry sister. :D
On the psyllium, what is the issue?
Usually if issues you are not drinking enough water, you need a gallon per day.

@Fitasfuckisthegoal that’s awesome to hear you’re no longer in pain. Hopefully this cycle goes just as well.

Ok so technically no longer in PAIN as such, but HOLY HAIRDO BATMAN THE SORENESS. I stood at the bottom of my stairs tonight and looked up and truly, I just thought, maybe I'll just sleep on the couch downstairs instead of having to walk up there after YET ANOTHER horrifying leg workout?! :ROFLMAO:

That means you beast mode on the legs sister :D thats how champions are born @Fitasfuckisthegoal still waiting on that pic, coming?

sister good to see you feel better. you also need to make sure you load up on red meats. that will heal you too @Fitasfuckisthegoal
The beauty of living in Australia is that we have access to a smorgasbord of organic, grass-fed red meat, organic, grass-fed dairy and lots of organic fresh food! Steak steak and steak and then when you think you've had enough steak? MORE STEAK.

Oh I've had all manner of gut issues since I was a kid -- 30 years spending endless dollars on endless doctors and practitioners, but honestly the best thing for me is a high protein, high fat diet. Fibre is problematic -- some are great, others are NOT. I use Masszymes from Bioptimizers if you know it? It's a US company so it costs a bomb to get here in Australia, but brilliant product. As is their Magnesium (2x per day).

And psyllium just sends my gut into meltdown. It's horrifyingly unfun for me, and anyone within around 200 metres of me as well. Good times... I drink about 2.5 to 3 litres of water a day depending on the activity level (more if doing Bikram yoga) but I just have a horridly dry digestive system. Every morning I smash down a big glass of water with creatine, Ancient Lakes electrolytes and a dash of apple cider vinegar which helps a lot. Ah creatine -- all those years thinking it was for body builders -- who knew how freakin' awesome it would be?

@Fitasfuckisthegoal I dont know Masszymes from Bioptimizers but I just search the ingredients are good, but you should get extra AM probiotics.

UPDATED PICS. Why? WHY? Why is it that the only fat I seem to retain likes to hang out on my back, rear delt area and backs of my arms, and not really anywhere else?! Like why can't that fat just migrate to my chest instead, where it would be most welcome indeed, WILDY CELEBRATED in fact? URGHHHHHH. Meantime, two and a bit weeks in and I'm definitely getting stronger (yay). However, is it normal to be this darn sore? Please for the love of God tell me this never-ending aching is going to be worth it?! @Sassy's Pharmaceuticals I cannot imagine this W/O my little stash of BCP and TB500
:)

sister but texas beef best in the world. come to ranch and i will let you ride the bulls and eat steak
I actually went to Texas last May and it was such a wild place but alas, I did not come across anyone who a) had bulls and b) would have let my uncoordinated ass on one! I made a wee stop there to catch up with some friends from my hometown who live there. I'm now incredibly disappointed neither of them had made friends with any Texas cowboys to introduce me too pfffft. LOST OPPORTUNITY.

@Fitasfuckisthegoal I dont know Masszymes from Bioptimizers but I just search the ingredients are good, but you should get extra AM probiotics.

You try apple pectin fiber as a alternative?
No actually, never heard of it (opening a new tab and googling as we speak)?

It was Austin! Not sure I'll be back any time soon though... it's getting harder and harder even for Australians to come and go the way we used to into the US, but also, BROKE AF. The travel times are over for a while... Come to Australia. We can get you riding a surfboard down at my local beach at the Gold Coast instead. It's gotta be easier than staying on a bull, surely?

You've come to the right place for being overly self critical lol. We all do it. None of can really see what others see. It's good tho cuz it keeps us pushing.

You're doing amazing. Already a big transformation in such a short time, and you started from a pretty good place already. Keep up the great work and progression!

Nice update, you are looking well. I was glad to read about you walking up the stairs and having second guess your self, that means you are pushing your self hard in the gym when stairs scare you🔥🔥🔥

Sorry, it’s automatic. I say, "Great. I am very glad that there are also people here who have a problem similar to mine (autoimmune disease). I’ll watch, it’s very interesting. (u)😊"
I hope we can talk about you fasting more :D

I called it FITH syndrome. Fucked In The Head. We're all batshit crazy with our self critique, but hey, it keeps us motivated right! And thanks bud -- it's been such a joy discovering how bloody nice everyone in the gym is. All that intimidation when you walk in, and everyone's like, it's cool! We gotcha girl! Love it
:)

Incidentally, that's how I crawled out of the autoimmune / chronic fatigue when it was at its worst. I fasted intensely and consistently for a year to get to the point where I could digest basic meals without curling up into a ball in pain. I pretty much stopped going out altogether for a while there. Fasting gave my entire digestive system the chance to have a break and start to rebuild itself. Life changing. I don't do it now -- I just can't eat the calories for building in the short eating windows, but I'll go back to it again. What kind of fasting do you do?

I don't think you are out of condition much at all - won't be long before all the young girls in the gym are checking you out wanting to be as fit as you!
I'll start building me a posse! Thank you, that's really kind of you to say. Meantime, I swear to God my arse is already bigger and that is SUPER EXCITING. And, every time I manage to increase my weights there's a strong urge to grab some random person walking past to be like, "do you know how fucking exciting this is? Like LOOK AT THE SPREADSHEET!". I mean, I don't, of course. Ok, well, maybe I did once, you know, but like, it was just that one time. Maybe.

And I can’t decide on this step - fasting. So it’s hard:cry:

It's not exactly fun! Maybe try doing short ones, like 14 - 16 hours? We do have to fast differently to men as it puts such a stress on the female body, but shorter ones really helped me when my stomach was really bad. I tried a few three-day fasts, but they always affected my nervous system too much. I could not function by the 24 hour mark every time. Truly horrible!

thank you for your empathy and support
my ex wife took my daughter twice from me. the first time when she left me, the 2nd time when she killed herself
@Ulter
This was very hard to read. That’s a lot of weight to carry. I hope you’re healing. Love being sent your way man!!

I hope you and your daughter can figure it out. I don’t talk to my son much because of his mother and her fucked up family. Trying to change that but it’s been an uphill battle. He’s 27 now and we are starting to have a better relationship but he just moved four hours away with his GF so that will be another hurdle.

Glad your training is going well🔥. What do your workouts looking like? Please post up what you do on what day.

I also thought about the load on the CNS... That’s why I’m afraid. But short fasting is very good advice, thank you so much. Tomorrow I will try, starting with 10 o'clock fasting. Thank you, your experience and advice precious

Hahaha surfing is pretty hard! I waterski, wakeboard, or barefoot almost every day and surfing was a challenge for me. I hit the bottom hard. If there was a rock or something I would’ve died😂

Hold up what is Var?
Anabolic steroid popular with women. Would give you amazing results, but it’s a bit of a devils deal. A little too much is way too much and there’s no going back. There’s a Persian fitness influencer, I forget her name. Holy smooookes is she hot, but she talks like a dude now. And that’s probably not all. I can’t say it without be a deal breaker for me 😂🙈, but I’m not sure where the limit is. If she smells like a dude there’s no way😬

OK so! thank you for the welcome.

Love this!
What is your thinking with the hcg? Will this not cause you to ovulate repeatedly? Is the goal just to keep your sex hormones boosted for gains? What have you heard? I remember seeing a while bunch of “HCG. Diet” business. Seemed like pretty scammy to me, although people had results, but you don’t need to lose weight at all.

Mainly IF and water fasting with light dry fasting depends on the situation. Fasting is going to change your life and you're the best example of it. @Fitasfuckisthegoal
