First cycle questions

Hey everyone,

I'm 29 years old, sitting around 160–165 lbs., and I’m looking for some honest guidance as I step back into the fitness world ideally for good this time.

A bit about me: I’m a former service member, and like many vets here can probably relate to, transitioning from a military environment to civilian life really took a toll mentally. I've struggled with PTSD, low energy, and loss of purpose over the last couple years. The structure and intensity of military life gave me a mental clarity I’ve had a hard time finding since.

Back in 2022, I tried to make a serious return to the gym again because I needed a change after a few years being away. I was pushing myself hard too hard, in hindsight training 6 months straight without rest days (2hr a day). The results were incredible, and mentally I felt better than I had in a long time, however I was smoking a shit load of weed and was told I looked great by my roommates wife nonstop so I think a lot of it was just "placebo" however I do know I gained a decent amount of muscle but just was never satisfied with how big I looked like I wanted more. Unfortunately, I nearly tore my MCL during that push and had to stop. Since then, I’ve been stuck in a rut and haven't been back to the gym at all but depression kicked in then life and all got in the way, so it stopped me all together.

Now, I’m ready to start again but I want to do it right this time. I’ve been considering TRT through TRT Nation (something like 200mg test weekly) and incorporating HCG to preserve fertility and avoid testicular atrophy. I'm not trying to go full blast-and-cruise right away. My main goal is to restore my old form and build on it intelligently high energy, improved mood, muscle recovery, and looking/feeling sharp again. I mean I'd love to look maybe 3-4 times bigger than what I was.

However, I’ve seen people stack things like:
  • Test E/C @ 200–250mg
  • Primobolan E @ 100mg
  • Mast Prop @ 100mg
  • NPP @ 150mg
But I don’t want to go off the rails or jump into a complicated stack too fast. I’m more interested in a long-term, sustainable foundation and something that won’t wreck me mentally or physically (I do understand that injecting yourself with shit period will ruin your body over the years). Given my past mental health challenges and how important stability is for me, I’m looking to avoid anything that might trigger aggression, mood swings, or major crashes.

My overall goals are rebuilding muscle mass and strength from past gym years, enhance mood and mental clarity, improve energy and sleep, maintain healthy libido and testicular function (hence considering HCG), minimize risk of joint issues (MCL) and chronic inflammation, be able to lift 2x what I was and look 3/4 times bigger than what I was.

Questions I’d appreciate help with:
  1. Would a simple 200mg Test + HCG cycle be a solid start?
  2. Is there any value in adding something mild like Primo early on, or should I stick to Test only for my first run?
  3. Any vet-specific feedback from those who’ve used gear for both physical and mental recovery?
  4. What’s the best long-term path if I’m open to cruising with occasional mild blasts down the road?
Appreciate any feedback or wisdom you guys can pass along. I’ve done my research but there’s no substitute for lived experience.

Edit: For meal plans and all I was going to do 3100 calories, 85-90g fat, 350-355g carbs, 220-225g protein. which is what I was eating back when I was stationed in South Korea and know I can put some weight on quick if I eat it correctly and work out.

The honest answer is we don't know! before I give any answers I should say that. think about it like this, I can tell you, go use test and hgh (for sure NOT hcg) and eq, or primo, I would just be guessing if you really need to go that route, why? well we know nothing about you really. we have some of your background but that's about it, we know nothing about what you're doing now. And really food training supplements sleep and overall mental health are big parts of any cycle and gains.

I suggest we do this. Before you get on a cycle, lets start by having you set up a pre-cycle LOG in a new thread. In that log you can share your current diet training cardio sleep supp use and more and we can guide you from that log into a full cycle LOG, will take you around 15min to post and 5min to follow up weekly, should be easy.

HOW-TO LOG?
  • To really guide you we need more info from you.
  • Please share your diet, training, cardio, sleep, supplements etc log with us in a NEW thread, full log journal so our guidance is based on facts you provide.
  • It will take 15-20 minutes max.
  • We have 100s of years of experience between us, so you need to post a LOG Journal with your stats (weight,height,age, years training, cycle history) diet, training, cardio, supplement, sleep details. If you don't log what you eat or train now, open NOTES on phone and start recording it there and paste here. Very easy.

So, from my point of view, both B&C (later on) or TRT is NOT gonna help with fertility. Plus you're just 29.

I'd also have you avoid training 2hrs a day EVERY day
 
Get a good training split - about 1 hour in the gym should do on training days.
As for cycle - 200mg is almost just above normal TRT and below Sports TRT
A mild first cycle would be perhaps 300-350mg a week of 'sports TRT' for 12 weeks - with or withough HCG - can always PCT - you will probably respond well to Sports+ TRT as you are pretty lean (are you still?)
Save another compound until your next cycle - and then maybe something like Anavar or TBol oral.
I am not a vet but Nandrolones can mess with some people mentally
If you want to blast and cruise it is not conducive to fertility.

first off i am proud of you for being open about your struggles. you not only did other people a great service by doing that but you ALSO did yourself a great service. this will allow the healing process to begin. its about achieving balance. @DylanW23
 
@DylanW23 yeah don't run a complicated stack. keep things SIMPLE. do like 2 steroids. even 1 injectable and 1 oral you can control is good

bro i serve too. but no PTSD for me. watched a friend get his brain blown up in basic training. someone accidently let a grenade fall to ground and the dude picked it up and boom. lol. crazy shit tell us some stories @DylanW23

bros you got a good look. very lean naturally. you should set goals to gain muscle and lose fat @DylanW23

im the same weight wise, but i been building a beer stomach as i drink every weekend since 2023 lol. Besides that i have been eating pretty shitty due to depression and lost my job in 2024, I just got a job 2 months ago and i really want to get back into shape like i was and better. Im honestly just wanting to mainly build muscle without risking my balls to shrink up due to not being used, its really my only major worry lol. I also want to do something that if i want to lean off in the future i can without risking much muscle loss or badly negative effects of such. Thats why i was thinking of doing trt/hcg to minimize it all, you know?
 
Keep the cycle simple and no reason to stack multiple types of gear. Primobolan, masteron propionate, and npp are short acting esters. They require frequent injections. Primobolan is expensive.

Do some research on Testosterone enanthate and hgh cycle.

Testosterone enanthate 300mg a wk Split dose
Hgh 1iu am fasted and 1iu pm before bed

yeah, i didnt want it to be overly complicated. i dude some research on this all back in 2022 when i wanted to get into gear but i dont remember much of it anymore sadly as i haven't payed attention to it all. Id assume what trt clinics would give you test e or just base test? i wanted to use a clinic to cover up what im doing as if i get drug/medically tested in my line of work with a T/E test it will show up that im using test and thus i can get away with it lol. Im honestly just wanting to mainly build muscle without risking my balls to shrink up due to not being used, its really my only major worry lol. I also want to do something that if i want to lean off in the future i can without risking much muscle loss or badly negative effects of such.

Thanks, its not easy at all. i been to myself and "hiding" inside because the transition and lifestyle that they prep you for isnt what the civilian life is and its a struggle to transition and sometimes you cant. i keep striving for that "military atmosphere" and i just cant sadly.

what would you recommend? as Im honestly just wanting to mainly build muscle without risking my balls to shrink up due to not being used, its really my only major worry lol. I also want to do something that if i want to lean off in the future i can without risking much muscle loss or badly negative effects of such. i know that im rather lean as it is so i dont need to lose "much fat" rather just build weight without taking major heal issues over time. i want to minimum do it all for 6 months then depending how i look do another 6 months but i dont tend to be doing this all for over 2 years.

Dude thats fucken crazy. when i was in basic during grenade training the DS used to slam two live grenades into your chest hard. i seen so many people drop them fuckers and im so happy that the pins were in or it was not going to be fun lol. we had two people that where shitzo and wanted to shoot everyone up but asked "normal" around the DS's, until it was range day and the one swung and got absolutely donkey kicked in the back of the head. Besides that in basic we had one dude almost shoot me when doing the live buddy exercise from a "finger slip" when crawling and some bullshit when doing the forge ruck march. When i was in korea it was people killing themselves, like a women jumped out her bedroom window "8 stories up" because her boyfriend said she should and convinced her too even know she was 2 months out from leaving. Seen people slit their wrists from being trashed, people getting shot in training from being stupid, dude falling asleep and hitting a group of soldiers. At fort drum it was well drum the #1 place for the most depressed army soldiers and #1 place for the most s3xual assault for women. That shit when i was in was a complete waste of time and wish i never went tbh.

Now honestly im the same weight wise maybe at most i lost 15 pounds, but i been building a beer stomach as i drink every weekend since 2023 lol. Besides that i have been eating pretty shitty due to depression. i'll see if i can get a pic tomorrow, as i just got home from work.

thanks, yeah i been able to always have a "slim" stomach almost my whole life besides now with a beer gut lol. id love to gain muscle back again but just want something to help a bit like i want to minimum do it all for 6 months then depending how i look do another 6 months but i dont tend to be doing this all for over 2 years.

if you need TRT then get TRT> but don't think that using hcg with it preserves fertility cause that is a myth. just a way for anti aging clinics to charge you more

i dont think i "need" it but by using a clinic i cover my ass from the place of work i have that do all sorts of blood work tests for abuse of drugs randomly, with the clinic i can get a DR note that states im on "test" so i can use more then normally prescribed and try to get bigger with it without having to go all out with AAS. Yeah on hcg? i read alot that talked about using it with test/trt to keep the balls full and it mimics LH (luteinizing hormone) and keeps your testicles working while you’re on cycle, then i seen about doing 250 IU 2x/week on cycle.
 
Extra bit of information for you all.

looking back at my old recording of lifting in 2022 (the last photos that i posted) i was about 180-185lbs / 6'2" and i was benching 240lbs, deadlifting 310lbs, squatting 300lbs "i never focused on it" i only cared about deadlifting, benching and calisthenics lol. However, on a leg press machine i was at like 650lbs. I was doing a very unhealthy style of lifting where the next time i did the "x" exercise i had to do the same lbs as last time or push myself to lift 5 or 10lbs more.
 
Keep the cycle simple and no reason to stack multiple types of gear. Primobolan, masteron propionate, and npp are short acting esters. They require frequent injections. Primobolan is expensive.

Do some research on Testosterone enanthate and hgh cycle.

Testosterone enanthate 300mg a wk Split dose
Hgh 1iu am fasted and 1iu pm before bed

in regard to hgh, that was something i was looking into besides hcg. As hgh does help with muscle gain due to it being a growth hormone being used for lean mass, fat loss and recovery of your muscles from lifting. i do know however that there is a high risk with hgh because alot of fake stuff is sold or its "underdosed". i also know that its slow to show physique changes and can have effect to your testicle size and penile length where some studies said its 50/50 on if your penile grows or you have testicle shrinkage, with a chance of acromegaly in men.
 
I then seen some people getting insulin resistance + jaw pains/issues from taking hgh. it appears that they were taking 5-10iu a day, i also read a form somewhere a dude was taking 200 mg test e with 3iu somatropin 4x weekly and felt great by stating that he "gained 2 years of muscles in 6 weeks" which seems beyond too good to be true lol.

The honest answer is we don't know! before I give any answers I should say that. think about it like this, I can tell you, go use test and hgh (for sure NOT hcg) and eq, or primo, I would just be guessing if you really need to go that route, why? well we know nothing about you really. we have some of your background but that's about it, we know nothing about what you're doing now. And really food training supplements sleep and overall mental health are big parts of any cycle and gains.

I suggest we do this. Before you get on a cycle, lets start by having you set up a pre-cycle LOG in a new thread. In that log you can share your current diet training cardio sleep supp use and more and we can guide you from that log into a full cycle LOG, will take you around 15min to post and 5min to follow up weekly, should be easy.

HOW-TO LOG?
  • To really guide you we need more info from you.
  • Please share your diet, training, cardio, sleep, supplements etc log with us in a NEW thread, full log journal so our guidance is based on facts you provide.
  • It will take 15-20 minutes max.
  • We have 100s of years of experience between us, so you need to post a LOG Journal with your stats (weight,height,age, years training, cycle history) diet, training, cardio, supplement, sleep details. If you don't log what you eat or train now, open NOTES on phone and start recording it there and paste here. Very easy.

I have been personally thinking of starting a cycle with this

Week 1-3
Test E 250mg weekly
Hcg 250iu 2x weekly

Week 4-8
Test E 250mg weekly
Turinabol 25mg daily
Hcg 250iu 2x weekly

Week 9-12
Test E 250mg weekly
Hcg 250iu 2x weekly

Then for PCT "3 weeks after last injection"

i was told to do Clomid: 50mg/day for 4 weeks or Nolvadex: 20mg/day for 4 weeks

however, i never looked into that at all to see what they would benefit/hurt. Then told if i notice puffy nipples, bloating, mood swings during cycle then use Arimidex "0.25mg every 3 days"

Can anyone verify if this would be a great beginner cycle for someone thats lean just trying to be in the right mental state during lifting, gain a bunch of weight/lean muscle "im 6'3" @ 165lbs now and about 10% or less bodyfat" and just be shredded lol

it keeps your testicles stimulated. but it does nothing for pituitary glands. hcg was never approved for use in men for fertility

bro I also served in clink too after military. seen lots of dudes assaulted in showers. I was part of the gang responsible too in most cases lol.
 
Thanks, its not easy at all. i been to myself and "hiding" inside because the transition and lifestyle that they prep you for isnt what the civilian life is and its a struggle to transition and sometimes you cant. i keep striving for that "military atmosphere" and i just cant sadly.

bros you might want to look into the GLP'1's. you a bit young but those will help

zero reason for ANYONE to use more then 2 or 3iu's of hgh per day UNLESS you are competing at a higher level.
 
like what the one dude above said? take "Turinabol 25mg daily" for 4 weeks of the 12 then take test e from week 1-12?
